Violet H. Garreau

Cadyville — Mrs. Violet H. Garreau, 101, of the Reservoir Road, Cadyville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.

She was born in Cadyville, N.Y., on June 14, 1902, the daughter of Alfred and Melinda (St. Germaine) Brooks. She had made her home in Ogdensburg, Chazy Lake, St. Petersburg, Fla., and has made her home in this area for the past 30 years.

Violet enjoyed snowmobile riding, crocheting, hunting and most of all fishing.

She was the youngest and last survivor of 13 children. Violet was also predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Henry Stewart; a son, Robert Stewart; and her second husband, Francis Garreau.

She is survived by a daughter, Freida LaMar and her husband Leander of Cadyville; Freida and Leander's children and their spouses, Ella and Dr. George Boolukos of Plattsburgh and Phyllis and Allen Helson of Waterford, N.Y., Sandy O'Neill and Bob LaWare of Cadyville, Mary Delisle of Ravena, N.Y., Sue and David Baker of Plattsburgh and Paul and Mary LaMar of Plattsburgh; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Ashline Stewart of Largo, Fla.; and her late husband Robert's children, Robert and Bonnie Stewart of Ogdensburg, Carol and Billy Carron of St. Petersburg, Fla., Joe and Diane Stewart of Farmington, N.H., Linda and Paul Rummell of St. Petersburg, Fla., Catherine Wolfhanger of Florida, Sally Hughes of St. Petersburg, Fla., Judy Wolfhanger of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Robin and Lewis Desrosiers of Florida; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Park Row, Cadyville.

Agnes Behan Pagers

Troy, N.Y. — Agnes E. Behan Pagers, 84, died Jan. 18, 2004, at the Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Francis L. Behan and Harry J. Pagers; mother of Carolyn Butler (Richard), Michael Behan (Betty), Shirley DiScanio (Rocco), Mary Cyr (John), Noreen Carman (Bruce), Pauline Behan-Roullier (Kevin), John Behan (late Sherri) and Robert Behan (Joann); sister of Dora Terry and Adlor Pellerin and the late Albina Bailey, Cora Bell, Rose Maggy, Margaret Fournia, Alfred, James and Lawrence Pellerin; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.

Contributions to Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Annette Dufrane

Ticonderoga — Annette Dufrane, 85, of 10 Water St., Ticonderoga, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She is survived by her son, David C. Dufrane and wife Teresa of Port Henry; her daughter, Bonnie Brod of Ticonderoga; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Dufrane.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y.

Funeral services will be conducted in the spring at the Union Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y.

Robert E. Ryan

Saranac Lake — Robert E. Ryan, 87, of 175 Lake St., Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

He was born in Franklin Falls, N.Y., on May 4, 1916, the son of William and Mary (Keese) Ryan.

Mr. Ryan married Catherine 0’Leary on Jan. 16, 1951, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She predeceased him in 1959.

Mr. Ryan is a life long resident of Saranac Lake and was employed as the Lower Saranac Lake Lock Tender for NYSDEC for many years. Prior to that, he had worked on the family farm, Cloverdale, in Franklin Falls, N.Y., and the Ryan Fruit Co. in Saranac Lake, N.Y. He later worked at the Saranac Lake Vets Club for many years as the steward.

Mr. Ryan is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 447, American Legion and past member of the Saranac Lake Elks Club. He was an avid hunter and was happiest when he was savoring a summer day on Lower Saranac Lake with his many friends.

He is survived by two sons, David and Danny Ryan, both of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; two daughters, Theresa Rottner of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Mary Ann Stevens of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Ray Ryan of Hollywood, Fla., and Francis Ryan of Storrs, Conn.; one sister, Theresa Murray of Rochester, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Andrea Ryan of Saranac Lake, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bernard, Paul, John and Joseph Ryan.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune - Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. A Bible vigil service will take place on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:15 a.m. on Monday at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Dan Callahan officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale in May.

Friends wishing to remember Robert E. Ryan may make memorial contributions to V.F.W. Post 447 in care of the funeral home.

Ralph O. San Souci

Mooers Forks — Ralph O. San Souci, 65, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Ticonderoga on Jan. 19, 1939, the son of Joseph Aram Arthur and Laura Loretta (Shelters) San Souci.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 -1959. He was a chef for many years at the Anchorage and Zachary's in Rouses Point, O’Toole’s and American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh, from where he retired. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks and completed his studies for the Eucharistic Ministry. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer and was active in St. Mary's Mission Center in Champlain.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Boulanger) San Souci; a son, Allan San Souci of Coventry, R.I.; five daughters, Natalie Slaughter of St. Regis, Mont., Laura Mills of Woodbridge, Va., Summer Pearson, Willow Smith and Autumn San Souci, all of Kennewick, Wash.; three stepchildren, John Stanzione of Warwick, R.I., Bernice Stanzione of Mooers Forks, Christie Wallace and son-in-law Chad Wallace of Mooers Forks; four sisters, Janet Mimms of Mabelville, Ark., Susan Sardiello of Spring Hill, Fla., Marie Ellis and Shirley Meg San Souci, both of East Greenwich, R.I.; seven grandchildren; and several sons-in-law; a daughter in-law; brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents; and a brother, Robert Paul San Souci, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Russell M. Wood

Ticonderoga — Russell M. Wood, 75, of Wicker Street, Ticonderoga passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his residence.

He was born in Ticonderoga, Aug. 2, 1928, the son of the late William M. and Ethel (Thomas) Wood.

Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

He has been a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga. He was a self-employed auto and truck mechanic in Ticonderoga for many years.

He was predeceased by one brother, Sheldon Wood; and by one sister, Prudence Wood Lamb.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mildred R. (Boyce) Wood; three daughters, Carol L. Ramundo and her husband Richard of Rotterdam, Mary Rose Swanson and her husband Louis of Alpharetta, Ga., and Kim M. McHugh and her husband Bernard of Glenmont; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Ann Lamb, Mary Beth Karkoski and Cynda Lamb.

Relatives and friends may call Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. The Reverend Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

Francis J. Brooks, 85, of 186 County Rte 24, Malone, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the Alice Hyde Hospital where he has been a patient since Jan. 11, 2004.

He was born March 18, 1918, in Malone, the son of Joseph A. and Adeline (Spinner) Brooks.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Bosco Church. Spring burial will take place in St. John Bosco Cemetery.

Clara M. Edwards, 88, of Lantana Drive, Debary, Fla., and formerly of Cumberland Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at her home.

She was born in Standish on April 27, 1915, the daughter of George and Jessie (Caswell) Comstock.

Arrangements are incomplete with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
