Published: 1/22/04Russell M. WoodTiconderoga — Russell M. Wood, 75, of Wicker Street, Ticonderoga passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Ticonderoga, Aug. 2, 1928, the son of the late William M. and Ethel (Thomas) Wood. Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He has been a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga. He was a self-employed auto and truck mechanic in Ticonderoga for many years. He was predeceased by one brother, Sheldon Wood; and by one sister, Prudence Wood Lamb. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred R. (Boyce) Wood; three daughters, Carol L. Ramundo and her husband Richard of Rotterdam, Mary Rose Swanson and her husband Louis of Alpharetta, Ga., and Kim M. McHugh and her husband Bernard of Glenmont; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Ann Lamb, Mary Beth Karkoski and Cynda Lamb. Relatives and friends may call Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. The Reverend Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga will officiate. Evylena G. FournierSchertz, Texas — Evylena G. Fournier, age 80, of Schertz, Texas, formerly of Morrisonville, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Morrisonville, N.Y., on Oct. 19, 1923, daughter of Fred and Rose (Sidney) Macey. Evylena was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Treadwell Mills. She had been employed by Diamond National Corporation for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the American Legion Post 1619 Auxiliary in West Plattsburgh, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose Club 2390, both of Plattsburgh, Keeseville Ladies of the Elks, a life member of the Peru Rod and Gun Club and an avid bowler. On Oct. 29, 1941, Evylena married Bernard E. Fournier at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville in a double wedding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; and son, Lee. Evylena is survived by four daughters, Janice Grabowski and husband Larry of Reno, Nev., Bernice Nemec and husband Kenneth of Maybee, Mich., Betteann Urban of Orlando, Fla., and Geralyn Kraft and husband, Donald of Schertz, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; two great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on both Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, and Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at St. Joseph's Church in Treadwell Mills. Burial will be held in the spring in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. George H. SanbornEssex, N.Y. — George H. Sanborn, 80, formerly of Essex, N.Y., died at CVPH Jan. 15, 2004. Mr. Sanborn had made his home at Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh for the past 7 years. He was born in Essex, N.Y., March 29, 1923, the son of Roy and Isabelle (Kelly) Sanborn. He was a produce manager for the A&P Co. in Newport, N.H., for 28 years. When he retired he moved back to his home town of Essex. He belonged to the Federated Church in Essex, the VFW Post 2437, The Disabled American Veterans, The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge 2, Claremont, N.H., Order of the Moose Lodge 1236, Newport, N.H. and the American Legion Brewster and Gould Lee, Newport, N.H. He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Shaw of Silver Spring, Md., and Imogene O’Reilly of Plattsburgh; as well as a niece, Zelda McDonald of Brookeville, Md. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Irwin and Donald. There are no services scheduled at this time. Huestis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Gordon A. McDonaldCHAZY — Mr. Gordon A. McDonald, 59, of Route 9, Chazy, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004. He was born in Mineville, N.Y., on April 13, 1944, the son of Lawrence and Florence (Therrian) McDonald. Gordon was an avid runner and had participated in several marathons. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and he took great pride in construction and doing for others. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren whom he loved so dearly. He attended Altona High School and at the time of his death he was employed by Wyeth in Chazy, N.Y. Gordon was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Harold. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (VanArman) McDonald of Chazy whom he married Oct. 31, 1964; two daughters, Kelly McCauley her husband Steven and their children Hannah and Joshua of Chazy; Stephanie Girard her husband Gabe and their daughter Aubrie of Plattsburgh; his brothers Lawrence McDonald Jr. and his wife Colleen of Mooers Forks, Loyal McDonald and his wife Shirley of Mooers Forks, Clarence McDonald and his wife Linda of West Chazy and Gaylord McDonald and his wife Elaine of West Chazy; his sisters, Pat Dupee of Mooers Forks, Rita LaFave of Fort Myers, Fla., and Linda Nichols and her husband Dale of Champlain; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church with the Reverend Christopher Looby, Parochial Vicar as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot. Friends wishing may make donations to the Gordon McDonald Athletic Scholarship to be established in his memory at Chazy Central Rural School. They may be sent to Kelly McCauley, 87 Washington Avenue, Chazy, N.Y., or donations may be made to the American Red Cross. Hill, 76, of Essex died at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004. She was born in Essex, April 15, 1927, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Larmay) LaBarge. Pat was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Essex, a graduate of the Plattsburgh Business Institute, and the secretary/treasurer of the Lakeview Cemetery Association. She is survived by her husband, Wallace W. Hill (Wally); her daughter-in-law, Judy Hill of Mechanicsville, Va.; her granddaughter and husband Kirsten and Michael Schrag of Ruther Glen, Va.; and a niece, Judy Vanderhoff of KeyLargo, Fla. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Jeffrey and Wally J. Hill; and a sister, Betty Tatro; and a brother, John LaBarge. Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Essex on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Delbel officiating. Huttlinger died Jan. 19, 2004, at her Lake Placid residence. Her family was with her at the time of her death which resulted from advanced Parkinson’s disease and complications from a recent stroke. She was born in Waterbury, Vt., the daughter of Agnes McGrath Lewis and Henry Lewis. Calling hours will be held at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday by St. Agnes Church pastor Reverend J. Michael Gaffney and concelebrated by Reverend Philip T. Allen of Holy Name Church in AuSable Forks. Sister Helen Rice, R.S.M., of Margaret’s Convent. Lake Placid, N.Y., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at the Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid. She was born in Long Lake, N.Y., April 13, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Clement) Rice. Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Convent at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at noon at the Reiss Memorial Chapel at Uihlein Mercy Center. Reverend Patrick O’Reilly will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at the Long Lake Cemetery, Saturday at 2 p.m. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements. Violet H. Garreau, 101, of the Resevoir Road, Cadyville, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the Clinton County Nursing Home. She was born in Morrisonville, N.Y., on June 14, 1902, the daughter of Alfred and Melinda (St. Germaine) Brooks. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church. Interment will be at a later date in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain. Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Park Row, Cadyville. A full obituary will be in Friday's Press-Republican. Ralph O. Sansouci, 65, of Mooers Forks died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are incomplete and are with the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Garland H. Braisted, 85, of Emery Street, Morrisonville, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Whallonsburg, N.Y., on May 1, 1918, the son of Harry and Rena (Winlows) Braisted. Arrangements are incomplete at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
