Charles L. Cross Jr.

Willsboro, N.Y. — Charles L. Cross Jr., 79, of the Lake Shore Road, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 15, 2004, surrounded by his wife and four children.

He was born in Willsboro on Sept. 2, 1924, the son of Charles and Clara (Mitchell) Cross.

Charles was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He grew up in Willsboro and entered the U.S. Army in 1943, where he was stationed in Iceland as a medic. He received an Honorable Discharge with several decorations and citations.

He was a well-known carpenter for over 30 years. In 1983, he retired from NYCO. In his later years, he enjoyed the company of all of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Marie (Jenney) Cross; his children and their spouses, Lonnie and Laura Cross of Peru, Ricky and Gayle Cross of Willsboro, Gail and Fred MacDougal of Willsboro and Terry and Michelle Cross of Willsboro; his grandchildren, Dana and Whitney MacDougal of Willsboro, Clayton and Lucas Cross of Willsboro and Trevor Cross of Peru; his sister, Helene Wrisley of Dannemora; and his brother, William Murphy of Willsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond Cross, Donald Cross and Henry Cross; three sisters, Hilda Konavage, Bessie Gesseck and Alice Anderson; one son, Scott Cross; and one granddaughter, Ashley MacDougal.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at the Willsboro Congregational Church on Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name be made to either the Willsboro Rescue Squad or the High Peaks Hospice, PO Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956.

Marilyn M. "Merly" Hendrie

Altona — Marilyn M. "Merly" Hendrie, 62, of the Devils Den Road, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 26, 1941, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Blake) Hendrie.

Marilyn enjoyed playing bingo.

She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Carlton and Leon Hendrie.

Marilyn is survived by four daughters, Karen Fletcher and her companion Ronald Boyd of Sciota, Anna Spooner and her husband Mark of Plattsburgh, Geleta "Gigi" Clark and her husband Andrew of Peru and Michelle Fletcher of Sanford, Fla.; a special friend and caregiver, Howard Peryea of Altona; three sisters, Edna LeClaire and her husband James of Peru, Arlene Bouvia and her husband Arthur of Plattsburgh and Phyllis Roark of Peru; seven grandchildren, Ronald Boyd Jr., Mark, Candice and Joanie Spooner, Carrie and Edward Clark and Woody Burdo; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Makenzie, Jeramiah and Landen; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Kitty Ann (Soder) Goodman

Bealeton, Va. — Kitty Ann (Soder) Goodman, 36, of Bealeton, Va., died on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Steven A. Goodman; devoted mother of twins, Spencer and Elaina Goodman; daughter of Harry and Ramona Soder; and sister of David Soder and Yvonne Banker.

Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, Va.

Donations can be made to the Cancer Center in her name.

Robert Joseph Collins Vincent, 72, of Mooers, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church in Mooers.
