Robert Lee Lumpkin, age 58, formally of Plattsburgh, N.Y., was born on March 16, 1945, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Pensacola, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Malee Lumpkin; three children, Robert Lumpkin Jr. of Japan, Ida Lumpkin of Laurel, Md., Valerie Lumpkin of Pensacola, Fla.; and sister, Ida Campbell of Pensacola, Fla. He was a selfless man who served the nation for 25 years. He was a most beloved husband, father, and brother. He left this world, but he also left his love and memories to live on in our strong, little family. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Barrancas National Cemetery. Trahan Mortuary Services, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, Fla., is in charge of arrangements. Anne C. ShovanELIZABETHTOWN, NY — Anne C. Shovan, 80, of Cobble Hill Road, Elizabethtown, died Dec. 27, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital with her family by her side following a hard fought battle with cancer. Anne was born in Troy, N.Y., Nov. 15, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Cox) Coffey. Anne graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1941 and attended Mildred Elley Secretarial School in Albany, N.Y. She worked as a customer service representative at New York Telephone Company in Troy, where she met her husband, Noel, whom she married May 1, 1940, at St. Joseph’s Church in Troy. She also worked as a receptionist for the Essex County Historical Society and Museum. Anne was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society of St. Elizabeth’s church and the Elizabethtown/Westport Garden Club. Anne was a creative spirit and an inspiration to all of us and persevered with great strength, battling her cancer for so many years while at the same time caring for her husband, Noel, during his struggle with Alzheimer’s. She showed us all what it means to have dedication to family and the love of life. Anne is predeceased by her husband, Noel; her twin brother, Thomas Coffey; her sister, Mary Alice Kennedy; and her parents. Survivors include seven children; 15 grandchildren; sisters; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Their seven children, Sea Chauvin and her two children, Christien and Jennika of Belfast, Maine, Peter Shovan and one child, Thomas of Saranac Lake, Cecilia Chauvin and four children, Dylan, Andrew, Ansel and Graham of Erie, Pa., Joseph and Lisa Shovan and two children, Audrey and Tanner of Lewis, Noel and Pam Shovan and three children, Brent, Emily and Kyle of Glens Falls, N.Y., Claire and Paul Ilahn of Granby, Conn., Lisa and Scott Decker and three children, Noel, Catie and Jamie of Elizabethtown, N.Y.; sisters, Theresa Normile and Margaret Pagano of Troy, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Veronica Caffey. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2003, of Marvins’ Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Elizabethtown. Donations can be made in Anne’s memory to High Peaks Hospice; The Elizabethtown Volunteer Fire Department and Elizabethtown-Lewis Emergency Squad. Charles Austin ReynoldsAustin, Texas — Charles Austin Reynolds (Chuck), passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Chuck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 46 years, Alice Reynolds; daughter, Sherri and husband Paul Robin; three sons, Brian and wife Dorothy Reynolds, Charles Jr. and wife Stephanie Reynolds and Kevin and wife Gina Reynolds; grandsons, David Robin, Matthew Reynolds and Ian Reynolds; and granddaughter, Rachel Reynolds. He was born May 23, 1934, Chuck was the only child of Charles and Roselle Reynolds of Cadyville, N.Y. He graduated from Plattsburgh High School and Plattsburgh Business Institute. He served as a Radarman in the United States Navy aboard the carrier USS Tarawa during the Korean Conflict. After 35 years as division manager for the Austin, Texas region, Chuck retired from Lorillard in 1997. During his retirement, Chuck enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, playing golf and attending Navy reunions, as well as spending time with his beloved pets, Clancy and Sassy. His wonderful sense of humor, loving and helpful guidance will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jess Thompson, Dr. Michel Kasper and all of the staff at Texas Oncology for all of the love and support that they provided to Chuck and his family. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, with a vigil service to be held at 8 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. in Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hill. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville. Bertha LaPorte, 74, of the Sand Road in Morrisonville, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Arveds Jurjevics, 96, of Pine Street, Lake Placid, N.Y., died Dec. 25, 2003, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. He was born April 25, 1907, the son of Francis and Alma (Minke) Jurjevics. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Rev. Judson Pealer officiated. Burial to follow in North Elba Cemetery. F. Jean Jesmer, 78, of West Valley Road, Lake Placid died Dec. 25, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born in Lake Placid, Nov. 4, 1925 the daughter of Loyal and Alma (LaMountain) Beeman. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. Clayton Rushford, 65, of Route 3, Saranac, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville. Dorothy Mary Barlow (Hayes), 79, resident of Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center. She was born in Watervleit, N.Y., the daughter of Exilda and Richard Hayes. Funeral arrangements are in care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, N.Y. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband. |
