Published: 12/22/03Michael H. DixonMORRISONVILLE — Michael H. Dixon, 67, of Banker Road, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at CVPH Medical Center. He was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Schenectady, the son of George and Georgia (Hodges) Dixon. Michael was a graduate of St. Columbus High School in Schenectady, attended Siena College and was a graduate of Plattsburgh State University College. Prior to attending Siena College he served in the United States Army. Michael taught at St. Peter’s School in Plattsburgh, was a teacher of mathematics at Clinton Correctional Facility for 17 years and Beekmantown Central School, retiring after 29 years. He enjoyed horses and football. Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn J. (Hyson) Dixon of Morrisonville; six children, Michele Snyder and Curt of Morrisonville, Michael Dixon and Angelina of Rotterdam, Patrick Dixon and Sarah of West Chazy, Maureen Dixon of Guilderland, Robert Dixon and Dana of Plattsburgh, and Elaine Dixon and Christopher Belair of Morrisonville; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Katherine, Kevin, Timothy, Hannah, Paige, Sean, Liam and Jacob; two brothers, Stephen Dixon and Joanne of Massena, and Thomas Dixon and Eileen of Rotterdam; two sisters, Mary Ellen Daly and Frank of Schenectady and Claire Snow and Theodore of East Greenbush; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Dixon-Foley of Schenectady; his aunt, Sister Stephen Marie Dixon of Latham; and many nieces and nephews. Michael was pre-deceased by a brother, Timothy Dixon. Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later next year in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. NELSON L. SHOVA, 78, of 1414 County Route 8, North Bangor, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. Born in Malone on April 28, 1925, he was the son of Joseph W. and Eva Trombley. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Funeral arrangements are through St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home Inc. PAUL C. SPRAGUE, 89, of Fairy Lake Road, Moriah, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born in Moriah on Sept. 22, 1914, the son of Charles and Nellie (Phinney) Sprague. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. HELEN M. TWYMAN, 81, of Witherbee, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Whitehall on Aug. 17, 1922, the daughter of Robert and Nellie (Ames) Brown. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. Spring burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. |
