lda E. Surprenant

Mooers Forks — Ida E. Surprenant, 89, of Mooers Forks, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.

She was born in Altona on Jan. 13,1914, the daughter of Phillip and Clara (Peete) Patnode.

She worked at the Shoe Factory in Mooers and Trebor’s in Keeseville. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks and the Ladies of St. Ann.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Bernadette Surprenant and Bruce and Elizabeth Surprenant of Mooers, John and Joan Surprenant of Mooers Forks and Roger and Lorraine Surprenant of Las Vegas, Nev.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Robert Provost of Port Richey, Fla., Shirley and Louis Chauvin of Brewerton, N.Y., Fay and Ray Steele of Warsaw, N.Y., Diane and Ralph Cudworth of Plattsburgh and Betty and Larry Borrie of Mooers Forks; a sister, Hortense Peryea of Dannemora; 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Armand Surprenant; a son, Richard; her brothers, Frank, William and Edward Patnode; sisters, Mae Patnode and Rose Gardner; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Surprenant, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. The Ladies of St. Ann are asked to meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday from St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mooers Rescue Squad.

Anne Harrigan Gill

SCHENECTADY — Anne Harrigan Gill, 91, of Schenectady, N.Y., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Gill was born in Chateaugay, N.Y., moving to Schenectady in 1942. She was a graduate of the Potsdam Normal School and received a master's degree in art from SUNY Plattsburgh. At one time, Mrs. Gill taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Chateaugay. For 20 years Mrs. Gill taught in the Schenectady School District and then in the Niskayuna School District, until retiring. After retiring Mrs. Gill became a respected watercolorist and instructor at the Annie Schaffer Senior Center. She was a member of the Colonie Art League, the Central New York Watercolor Association, the Schenectady Art Association, the Saturday Group in Cooperstown and the Pioneer Gallery in Cooperstown.

Mrs. Gill was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady and a member of its rosary society.

Mrs. Gill is predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Gill, he died in 1968; five siblings, Sister Margaret Harrigan, Martin Harrigan, Marie Carmondy, Joseph Harrigan and Leonard Harrigan.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen M. Gill of Schenectady and Sarah Anne Gill of Saratoga Springs; two sisters, Harriet Ryan of Chateaugay and Rita d’Hemecort of Texas; one grandson, John Edward Gill-Ochal of Saratoga Springs; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenecady. The St. John the Evangelist Church Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 7 p.m. to conduct a service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted Friday at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

George W. King Jr.

SCHENECTADY — George W. King Jr., 71, of Jackson Avenue, Schenectady, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at St. Clare's Hospital.

Mr. King was born April 23, 1932, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., to George and Emma (Rasco) King.

Mr. King had lived in Schenectady for over 20 years.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years; he served in Korea and VietNam, retiring as a staff sergeant.

Subsequently, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service on New Karner Road, he was still employed at the time of his death.

Mr. King was an avid golfer and bowler.

He is survived by a son, Michael; and four grandsons, all of Japan; one sister, Annette Field of Schenectady; two brothers, Donald King and Robert King, both of Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, where the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Inurnment will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osbome Road., Loudonville, NY 12211.

John Andrews Jr.

Hicksville — John Andrews Jr. of Hicksville, died on Dec. 12, 2003.

John was the manager Street Lighting Division for LILCO, and a retired colonel of the 142nd Armor Division.

He was the beloved husband of DorothyAnne (nee Norton); devoted father of John W. (Michelle) and Wendy VonDerLinn (Robert); cherished grandfather of Lauren, Kelsey and Christopher; dear brother of Robert (Nancy).

Calling hours will be held at the Donohue Cocere Funeral Home in Westbury on Saturday between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Religious service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

Margaret Isabel Moore

Chesapeake, Va. — Margaret Isabel Moore, 88, of 1016 Oak Bark Lane, Chesapeake, VA., 23323, passed away Dec. 15, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Keeseville, the daughter of the late Ralph and Julie (Petit) Graves.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Irwin and her husband Richard of Potsdam and Rebecca Wise and her husband Anthony of Chesapeake; three sons, Dennis Moore and his wife Edna of Morrow, Ga., Ronald Moore and his wife B.J. of Florida and Thomas Moore and his wife Naomi of Chesapeake; a sister, Mae Keet of Burlington, Vt.; two brothers, Oril Graves of Keeseville and Harold James of Plattsburgh; eight grandchildren, Tonia Omeltchenko, Tresa Wilson, Ronald Moore II, Jeffrey Moore, Perry Moore, Randall Carew II, Kymberley Cole and Steven Carew; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Veronica; three brothers, George Xavier, Stanislauis and Euclid; and a granddaughter, Tammy Jean Irwin.

Services will be held at the Snellings Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Va. Committal service will be held in the spring at a date to be announced, in St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville.

Local arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

EVA S. AGNEW, 99, formerly of Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Hallmark Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec, 7, 1904, the daughter of Charles and Delphine (Ano) Garrow.

A graveside service will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in the spring.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas Rice, 62, of Memphis, Tenn., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Nancy Webster, 62, of Mooers, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Queens on May 17, 1941, the daughter of John and Jean (Wacewiz) Webster.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers is in charge of arrangements.

Fay H. Waite, 75 of Tupper Lake, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Tupper Lake. A service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery in May.
