Elizabeth Videto Gilmore

Berlin, Vt. — Elizabeth Videto Gilmore, 94, of Berlin, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin, Vt.

She was born in Mentor, Ohio, on June 17, 1909, the daughter of Horatio and Julia (Kirby) Bale. She was adopted and raised by Helen Videto of Berlin Corner.

She graduated from West Tech High School in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1929 and Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, in 1933 with a bachelor of arts in music.

She was married in Vergennes, Vt., to Stanley Gilmore Sr. on June 28, 1944. He died in 1969. She had taught music in Cabot, Wilmington, Vt., Ticonderoga, N.Y., Bennington and Saranac, N.Y., retiring from teaching in 1971.

After retiring from teaching in Saranac, N.Y., she returned to Berlin and was a member and organist at the Berlin Church for several years.

Survived by one son Stanley Gilmore Jr. of Hampstead, Md.; and two daughters, Cindy Mooty and Susan Vasquez of Louisiana; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A son, Larry Gilmore, predeceased her.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Barber & Lanier Funeral Home, 139 Main St., Montpelier, Vt. Calling hour from 1 p.m. until time of service. Later burial will be in the Saranac Independent Cemetery in Saranac, N.Y.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Berlin Congregational Church.

William I. Tacy, 87, of Collins Street, Chateaugay, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y., where he had been a patient since Dec. 2, 2003.

Calling hours are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8th, at the Chateaugay Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A full obituary will be published in Monday's paper.

John C. Soper, 82, of South Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
