C. Arthur Darrow

Keene — C. Arthur Darrow, 93, of Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003.

He was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Webster, N.Y., the son of James and Lillian (Dickinson) Darrow.

C. Arthur worked for many years in maintenance and as a millwright in Rochester, N.Y., before retiring to Keene for the last 30 years.

He was an avid golfer with a scratch handicap and a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Schnurle of Ocala, Fla.; two granddaughters, Maureen Tighe of Clifton Park and Sharon Tighe of Canadaguia, N.Y.; two brothers, Wilbur and Dorothy of Rochester and Ralph and Jean of California; several nieces and nephews; his former wife and friend, Madeline Darrow of Rochester; and many dear friends, especially, Billy and Laura Campbell, Alvin and Dorothy Goldman and David and Carolyn Vansise.

He was predeceased by one grandson, Micheal Tighe; and two sisters, Mabel Lohrman and Mildred Hamman.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Norton Cemetery in Keene.

Raymond G. LaBombard

PLATTSBURGH — Raymond G. LaBombard, 89, of St. John’s Street, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 21, 1914, the son of William and Elmira (LaValley) LaBombard.

He was married to the former Charlotte Lyons who predeceased him in 1998.

He was a resident of Plattsburgh all his life. In his earlier years, he was employed by Bouyea Baking Co., as head mixer. He then entered the field of plumbing and heating and was employed by Parrott’s Plumbing and Heating, M.A. Hardy and A. Fortin & Sons. He started his own business in 1959, under the name of Ray’s Burner Service until his retirement.

Mr. LaBombard was an avid bowler and was president to the Senior Citizens Bowling League for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond LaBombard Jr. and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh and Gary LaBombard and his wife Linda of Piedmont, S.C.; two daughters, Mona Mayo of Scotia, N.Y., and Jeanne Leagon of Morrisonville; one stepdaughter, Jane LeFebvre of Plattsburgh; one sister, Beatrice Bosley of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren; nine great-grand-children; and one stepgrandson.

Three brothers, William, Leo and Edward LaBombard; and three sisters, Mildred LaMay, Florence Peck and Alice Trombley, all of Plattsburgh; and one stepsister, Helen LaPointe, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Nelson S. Baker

West Chazy — Mr. Nelson S. "Butch" Baker, 60, of A & J Lane, West Chazy passed away suddenly Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Aug. 12, 1943, the son of Nelson C. and Grace (Parrott) Baker.

Butch had worked on the Castine Dairy Farm in Chazy. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Butch was predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Grace Baker; his brothers, Russell and Robert Baker; and his sister, Laura Gadway.

He is survived by his companion, Betty Jean Matott of West Chazy; one son, Daniel Baker of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Karen Kittridge and her husband Alan of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Dora VanHeuverzwyn and her husband James of Plattsburgh and Betty Harvey and her husband Charles of Barnstead, N.H.; his grandchildren, Amber, Alicia and Amy; his companion’s children, Donna Merrill of Eljin, Ill., Paul Rock of Chazy, N.Y., Michael Rock and his wife Laura of Dannemora, N.Y., and Roger Rock and his wife Tina and their children, Brittany and Megan of Chazy; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Interment will follow in the Ingraham Cemetery.

Louis B. Mulcahy

Plattsburgh — Louis B. Mulcahy, 93, of Beekman Street and formerly of Albany, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Troy on June 17, 1910, daughter of the late Alexander and Katherine (Booth) Bain.

She married Robert Hillard Mulcahy on Nov. 12, 1933, who preceded her on May 10, 1977. She was also predeceased by a sister, Katherine Bain.

While living in Albany, Mrs. Mulcahy was a volunteer for many civic and religious organizations. After moving to Plattsburgh in 1993 to be near her family, she continued her volunteer work at CVPH Medical Center, The Kent-Delord House and the Ladies of Charity. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Altar Rosary Society.

Mrs. Mulcahy is survived by a daughter, Sheila Mulcahy Wylie of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, Gregory S. Wylie of Burlington, Vt., Mary Elizabeth Wylie of Kingston, Ontario, and Andrew and Nathalie Wylie of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alexander R. Wylie, Henry M. Wylie, Jack A. Wylie and Peter Joseph Wylie of Plattsburgh and Molly Mulcahy Cordell and Katherine Elizabeth Cordell, both of Kingston, Ontario.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 10 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will in the St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, N.Y.

Donations in Mrs. Mulcahy’s memory may be made to the Seton Catholic Central Capitol Campagne at 5135 North Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
