Published: 11/09/03Edith M. WilkePORT HENRY, N.Y. — Edith M. Wilke, 84, of Broad Street, Port Henry, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at her home. Edith was born in England on June 17, 1919, the daughter of Samual and Nellie (Wheeler) Ashe. She came to the United States when she was two years old, when her father, Samual Ashe (a native of Ticonderoga) returned to the area with his family. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Town of Moriah Highway Department and then for the Essex County Department of Social Services until her retirement. She was active in the formation of the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Wilke of Florida, Joan Blomstran of Ohio, Sally Wilke of Port Henry and Betty Perkins of Arizona; her sister, Dorothy Rasmussen of Ticonderoga; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Wilke; and her brothers, Leonard Ashe, Joseph Ashe, Elmer Ashe and Edward Ashe. Calling hours will be held Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, N.Y. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memory donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956. Florence H. HebertTiconderoga — Florence H. Hebert, 83, formerly of Algonkin Street and most recently of Montcalm Manor Adult Home, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. She was born in Crown Point on Dec. 7, 1919, the daughter of Watson and Alice (Rogers) Woods. Mrs. Hebert and her husband Leo spent many years in the Syracuse area where she was employed by the McMillian Book Company of Syracuse. They then returned to this area and resided in Ticonderoga. She was a member of the American Legion Post 224 Ladies Auxiliary of Ticonderoga. Mrs. Hebert was predeceased by her husband, Leo E. Hebert and by her son, Clifford Hebert. Survivors include one sister, Loretta Beeman of Ticonderoga; one nephew, Karlton Beeman of Ticonderoga; three sisters-in-law, Jane Wright of Charleston, S.C., and Eleanor Manley and Della Hughes, both of Ticonderoga; and one brother - in-law, William Hebert of Syracuse. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at noon. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw, of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the White Church Cemetery of Crown Point. A Memorial Mass will take place at a later date at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. Alexis M. Lauzon, 2 1/2 year-old daughter of Murray Lauzon and Adrianne Mullis of Fort Covington, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Nov. 7, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, N.Y. Alexis was born in Fort Covington on March 7, 2001. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington. Burial will be in the new St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington. Mary Angela Mason, 80, formerly of Plattsburgh and residing in Shelburne, Vt., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, in Shelburne, Vt. Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at 1 p.m. from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. |
