Published: 11/06/03Ronald John (R.J.) WintersPutnam Station — Ronald John (R.J.) Winters, 55, of Putnam Station, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at the Moses - Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. He was born in Glens Falls on Aug. 11, 1948, the son of John Winters of Clemons and Florence Beebe of Putnam Station. Mr. Winters was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1968. He served for six years in the National Guard, out of Whitehall and was trained at Fort Polk, La. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga from 1968 until 1970. He was then employed by the Department of Corrections as a Correction Officer from 1970 until the present at the Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock, N.Y. Mr. Winters was baptized at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga in September of 1974 and married Mary Lou (Clark) Winters in December of 1974. Ron loved doing things for friends and neighbors. He also worried about and took care of his family. He will be greatly missed. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Mary Lou (Clark) Winters; two sons, Jason Winters and his wife Kate (Tesar) Winters of Putnam Station and Raymond Winters and his friend Nickcole Pozzouli of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Glenn Winters and his wife Nancy of Whitehall, Richard Beebe and his friend Sharon Weiss of Putnam Station and Leonard Beebe and his wife Mary of Crown Point; and one sister, Cathy Lennox and her husband Craig of Granville. He is also survived by three nieces, four nephews and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be private. Donations in R.J.'s memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga. Jeannette B. "Jean" BusheyMorrisonville — Jeannette B. "Jean" Bushey, 76, of West Main Street, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 10, 1926, daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Hayes) Newell. Jeannette was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. She and her late husband owned and operated Marvin's Sports Shop in Morrisonville. She enjoyed camping and fishing, the ocean and sunshine. She was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed family dinners at her home. Jeannette is survived by three sons and a daughter, Keith Bushey and his wife Patricia of Rotterdam, Scott Bushey and his wife Maryann of Plattsburgh, Christopher Bushey and his wife Linda of Ellenburg Center and a daughter, Kathie Bassett of West Plattsburgh; two sisters, Leona Gadway of Morrisonville and Edna Watts of Morrisonville; three sisters-in-law, Minerva Mousseau of Plattsburgh, Mildred Foti-Gerry of Plattsburgh and Shirley (Bushey) Amell of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Marvin F. Bushey, on June 11, 1998; a sister, Marion Newell; and a brother, Donald Newell. Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association. Jason J. CarnrightPlattsburgh — Jason J. Carnright, 83, of Seneca Drive in Cumberland Head, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Newburgh on July 16, 1920, son of the late Jason and Frances (Dulsky) Carnright. Jason retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1963. He was a bomber pilot during World War II in the European Theater of Operations and was a personnel officer until his retirement. He served at the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base from 1956 to 1960. He graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1965 and received a master of library science degree from SUNY Albany in 1967. He served as Assistant to Librarian at SUNY Plattsburgh from 1965 to 1971 and as Director of Libraries at Clinton Community College from 1972 until 1985 when he retired. Throughout his life in the North Country, at various times he served on the Board of Directors of the PAFB Federal Credit Union, the Kent Delord House Museum and the Plattsburgh Rotary (Noon) Club. He also served on the Beekmantown School Board, the Town of Plattsburgh Planning Board, the Church Council and Trustee at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, where he was also a Minister of Communion and Lector. He was also in many professional library organizations. In Rotary he was presented with the Paul Harris Award in 1990. In later years, he was the assistant curator of the PAFB Museum from 1985 until the base closure in 1995. Jason is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard L. Carnright of Dayton, Ohio, Michael J. and Nancy Carnright of Coraopolis, Pa., and Gregory J. and Kristin Carnright of Plattsburgh; three daughters and a son-in-law, Janice E. Carnright of Plattsburgh, Susan E. and Thomas Latinville of Plattsburgh and Deborah A. LaBombard of Plattsburgh; 12 grandchildren, Carrie A. Carnright, Jennifer S. Latinville and her fiancé Derek Fordley, Jeffrey and Theresa Latinville, Jamie and Stephanie Latinville, Jill LaBombard, Kara LaBombard, Christopher Carnright, Erica Carnright, Jessica Carnright, Brett Carnright, Brenden Carnright and Brielle Carnright; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Latinville, Lauren Latinville, Jeffrey Latinville, Marisa Latinville, Collin Latinville and Olivia Latinville; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Joseph and Mary Jane Carnright of Newburgh, Eleanor Carnright of Texas and Karen Carnright of Michigan; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Virginia Tangal of Newburgh, Gaynell Spiller of Missouri, Carol and Raphael Van Voorhis of New Windsor, Frances and George Smith of Florida, Mary Ann and John Dwight of Florida and Joyce and John Teramo of Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great - nephews. Jason was predeceased by his wife, Virginia L. Carnright, on Feb. 27, 2001; a son, Dennis J. Carnright in 1995; two brothers, Richard Carnright and Leonard Carnright; a sister, Dorothy Schandler; and three brothers-in-law, Bill Spiller, Frederick B. Rountree and Edward Tangal. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. John Andrew BuffettPlattsburgh — John Andrew Buffett, 39, of 100 Oak St., beloved son and brother, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at his residence. He was born at Physicians Hospital on Aug. 24, 1964, son of David Carl Buffett and Elizabeth Patten Buffett. John graduated from M.A.I. in 1983 with High Honors, a graduate of Clinton Community College where he was on the President's List and attended SUNY Plattsburgh for three years. He had several jobs in the area, most recently at Lowe's Building Supply. John was an activist against injustice having gotten involved in anti-abortion protests and the Irish Famine controversy and was interested in Irish history in general. John was an avid fan of Jim Morrison and "The Doors" and currently was writing an alternate biography of the group. He liked fishing with his Uncle Bill and enjoyed his home aquarium. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged. John is survived by his mother, Elizabeth P. Buffett of Plattsburgh; his father, David C. Buffett and wife Angela of Plattsburgh; two sisters and their husbands, Karen and Randal Smith of Plattsburgh and Janet and Bill Peterson of Carson City, Nev.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl and Shawnee Buffett of Albany and Neil Buffett and companion Kathy Salecki of Port Jefferson, Long Island; stepsisters Tara Reeves of Plattsburgh and Tawnya Hanson and companion Steven Brown of Beekmantown; stepbrother Anthony Hanson and his wife Sheila of Clifton Park; his uncle, William C. Patten of Plattsburgh; his aunt, Barbara Patten Cole of Rome; and several nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by his paternal uncle, Philip E. Buffett; and his grandparents. John was a very unique person, was loved by his family and he will be sorely missed by us all. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in the family plot. Evelyn Cox Farley, 86, of 963 County Rte. 25, Malone, N.Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was born in Whippleville, N.Y., on Dec. 30, 1916, the daughter of the late Floyd and Melinda (Hebert) Cox Sr. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Moringside Cemetery in Malone. James P. Perry, 66, of 44 West Main St., Malone, N.Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at his home while under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Bangor, N.Y., on May 2, 1937, the son of the late Millard and Amelia (Guerin) Perry. Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tom Moody officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Constable, N.Y. |
