Published: 10/19/03Emile J. GregoirePLATTSBURGH — Emile J. Gregoire of Perry Mills Road, Champlain, died Friday, Oct, 17, 2003, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was born March 5, 1926, in Champlain, N.Y. He was the son of Honorius and Flore (Bouchard) Gregoire. He attended local schools and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II in the Aleutian Islands. Mr. Gregoire was employed at Harris Graphics in Champlain, N.Y., as a mechanic for 40 plus years, until its closing. He enjoyed hiking, biking and mountain climbing for many years and he was a member of North Country Squares and Northern Lights Square Dance groups. He is survived by four loving daughters, Susan and Lou Davis of Plattsburgh, Denise and Fred Peterson of Cody, Wyo., Beth and Neil Walker of Champlain and Kristine and Joseph Moore Sr. of Bullville, N.Y. He is also survived by four brothers, Maurice of Okala, Fla., John of Tacoma, Wash., Donald and Lynn of Tribes Hill, N.Y., and Dennis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four sisters, Gertrude O'Neil of Grandville, N.Y., Pauline and James Lammers of Champlain, Jeanne Brennan of Rouses Point and Rita and Richard Johnson of Morrisonville, N.Y. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Damian and Adam Faubert, Shane Lynch, Colleen Wallace, Dana Nichols, Justin and Nathan Bushey and Joseph and Shannon Moore. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Marcel, Leo and Gerard; one sister, Doris Lucille; and two brothers-in-law, James Brennan and Patrick O'Neil. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19th at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 20th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Mary's Church in Champlain, N.Y., or to Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Anne Stetson TurnerIsle LaMotte, Vt. — Anne Stetson Turner, 94, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 1, 2003, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, N.Y., surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. She was born Oct. 10, 1908, in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Martha Anne Hubbell and Dr. John Smedley Stetson of Chazy, N.Y. She grew up in Chazy and after graduation from Chazy Central Rural School, received a degree in library sciences from Simmons College. Mrs. Turner was married in 1936 to Selby Lawrence Turner of Pink Hill, N.C., who predeceased her in 1998. They resided in New York City, Florida and Isle La Motte, Vt. Mrs. Turner is survived by her son, Selby Lawrence Turner Jr. and his wife Maureen Finnerty of Still River, Mass., and by her daughter, Martha Dale and her husband Robert Dale of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Selby Lawrence Turner III and his wife Allyson of Westford, Mass., Sarah Rodda and her husband Matthew Rodda of Bellevue, Wash., Maxwell Dale of San Francisco, Calif., Grady Turner of Essex Junction, Vt., and Molly Turner, a junior at St. Lawrence University. Her three great-grandchildren are Samantha and Kole Turner of Westford Mass., and Phoebe Anne Rodda of Bellevue, Wash. Helen Stetson Tanner of Plattsburgh and Chazy, N.Y., was Mrs. Turner’s sister and predeceased her in 1994. Mrs. Turner was the last in her generation of Chazy Hubbells and was a granddaughter of Margaret Louise Beckwith and John Wolcott Hubbell, dating from the turn of the 19th century. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and very proud of her ancestors, including Nathaniel Platt, one of the founding Platts of Plattsburgh, Judge Pliny Moore of Champlain, N.Y., and General Benjamin Mooers of Mooers, N.Y. She was passionate about her family and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Turner’s family celebrated what would have been her 95th birthday on Oct. 10th. A memorial service will be held next summer on Isle La Motte, Vt. Donations may be made in Mrs. Turner’s memory to either the Old Stone Church, Isle La Motte, VT 05463 or to Cedar Hedge Nursing Home, 260 Lake St., Rouses Point, NY 12979. Joan M. Martin, 49, of Plattsburgh, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Champlain on March 7, 1954, the daughter of Francis and Georgette Timmons. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Wendell L. Wilson, 78, of Montcalm Avenue, Plattsburgh, died at his home Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 14, 1925, the son of Lewin and Katherine (Bigelow) Wilson. Calling hours will be on Monday, Oct. 20th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Ralph Mousseau, 79, of Facteau Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 9, 1924, the son of George and Ida (Newell) Mousseau. Calling hours will be on Monday, Oct. 20th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. |
