Published: 10/14/03Madeline BroderickPLATTSBURGH — Madeline Broderick, 81, formerly of 2 Pinewood Drive, Plattsburgh, died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Gaffney, S.C., on Oct. 3, 1922, the daughter of Simpson and Guineta (Feagan) Ledford. She was married to George F. Wagner of Buffalo, N.Y., who died on April 16, 1953. She married Maurice F. Broderick in Peru, N.Y., on Sept. 11, 1954. Maurice died on June 2, 2003. Mrs. Broderick was office manager for Broderick Motors from 1954 through 1986. Madeline was also office manager for Airborne Speedway. Mrs. Broderick was widely known for her knowledge of antiques and had been the owner and operator of Antiques Etc. antique shoppe. She was an avid skier and enjoyed traveling with her husband. Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Wagner of Martinsburg, W. Va.; three sons, George Wagner and his wife Marcia, Jeffery Wagner and his wife Barbara and Kevin Broderick and dear friend Ann Larkin, all of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Arthur Ledford and Tearl Ledford, both of South Carolina; and two grandsons, Karl Kauffman and Russell Wagner; four sisters-in-law, Dorris Breyette, Rachel Broderick, Marie Alois and Lillian Murphy also survive. She is also predeceased by a grandson, Drew Kauffman. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral services to be held at 10 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Home Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 16, with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Clara M. LambertPlattsburgh — Clara M. Lambert, 93, of Court Street, passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Ellenburg on Aug. 6, 1910, daughter of John and Ida (Nichols) Young. Her husband passed away on Nov. 28, 1993. Clara is survived by one son, Robert Lambert of Burlington, Vt.; one grandson, Shawn Lambert of Vail, Colo.; one sister, Della Cote of Coopersville; two brothers, John Young and his wife Florence of Tucson, Ariz., and Francis Young and his wife Rosalind of West Chazy; and several nieces and nephews. Clara was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh and the Senior Citizen’s Council of Clinton County. Calling hours will be Tuesday morning from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 12 noon from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Lillian M. MischlerPlattsburgh — Lillian M. Mischler, 81, of Boynton Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at her home under the care of her devoted husband, Russell. She was born in Chazy on April 28, 1922, daughter of Bert and Gertrude (Bosley) Laramie. Lillian and her first husband, Ira Henry owned and operated Henry’s Market in Plattsburgh, the Stardust Drive-In in Plattsburgh and the Border Drive-In in Honey Mooers Comers. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church. Lillian is survived by her husband, Russell Mischler of Plattsburgh; three children, Allen Henry and his wife Louise of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Cathy Henry-Aucoin of Chazy, and Cindy Henry of Chazy; six grandchildren, Nicole Henry-Jones and her husband Brian Jones of Colorado, Eric Henry of Plattsburgh, Shawn Wallace of Plattsburgh, Ashley Wallace of Plattsburgh, David Aucoin of Chazy and Travis Aucoin of Chazy; two great-grandchildren, Kelcey Jones and Bryce Jones of Colorado. Calling hours will be at her home on 80 Boynton Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, and Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, starting at 12 noon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 11 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Ruth A. Thompson (Lobdell) DuttonWEST PLATTSBURGH — Ruth A. Dutton, 73, of 1265 Route 3, West Plattsburgh, died on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, after a lengthy stay at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Dannemora on Nov. 27, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Betters) Thompson. Ruth was married in 1950 to Rae Lobdell who died in 1967 and has one surviving daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia (Lobdell) and Eugene Trudeau of Piney Point, Md.; three grandchildren and three great-grandsons, Michelle Frankenberg of Florida and Cody of Maryland, Cory and Donnelle Jock (USN) and her four children of California. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ann Rock of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Grace Lobdell of Connecticut; and a brother-in-law, Walter Lobdell of Albany, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Millie Thompson of Saranac; and a brother-in-law, John Kourofsky of Dannemora; several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include her husband, Roger Dutton whom she married in 1970; and his three children; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; Connie and Bill Hathaway of Morrisonville and their children Laura and Michael, Roger (Billy) and Cathy Dutton of Long Island and their children, Amanda and Mathew, Mark and Bonnie Dutton of Peru and their children Jason and Nicole and her son Sawyer, Erica and her son, Alex and Kristin. Ruth was predeceased by a brother, Richard Thompson; and two sisters, Isabelle Gordon and Helen Kourofsky. At her request, there will be no calling hours, however there will be a service for the family at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. with burial in St. James Cemetery, Cadyville, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cadyville Wesleyan Church. Lona L. GarrandPLATTSBURGH, NY — Lona L Garrand, 56, of 5379 Peru Street, Plattsburgh, died on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh on July 25, 1947, the daughter of Leonard and Marion (Duteau) Patnode. Lona married Robert F. Garrand in St. Mary’s Church in Champlain on Nov. 23, 1973. Mrs. Garrand worked in food service for 26 years at the CVPH Medical Center. She was formerly a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Champlain. Mrs. Garrand was an avid Jeff Gordon, NASCAR fan. Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Garrand of Plattsburgh; one son, Christopher Garrand of Plattsburgh; her father, Leonard Patnode of Champlain; one brother, Lyle Patnode and his wife Patricia of Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Crystal and her husband Joe Edgerton of Champlain; also several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Downs, 59, of New Paltz and formerly of Peru, died at the Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie following a one year courageous battle with cancer. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home in New Paltz. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in New Paltz. Local questions may be directed to the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Funeral Notice Bourey — A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh for Daisy O. Bourey, 82, of Plattsburgh who died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. The Rev. Clark Callender, pastor, officiated the service. The organist was Nancy Strimel. The pall bearers were Larry Bourey, Peter Bourey, Brent Johnson, Tom Gale, Butch Morgan and Kevin Bushey. Internment followed at Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Plattsburgh where Rev. Callender recited the committal prayers. Arrangements were with Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. |
