Howard C. DuBray

PLATTSBURGH — Howard C. DuBray, 83, of 57 Tremblay Ave., died Saturday Oct. 4, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Standish, N.Y., on Feb. 4, 1920, the son of Henry and Lottie Elizabeth (Duquette) DuBray. He married the former Ethelwynne "Any" Howe in Plattsburgh on July 24, 1948; she died in 1984.

He was a communicant of St. John’s Church. He was a 25 year member of American Post #20 of Plattsburgh and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #309 of Peru. He was a U.S. Army vet, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Mr. DuBray was a member of the Plattsburgh City Police Department, retiring in 1968 as a lieutenant after 19 years of service.

Survivors include a companion, Lillian Washer; one son, Howard T. DuBray of New Windsor, N.Y.; three daughters, Donna DuBray, Peggy Hand and her husband, Daniel; and Elizabeth DuBray, all of Plattsburgh; one brother, Leo DuBray and his wife, Anna Mae, of Massena; one sister, Eileen Froats and her husband, Carl, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

One daughter, Nancy MacDonald, two sisters, Geraldine Pray and Thelma Szarka and one brother, Robert DuBray, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. VFW services will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home followed by American Legion services at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery.

Donations, in his memory, may be made to the VFW Post #309 Color Guard.

Madeline K. Haley

PROCTOR, Vt. — Madeline K. Haley, 90, of Proctor, Vt., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Park Terrace in Rutland.

She was born in Proctor, May 25, 1913, the daughter of Gustav and Emma (Ott) Kupferer.

She was a graduate of Proctor High School class of 1932. She was married to John C. Haley, who died Nov. 4, 1996.

Mrs. Haley was employed in the Trust Department at Proctor Trust Co. in Proctor for 26 years.

She was a member of St. Dominic’s Church and a former member of Court St. Rose.

Surviving are two daughters, Joan Ward and her husband, Robert, of Proctor, and their children, Sean, Christopher and Erin; Mary Tisdale and her husband, William, of Chazy, and their children, Mark, and Matthew, wife, Amy, and great-granddaughter, Sarah Anne; and son, Mark Haley and his wife, Mary, of Plattsburgh and their children, Michael and Daniel; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Dominic’s Church in Proctor. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Romano, pastor. Burial will follow in South Street Cemetery in Proctor.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland, Vt.

Contributions may be made to St. Dominic’s Church.

Death Notices

RAY E. NORTHRIP, 85, of 1 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, died Oct. 2, 2003, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Springfield, Mo., Feb. 4, 1918, the son of Orrin and Anna (Harrell) Northrip.

There are no calling hours. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

PATRICIA KINGSTON, 40, of Cascade Acres, Lake Placid, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003. She was born in Dorchester, Mass., Nov. 1, 1962, the daughter of Albert and Anne (Macomber) Sinkavich.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Bible vigil service will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. J. Michael Gaffney will officiate. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. The Rev. J. Michael Gaffney will celebrate the Mass. Cremation will follow. Donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box. 740, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

HAROLD W. MARTIN SR., 76, of Barringer Road, Ilion, N.Y., died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Little Falls Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion. Funeral services will commence following visitation. Graveside committal services will be at Ilion Cemetery noon Thursday.
