Kaitlin Elizabeth-Avis Evans

PLATTSBURGH — Kaitlin Elizabeth-Avis Evans, 8, of 16 Waterhouse St. died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on July 15, 1995, the daughter of James and Cindy (Richardson) Evans.

Kaitlin was a bright child, alive with passion and joy. She was fiercely independent and strong-willed. Kaitlin loved life and fought hard for it. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she brightened and inspired each day.

Kaitlin was a 3rd-grade student at Momot Elementary School. She was a Brownie in Girl Scout Troop #22 in Plattsburgh, and played in Plattsburgh Youth Soccer.

Survivors include her parents, James and Cindy; two younger sisters, Kimberly and Lauren Evans; her paternal grandparents, James and Christina Evans of Plattsburgh; her maternal grandmother, Madelaine Pombrio of Plattsburgh; and one uncle, Brian Evans and his wife, Melissa, of Plattsburgh.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Edward Richardson.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations, in her memory, be made to the CVPH Medical Center Foundation.

Marie D. LaPoint

JERICHO — Marie D. LaPoint, 87, of Rand Hill Road died Saturday evening, Sept. 27, 2003, at the Clinton County Nursing Facility.

She was born in Jericho on Aug. 23, 1916, the daughter of Gilbert and Hattie (Myette) Lashway. She was married to Freemont LaPoint in 1936 and they resided in Mechanicville and Jericho. Freemont died in 1975.

Mrs. LaPoint was a communicant of Holy Angels Church in Altona.

She was a member of the Altona Senior Citizens and former member of the Clinton County Home Bureau.

Survivors include one son, Euclid "Uke" Cadrette and his wife, Mary, of Lisbon, NY; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

One daughter, Gloria Lashway; a sister, Ruth Garrant; and a brother, Louis Horsler, all died earlier.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations, in her memory, may be made to Hospice of the North Country.

Ronald Patrick Ryan

TICONDEROGA — Ronald Patrick "Pat" Ryan, 66, of Streetroad, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

Born in Saranac Lake, April 15, 1937, he was the son of the late D. Walter and Anne Bernice (Campbell) Ryan.

Pat grew up in Saranac Lake and was a 1955 graduate of Saranac Lake High School.

He was employed by J.J. Newberry’s as store manager for many years. Prior to transferring from Maine to Ticonderoga, with Newberry’s, he met his wife, the former Carole M. Lachance. The couple were married on Aug. 31, 1963, and have resided in Ticonderoga ever since.

He also managed the National Army Store in Ticonderoga, and most recently was merchandiser for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company of Keeseville until his retirement in 2001.

Pat was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga.

He was a member of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce and the local downtown Merchants Association. He was a member of the St. Isaac Jogues Council #333 Knights of Columbus of Ticonderoga.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the Marine Corp. League.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carole M. (Lachance) Ryan; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly R. and David D. Davies of Victor; one brother, Walter J. Ryan of Captiva Island, Fla.; two sisters, Audrey A. Maloney of Fayetteville, and Marilyn C. Clement of Saranac Lake; and one granddaughter, Danielle M. Davies of Victor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Catholic wake service will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will take place 11 a.m. Thursday at the family plot in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, 1 Depot St., Ticonderoga, NY 12883; or High Peaks Hospice, P.O. Box 195, Mineville, NY 12956; or St. Mary’s School Adopt A Student, 301 Amherst Avenue, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

Helen B. LaBounty

CHAZY — Helen B. LaBounty, 95, formerly of Chazy, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Chesterfield on May 10, 1908, the daughter of Sedgwick Darwin and Sunella (Robbins) Bruce.

She was employed as a secretary for the Chazy Lime Company for many years. She loved animals and antiques as well as interior decorating. She was an avid bowler and once bowled a perfect game of 300.

She is survived by two sisters Olga Buck and Leita B. Nelson, both of Dannemora; two nephews, Jeffrey B. Nelson of Manomet, Mass. and Bruce Macey of Jamestown, N.Y..

Her husband, Albert LaBounty died in 2000. A sister, Hilda Macey died in 1998.

There will be no calling hours. A committal service will be held at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh at a time to be announced.

Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Nursing Home.

The O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth R. Moore

MOOERS — Ruth R. Moore, 74, of Champlain passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family. She was born in Feb. 1, 1929 in Altona the daughter of Austin and Ruby Guay. She was an avid BINGO player and a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary in Moores.

Her husband, Owen Moore who passed away in 1985, two brothers, Larry and Austin Jr., and four sisters, Elise Guay, Vera Guerin, Vivian Rogers and Erma Guerin predecease her.

Survivors include one son, Michael O. Moore of Champlain; six daughters, Theda and Max Doser of Chazy, Brenda Moore and her companion Joseph Colello of Albany, Judy Moore and her companion Dana Helms of Rochester, Theresa and James Myers of Cohoes, Marlene and Daniel Timmons of Moores, Alena Moore and her companion Dale Brown of West Chazy; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two great grandchildren on the way; her very special best friend, Shirley Burl formerly of Champlain; four sisters, Bertha Guerin of Ellenburg, Marjorie Brileya of New Mexico, Dorothy and Richard Guerin of Ellenburg, Rita and Lance Collins of Sandy Creek; a sister-in-law, Loretta Ero-Guay and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 29, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain.

Death Notices

DORIS BECHARD, 86, of Lakeshore Road, Chazy, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

MARY M. MERCURIO, 96, died Sunday, Sept. 28.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church.

WAYNE G. FLEURY, 77, of 1334 County Route 25, Malone, and a winter resident of Ocala, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He had been a patient there since Sept. 9, 2003.

Born in Hartford, Conn., on Oct. 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Emma (Dumas) Fleury.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Notre Dame Church in Malone, with Msgr. Dennis Duprey officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Constable, at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Country, Inc. in Malone.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.

JOHN A. FLEURY, 57, of Route 122, Constable, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003.

Born in New York City on Dec. 2, 1945, the son of the late Anthony and Jeanne (Archambault) Fleury.

There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Constable.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Constable Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Service, Inc. of Malone.
