Leo J. Miller

MORRISONVILLE — Leo J. Miller, 67, of Rabideau Street, Morrisonville, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 3, 1936, the son of Leo J. and Viola (Gerou) Miller.

Mr. Miller was a communicant of St. James Minor Church in Cadyville.

He married the former Anna Rock at St. James Church on Sept. 8, 1956. Leo attended Plattsburgh High School. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1961. Leo was employed at American Optical for 13 years, then at the Town of Schuyler Falls and later at X-Plo Corporation for several years.

Leo was an avid bowler for a number of years, both at Plattsburgh Lanes and North Bowl Lanes.

Survivors include his wife Anna; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Rock of Morrisonville; a daughter, Debra Howard of Morrisonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Lee and Lynn Miller of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Willis Arthur of Plattsburgh; three grandsons, Jeremy Howard and CJ and Jesse Frenyea of Plattsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Anita Joan and Earl Grayson of Cortland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lewis "Butch" Miller; and two sisters, Patricia Ann LaVoie and Frances Myrtle Coss.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. James Minor Church in Cadyville at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be given to the St. James Minor Church Memorial Fund.

Irene Yasment

Lyon Mountain — Irene Yasment, 87, of the Standish Road, Lyon Mountain, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was born in Standish, N.Y., on July 11, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Mimi (Beaudin) Romeo.

She was married to Clemens Yasment on April 19, 1936, in Standish, N.Y. He predeceased her on Dec. 16, 1969.

Mrs. Yasment is survived by five daughters, Joan LaMare of Morrisonville, N.Y., Nancy Layhee of Canton, N.Y., Judy Darrah of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Sally Yasment of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Carol Walker of Keeseville, N.Y.; three sons, Mike Yasment of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., Bill Yasment of Gamesvoort, N.Y., and Frank Yasment of Chula-Vista, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; and a long time companion, Gerald Peets of Ellenburg.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and two sons, Clem and John Yasment.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, in St. Bernard's Church with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home, Chateaugay, N.Y.

Leo J. Pearl

Cliff Haven — Leo J. Pearl (Jack), 75, of Champlain Drive, Cliff Haven, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 26, 2003, at CVPH Hospital in Plattsburgh.

Jack was born on May 9, 1928, in Carthage, N.Y., the eldest son of Leo A. Pearl and Eva (Roach) Pearl.

Jack was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and later served in the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot from 1951 to 1955. After his time in the Navy, he worked as a part owner of the family business, The Plattsburgh Dairy, on Sailly Avenue in Plattsburgh until the early 1970's. He then worked for Schonbek & Co. of Montreal and later headquartered in Plattsburgh. Finally, he worked until his retirement for Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point, N.Y.

Jack served as president of the YMCA in Plattsburgh; was Grand Knight and lifetime member of the Plattsburgh Knights of Columbus Council 255; was president of the St. John's parish council; and on the St. John's Academy school board. He was a member of St. John the Baptist parish in Plattsburgh.

Jack loved life, especially his family, which brought him his greatest joys. An avid golfer, he was a member of Bluff Point Golf & Country Club (and was playing a round as recently as Wednesday, Sept. 24th). One of his greatest joys was surrounding himself with his grandchildren; he took particular delight in teaching these grandchildren to ski. He also loved gardening and traveling, especially to visit his family.

Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret Buckley Pearl of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; his eight children, Mary Theresa Frechette and husband Charles Frechette, Kathleen Hughes and husband William Hughes and Anne Pearl, all of Newport News, Va., Timothy Pearl and his wife Laura Harding Pearl of Dover, N.H., Daniel Pearl and his wife Mary Julie Pearl of Cary, Ill., John Pearl and his wife Patricia Pearl of New Milford, Conn., Margaret Mundy and her husband Craig Mundy of LaGrange, Ga., and Michael Pearl and his wife Susana Pearl of Redwood City, Calif.; and his 27 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Pearl and his wife Jane Pearl, his brother Thomas Pearl and his wife Agnes Pearl; and his sister, Mary Margaret Ireland and her husband Donald Ireland, all of Plattsburgh.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 255 are asked to meet Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. for services at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Plattsburgh with a reception in the basement of the church following the burial ceremony at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Academy, Seton Catholic High School and St. John's Church. Mass cards and prayers would also be greatly appreciated for the repose of his soul.

Roger F. Bodah

Altona — Mr. Roger F. Bodah, 55, of the Woods Falls Road, Altona, died suddenly Sept. 25, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 19, 1948, the son of Joseph and Unetha (Clark) Bodah.

Roger had served in the U.S. Marines. He had worked for the Town of Altona and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Unetha Bodah.

Roger is survived by his children, Lisa Bodah and her companion Raymond LaBelle of Perry’s Mills and Jody Bodah and his wife Dee of Altona; his companion, Debra Barbeau of Altona; his former wife, Linda McDonald of Mooers Forks; a brother and sister, Joseph Bodah and his wife Theresa of Altona and Joanne Bodah of Washington; his half brothers, Armond Therrian and his wife Pauline of Kentucky and Carl Therrian and his wife Betty of Massena; his grandchildren, Megan, Katrina and Allison; and two very special children to him, Samantha and Sidney; several nieces and nephews; his former brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Nel Patnode of Plattsburgh, Grant and Laura Wilson of Altona, Randy and Amy Patnode of Ellenburg Center, Wallace and Sandra LaGoy of Ellenburg Depot, Judith Barber of Minnesota, Allen and Debby Provost of Plattsburgh, James Patnode of Plattsburgh and Ellen Rabideau of Ellenburg Depot.

There will be no calling hours.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Lisa Bodah, 530 Perry's Mills Road, Champlain, N.Y.

Friends wishing may make donations to the Altona Fire Department.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Altona.

Richard Bruce Hessing, 49, of Schuyler Terrace, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center with his family at his side.

He was born in Rockville Center, Long Island, on June 9, 1954, the son of Richard Karl and Patricia (Morris) Hessing.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Adirondack Lane, Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Velma D. Clausen, 73, of the Robert Long Apartments, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in St. Charles, Ill., on Jan. 9, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Verna (Decker) Clarke.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Kaitlin E.A. Evans, 8, of 16 Waterhouse St., Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on July 15, 1995, the daughter of James and Cindy (Richardson) Evans.

The arrangements for calling hours and funeral services were incomplete as of Saturday evening at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.
