Doris B. (Bachelor) Fox

East Greenbush — Doris B. (Bachelor) Fox, 79, of Alva Street, East Greenbush, quietly passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Flint, Mich., she had been a resident of the capital region for many years and worked as a LPN for Albany Medical Center Hospital Intensive Care Unit for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

Predeceased by her husband, James H. Fox; and a daughter, Peggy F. Huchro. Doris was also predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Carpenter and Joanne Ford; and a brother, Jack Bachelor.

She is survived by two sisters, Sondra (Gordon) Spink of Flint, Mich., and Barbara Paul of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son-in-law John F. Huchro of Rouses Point; brother-in-law, Thomas Carpenter of Lake Michigan; also survived by two grandsons, Michael J. (Lisa) Huchro of Wilton and Christopher J. (Eve) Huchro of Chazy; and two great-grandsons, Aidan and Gabriel Huchro. Doris is also survived by a wonderful group of colleagues and friends at the intensive care unit of Albany Medical Center Hospital and many close friends.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, N.Y. or Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, 146 Lake Street, Rouses Point, N.Y.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services Thursday 12 noon at the Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain.

The family has requested that contributions in her memory be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Gary E. Lautenschuetz

Saranac — Gary E. Lautenschuetz, 55, died Sept. 8, 2003, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 8, 1948, the son of Henry and Theresa (Cayea) Lautenschuetz.

Gary was a superintendent for Siemens Technology and a member of Local 773 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Glens Falls for 36 years. He enjoyed stock car racing, golf, skiing, traveling and being with his family. Gary was also a private pilot.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lee Drollette of Saranac; two sons, Chris and his companion Theresa McComb and her daughter Alanna of Saranac and Joel and his companion April Myers of Corona, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Monique Amorelli and her husband James of Buffalo, N.Y.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Bonnie of Columbus, Ohio, Ronnie and Gerry of Redford, Roger and Penny of Glens Falls and Paul and Gail of Lake Placid; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannie and Tom Pelkey and Karen and David Watson all of Lake Placid; three granddaughters Emma, Winona and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday from St. James Minor Church in Cadyville. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery in Saranac.

Memorial Donations may be made in Gary's memory to Brigham and Women's Research in care of the family.

Gary N. Covey

Las Vegas, Nev. —

Gary N. Covey, of Black Bear Road, Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1942, son of the late Ernest and Loretta (Brothers) Covey.

Gary married the former Sherry L. Griffin on June 16, 1962, in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Gary was retired from the Plattsburgh Police Department. He also enjoyed coaching the Plattsburgh High School junior varsity baseball and basketball teams.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry L. Covey; a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Greg Kodweis; two granddaughters, Catlin and Lindsey Kodweis, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Jean Manor of Wingdale, N.Y.; a brother, Jack Covey; a brother and sister-in-law, Mahlon and Jeanette Covey; and a sister-in-law, Esther Covey, all of Plattsburgh, N.Y. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer's Association Southern Nevada Chapter, 5190 S. Valley View Boulevard, Suite 101, Las Vegas, NV 89118 or Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation, -4141 South Swenson Street, Las Vegas, NV 89195.

Richard A. Giancola

Willsboro, NY — Richard A. Giancola, 88, died at CVPH Medical Center Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, after a long illness.

He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., Sept. 6, 1915, the son of Albert and Fannie (Langbart) Giancola.

He was educated at Yonkers High School and New York University. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, while in the Navy he was a weatherman on convoy between Hawaii and the Islands. He worked for the postal service for 38 years and served as president of the New York State Southern Area Local Postal Workers Union for 10 years.

He was a real estate and insurance broker and owned Countryside Realty in Willsboro. Mr. Giancola also served on the Willsboro planning board for many years. He was a member of St. Philip of Jesus Church, Willsboro, Willsboro-Essex Knights of Columbus 7461 and the Plattsburgh BPOE.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Curren) whom he married July 19, 1941; and one son, Allan Giancola, both of Willsboro. He is also survived by one brother, Edward Giancola of Yonkers; a nephew, David; and a niece, Barbara Giancola; nieces, Carolyn Walker and Jane Gay of Willsboro; nephew, Nick Sayward of Jamaica, N.Y.; niece Lynne Radley of Binghamton, N.Y.; nephew, Karl Zinchak of Missouri; and a special friend, Mary Bisaccia.

He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Dave.

Calling hours will be held at The Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro, N.Y., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Knights of Columbus Service will be held at 7:30. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Philip's Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lakeshore Road, Willsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his memory be made to the Willsboro Rescue Squad or Masses.

Dorothy F. D'Ambrosio

Altona, N.Y./Feeding Hills, Mass. — Dorothy F. (Guerin) D'Ambrosio, 77, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at her home in Massachesuettes

She was born in Irona on Jan. 30, 1926, the daughter of Victor and Delia (Bushey) Guerin.

Dorothy began working for the American Red Cross in wartime in school sewing projects in 1942. She moved to Springfield in 1944 and to Agawam in 1959. After moving to Springfield, she worked for the former Springfield Armory for a short time, then for the former Kessler's and Carter's Clothing while becoming a candy striper and nurse's aid at Springfield Mercy and Wesson Hospitals through the Red Cross. She worked at blood banks for many years and drove vans to take sick children to Boston hospitals. Dorothy was involved in disaster relief locally since the 1960's, driving the emergency response vehicle truck and working at the People's Center. She became a national disaster volunteer in the late 1970's working as a damage assessment worker, victim relief and transportation and food service worker for disaster relief after dozens of fires, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes across the country and the Caribbean. Her last service before becoming ill was at the World Trade Center, working as the French, Acadian and Creole translator for survivors and families of victims. She received an award this year for sixty years of service to the American Red Cross.

Dorothy's family is very proud of her for all her thoughtfulness, caring and great accomplishments she has given to all of us and thank her for being such a wonderful inspiration.

She leaves her husband of 50 years, Hubert J. "Hugo" D'Ambrosio; a son, Anthony of Feeding Hills; a brother, Ronald Guerin of Holyoke, Mass.; a sister, Gloria Nephew of Irona, N.Y.; and many other relatives and Godchildren; along with many good friends and co-workers around the world.

Calling hours are Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Agawam Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street, with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 12 noon. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
