Published: 09/06/03John C. Allen Plattsburgh — John C. Allen, 49, of Oliver Court, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at his home as the result of heart complications. He was born in Utah on Oct. 30, 1953, son of Howard H. and Nancy E. (Baldwin) Allen. John considered Greensboro, Vt., as his home outside of Plattsburgh. He was the owner of the Art and Hobby Store in Plattsburgh, the owner of AutoGraphics Co., co-owner of MediGraphics and a former member of the Plattsburgh Lions Club. John was a gifted artist and a devoted father and husband. John is survived by his wife of 13 years, Nancy (Papineau) Allen of Plattsburgh; a son, Paul W. Allen of Plattsburgh; his mother, Nancy Emily Allen of Geneva, N.Y.; a brother, Will Allen and his wife Nancy of Waterford, Mich.; a sister, Louise Winecup and her husband Michael of Staten Island; his mother-in-law, Joyce Papineau of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Anne Hawley and her husband Richard of Underhill, Vt.; a brother-in-law, Paul Papineau and his wife Barbara of Keene; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the John C. Allen Memorial Arts Scholarship. Lucille L. DuprasPlattsburgh — Lucille Lydia Lefevre Dupras, 95, of Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a long illness. Lucille was born Jan. 4, 1908, in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Edward Charles and Myra (Lavigne) Lefevre. She was a graduate of the Champlain Valley School of Nursing in 1931. During her lifetime, she was employed at Physician's Hospital, CVPH, Ayerst Laboratory and retired from Dannemora State Hospital in 1972. Lucille married John Henry Dupras Jr. on Feb. 19, 1933, at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. He predeceased her on July 9, 1962. The many joys of her life included spending time with her family, writing poetry, playing her piano and gardening. She is survived by six sons and one daughter, John and Marie of Mira Loma, Calif., David and Marietta of Saranac, William and Nancy of Palm Bay, Fla., Michael and Billine of Highland, Ill., Myra and Ron Brooks of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Philip and Kim of Beekmantown and Robert of Morrisonville. Lucille is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Bertha O'Keefe; a brother, Lawrence; and a grandson, Matthew. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. DesmaraisEllenburg Depot — Raymond J. Desmarais, 82, formerly of the Plank Road, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. He was born in Coopersville on Aug. 14, 1921, son of John and Grace (Taylor) Desmarais. Raymond was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked in the mines in Lyon Mountain and was also a construction worker and a dairy farmer for many years. He and his wife owned and operated Ray's Grocery Store in Ellenburg for 26 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ellenburg and a member of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Raymond was predeceased by his wife, Loretta (Miller) Desmarais, on May 22, 1996; an infant daughter, Joyce; two brothers, Sam Desmarais and Roy Demarais; and a foster daughter, Cheryl Miller. Raymond is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Richard Boulrice of Keeseville; one granddaughter, Jackie Germain and her husband Brent of Plattsburgh; a foster daughter, Cathy Miller and her son Kylyn of Saranac; a great - granddaughter, Meghan Germain; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at 11 a.m. from St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in St. Edmund's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Clinton County Nursing Home or to Hospice of the North Country. Joyce E. (Baker) MannKeeseville — Joyce E. (Baker) Mann, 68, of North AuSable Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Lyon Mountain on May 13, 1935, the daughter of Lawrence and Eleanor (Morrison) Baker. Joyce was a life member of the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1505 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Amy Mann of Glens Falls; three grandchildren, Brian, Stephen and Trevor; her mother, Eleanor Baker of Plattsburgh; seven sisters and four brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Rodney Tucker of Minerva, Thelma Bowen of Elizabethtown, Betty and Charles Rivers of Plattsburgh, Juanita and Don Soda of Plattsburgh, Ann LaBounty of Plattsburgh, Beverly Dickerson of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Gloria and Patrick Wade of Willsboro; one brother, Armand Baker of Mt. Airy, N.C.; a special friend, Larry Seney of Chazy Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father; and her husband, Elwood Mann, on Aug. 27, 1999. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville, with Msgr. Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh. Daniel Joseph Felici Sr., 76, of Lake Clear, did Sept. 5, 2003, at the Hudson Home for Volunteer Firefighters in Hudson, N.Y. He was born in Northvale, N.J., on Jan. 21, 1927, the son of Arnold and Marie (Bargare) Felici. Calling hours will be held at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc., in Saranac Lake, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A veteran’s service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation will follow with burial in the family plot in Sharkhill, N.Y. Juliette M. DesGroseilliers, 99, died Sept. 2, 2003, at Iroquois Nursing Home in Syracuse, N.Y. She was born on Aug. 18, 1904, in Montreal, Quebec. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, Sept. 4th, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse. Services were held at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Dewitt, N.Y. |
