Clarence P. Soper

Keeseville — Clarence P. "Bud" Soper, 78, of Route 9, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Keeseville, Aug. 20, 1924, the son of Maynard and Malana (Strong) Soper.

He was a civilian plumber on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base for 25 years and he and his wife owned and operated the Villa Motel in Keeseville for 44 years.

He was a member of the AuSable River Lodge 149 F&AM and was a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marion (Charland) Soper of Keeseville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Debbie Soper of Hooks, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Timosevich of Keeseville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Michael Soper, May 20, 1990, and Charles Soper, May 15, 1994.

Calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

Kermit E. Saxton

Brushton — Kermit E. Saxton, 80, of the Saxton Road, Brushton, passed away at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone.

He was born May 9, 1923, at the Saxton Homestead in Brushton, the son of the late Ray and Bertha Whitman Saxton.

He attended Brushton High School. He owned and operated a dairy farm at the Saxton Homestead in Brushton.

He enjoyed raising and training oxen and was a very knowledgeable Moira Town Historian. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Malone.

On Nov. 8, 1942, he was united in marriage to Thelma Reid. She survives.

Besides his wife of 60 years, also surviving are daughter, Jane S. Bellows of Brushton; a son and daughter-in-law, Reid and Sheryl Saxton of Brushton; and daughter and son-in-law, Agatha and Stuart Mace of Crown Point, N.Y.; one grandson, Jared Mace of Arlington, Va.; three granddaughters, Marie Bellows Denis and Brent Denis of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Kathy Bellows of Brushton and Janelle Saxton of Brushton; two sisters, Lora Marie Foster of Brushton and Grace Shafer of Rochester, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Peter Saxton; and one son-in-law, Donald Bellows.

Friends may call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Malone with the Rev. Kent Brooks and Nephew Rev. William Saxton, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Brushton, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the Moira Rescue Squad.

Arrangements are through the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
