Published: 08/17/03Esther C. SmithPlattsburgh — Mrs. Esther C. Smith, 68, of Dean Lane, Thunderbird Heights, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Peru, N.Y., on April 11, 1935, the daughter of John and Bernice (Carter) Thew. Esther enjoyed camping and cooking. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W. "Short Cut" Smith, on Jan. 10, 1986; her sister, Alice Thew and her brother, George Thew. She is survived by four sons, Stephen Smith and his wife Joanne of Plattsburgh, Henry Smith and his wife Hope of Fonda, N.Y., Michael Smith of Plattsburgh and Darrin Smith of Plattsburgh; four daughters, Belinda Smith and her companion Brent LaMotte of Plattsburgh, Tammy Lapham and her husband Danny of Plattsburgh, Beverly Smith and her companion Daniel Vincent of Plattsburgh and Pamela Whalen and her husband Timothy of Plattsburgh; her brothers, Richard Thew and his wife Christine of Plattsburgh, John Thew Jr. and his wife Margaret of Plattsburgh and David Thew of Plattsburgh; her sisters, Thelma Rivers and her husband Robert of Beekmantown, Joan Snide of Plattsburgh and Barbara Whittington and her husband Vernon of Schuyler Falls; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road. Friends wishing may make donations to Hospice of the North Country. William C. Bowman, 79, of Port Perry, Ontario, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003. He was born in Tupper Lake on June 2, 1924, the son of Herald and Florence (Bedore) Bowman. Calling hours will be held Monday, Aug. 18th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Name Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. Eleanor N. Bedwell, 85, formerly of Division Street, Keeseville, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. Deborah A. Imhoff, 49, of the Felton Road, Schuyler Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Helms — A service for James Helms of Bloomingdale will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Brookside Cemetery, Bloomingdale. The Rev. Andrea Sears, pastor of the Bloomingdale Methodist church, will officiate. The Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake is in charge of arrangements. Washburn — A service for Robert A. Washburn, who died Aug. 13, 2003, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19th, at 2 p.m. (originally scheduled for 4 p.m.) at the Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington. Arrangements by the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home in Malone. |
