Celia Elizabeth Dougan

Elizabethtown — Celia Elizabeth Dougan, 95, of Horace Nye Home, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003.

She was born Sept. 3, 1908, in Willsboro, N.Y., the daughter of Henry and Lucy (Cross) Wrisley.

She was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 677, Elizabethtown, a member of the United Church of Christ and an election inspector for the Board of Elections in Elizabethtown. She loved gardening, cooking and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Earle "Shim" and Sue Dougan of Lewis; one daughter, Diane Wallace of Elizabethtown; one brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Marie Wrisley of Reber; one sister and brother-in-law, Ester and Eric Smith of Schenectady; and a sister-in-law, Melba Wrisley of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 15th, at the United Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

Jacqueline Trombly

Mooers — Jacqueline "Jackie" Trombly, 72, of Mooers, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., on Nov. 9, 1930, the daughter of John and Madeline (Roberts) Owens.

She enjoyed horses and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald R. Trombly of Mooers; her children and their spouses, Sandra Romaine of Woodhaven, Mich., Randall and Ann Trombly of Mooers, Roxanne and Frank Dumas of Mooers, Luanne and Gary Dragoon of Mooers, Mark and Wanda Trombly of Mooers, Ronald and Barb Trombly of Mooers and Marlene and Mark Hildebrandt of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Darlene Owens of Devils Lake, Minn.; a sister, Norma Jean Vassar of Chazy; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents and a son-in-law, Larry Romaine, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Mooers.

Rosemarie Christian

Elizabethtown — Rosemarie Christian, 75, of Elizabethtown, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at her daughter’s home in Clintonville, N.Y., after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Remscheid, Germany, the daughter of Xavier and Rosa Klotz.

She settled in Elizabethtown in 1971 after her husband retired from the military.

Rose was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Elizabethtown. She loved playing bingo, crocheting and exhibiting at the Essex County Fair, but mostly spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Christian (formerly of Elizabethtown) of MLNH, Ticonderoga, N.Y.; and six children, Caroline Baker of Middleton, Mass., Christine Bashaw and her spouse Fred of Clintonville, N.Y., Catherine Slatter of Indianapolis, Ind., Carmen Cassavaugh of Lewis, N.Y., Cindy Stevens and her spouse Glenn of Westport, N.Y., and Curt Owings-Christian and his spouse Michelle of Parsippany, N.J.; one sister, Gertrude Heizman of Germany; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by two son-in-laws, Larry Baker and Earl Cassavaugh.

No calling hours will be held. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Lewis Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, Elizabethtown, NY 12932 or to the North Country Hospice, 475 East Main St., Malone, NY 12953.

Reginald L. Porter

Ellenburg — Reginald L. Porter, 61, formerly of Ellenburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

He was born in Ellenburg on Jan. 12, 1942, the son of Orville A. and Bessie (Collins) Porter.

He was employed at Bouyea-Fassetts Bakery in Plattsburgh for over 26 years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his pets "Tika and Cuddles."

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Michelle Porter of Cannons Corners; two daughters, Tammy and Shannon Porter, also of Cannons Corners; his companion, Dawn Peryer of Moira; a brother, Gary Porter of Cadyville; two grandchildren, Kayla and Garrett; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks.

Robert Anson Washburn

Fort Pierce, Fla. — Robert Anson Washburn, 67, of Fort Pierce, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, in Vero Beach, Fla.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1935, in Black Brook, N.Y., the son of Anson and Kathlyn Washburn of Wilmington, N.Y.

On June 7, 1958, he married Joyce Fleury of Constable, N.Y.

Mr. Washburn worked as a U.S. Customs Service Inspector for 28 years prior to retiring in January 1998. He worked in several cities including Champlain, N.Y., Toronto, Ontario, Miami, Fla., and Fort Pierce, Fla. He has lived in Fort Pierce, Fla., for the past 12 years.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman while growing up in Wilmington, N.Y., and graduated from Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute (ATI) in Canton, N.Y. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He spent his last years enjoying family and NASCAR events and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Mr. Washburn is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joyce Washburn of Fort Pierce, FIa.; four children, Robert Washburn II and wife Carol of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lynn Roy and husband Randy of Winthrop, N.Y., Darcy Roy and husband Neil of Sebastian, Fla., and Michael Washburn of Clermont, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tara and Ashley Washburn of Colorado Springs, Colo., Aimee and Elise Roy of Winthrop, N.Y., and Matthew Roy of Sebastian, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Washburn.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18th, at the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home in Malone, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19th, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Constable, N.Y. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19th, at the Haselton Cemetery in Wilmington, N.Y.

Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Thelma Stackhouse, 85, formerly of Moody Road, Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born in the Town of Altamont, Dec. 6, 1917, the daughter of Sanford and Florence (Kingsley) Dunham.

Calling hours will be at United Community Methodist Church in Tupper Lake from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Long Lake Cemetery.

Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home in Tupper Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth L. Forward, 83, of Rouses Point, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born Sept. 13,1919, in Montreal, Canada, the son of the late Hugh and Helena (Wheeler) Forward.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point.

Arrangements are with Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

Sharmaine C. Haas, 62, of Prospect Avenue, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
