Milton G. Denison Sr.

Peterboro, N.Y. — Mr. Milton G. Denison Sr., 99, of Peterboro, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at his home.

He was born Feb. 10, 1904, the son of the George M. and Julia (Bennett) Denison of Peterboro.

He was a lifelong resident of the Peterboro area. He was a retired dairy farmer and enjoyed watching things grow, especially the grass grow green each spring.

He was married to the former Dorothy Mae Sears of Syracuse on April 12, 1941. She predeceased him in 1983.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan Bennett and John Bruno of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Milton Jr. and Naomi Denison of Peterboro, N.Y.; two granddaughters and their spouses, Martha and Eric Westerdahl of Boston, Mass., and Mary and Jerry Rock of West Chazy, N.Y.; and two grandsons and their spouses, Edward Bennett and Anika Kitonya of Albany, N.Y., and Steven and Nancy Bennett of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Algia Berrier of Tampa, Fla.,.; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and sisters, Helen Northrup, Marguerite Happle and Arabella Taylor, predeceased him.

The funeral will be hold Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, Cedar Street, Morrisville, N.Y. Interment will be held in Peterboro Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gordon D. Devins

Peru — Gordon D. Devins, 89, of Route 22, Peru, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Peasleeville, Nov. 10, 1913, the son of Henry and Dora (Grant) Devins.

Mr. Devins served his country in World War II in the OSS in the Burma Theater.

Gordon was a recipient of the Army Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service to the country. Following the war, Gordon worked at Mason's Lumber in Peru and later worked at the Champlain Valley Apple Storage.

Gordon was an avid Red Sox fan, hunter and fisherman, as well as serving as youth baseball coach for several years. Upon retirement he spent several winters in Florida and enjoyed dancing and was Florida State Senior Games champion in bowling at age 82.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Olive (Wright) Devins; four sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Peggy Devins of Randolph, Maine, Robert and Cathy Devins of Malone, Barry Devins and Maribeth Mackinnon of Peru and Kevin and Kim Devins of Harkness; his grandchildren, Becky Dodge, Bethany Richmond, Kim Nelson, Andy Devins, Emily Devins, Kyle Devins and Korey Devins; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Sally White, pastor of the Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial and full military honors will follow in the Peasleeville Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army.

Richard A. White

Ticonderoga — Richard (Dick) A. White, 79, of Race Track Road, Ticonderoga, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.

He was born in Westport, March 13, 1924, the son of the late Charles A. and Alice A. (Stevenson) White.

Mr. White grew up on his family farm, the White Farm of Westport, N.Y.

He was a graduate of Westport Central School, class of 1941, where was co-salutatorian. He was also on the high school basketball team.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106 of Albany, N.Y., for over 50 years before his retirement in 1989. He and his brothers worked on most major interstate highway systems in New York, Vermont and Pennsylvania and the St. Lawrence Seaway Lock Construction Project. He was also instrumental in the construction of the missile silos in Plattsburgh.

Mr. White was a member of the Federated Methodist Church of Westport.

He enjoyed reading and especially enjoyed his family.

He was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters, Charles White, John White, William White, Lillian White Tetrault, Mary White Ahearn, Frances White Mitchell and Clara White Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine (Fuller) White. They were married on July 27, 1945. He is also survived by one daughter, Kathleen Liddell and her husband Joseph of Ticonderoga; two sons, Kraig R. White and his wife Sherry of Colchester, Vt., and Kevin R. White and his wife Mary of Port Arthur, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Kim and Mike Powers and daughters, Emily and Amanda of Ticonderoga, Patricia Armstrong and son, Brett of Colchester, Vt., Kerry and Mike Helms and children, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Jonathon and Emma of Syracuse, Krista Liddell and sons, Tyler and Tobey of Schodack, Marc White of Burlington, Vt., Heather White and children, Jillian and Deven of Burlington, Vt., Lisa and Rick Harrison and children, Carter and Delaney of Essex Junction, Vt., Lauren White, Amy White, Dustin White, Matthew White and Meagan White, all of Port Arthur, Texas. He is also survived by several other relatives including many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Stevenson Cemetery of Westport.

Jeanne Marie MacCrea

Port Jefferson — Jeanne Marie MacCrea was born in Plattsburgh and attended D’Youville Academy. She received a diploma in nursing in Watertown, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from St. John's University in Queens and a Master's Degree in nursing from New York University. She also did post master's work at New York University.

Jeanne, along with her friend Agnes Coote, started the Queens General School of Nursing in Jamaica, Queens. She then became a nursing specialist in the Central Office of the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation where she was a contributor in the design of one of the first staffing methodologies for nursing and where she developed one of the first TV instruction programs for nursing. After serving as a nurse surveyor for the joint commission on accreditation of health care organizations, she retired to Port Jefferson, where she worked as a real estate agent for Merill Lynch, Prudential and National Homefinders.

She is survived by an uncle, John C. Soper; cousins, Clarene Soper Jr., and Richard Soper of Plattsburgh, Betty Quinley of Norco, Calif., Nancy Faulkner of Lena, Miss.; long time friend, Catherine Warner of Thompson, N.Y.; and her friend and housemate in Port Jefferson, Janet McBride.

Viewing will be at Brown's Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at 9 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Seton Center at National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 333 South Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD 21727-9298.

Jean O. Smyth, of Princeton, N.J., 89, died last Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at her summer home in Corlear Bay Club, Keeseville.

She was born in Evanston, Ill., daughter of the late Dr. Charles G. Osgood and the late Isabella Owen Osgood.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's in Keeseville.

Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville was in charge of the arrangements.

Reginald L. Porter, 61, formerly of Ellenburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Arrangements were incomplete Wednesday evening at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.

Alfred Mills "Fritz" Decker, MD, 84, of Corey Road, Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Clarkson, N.Y., on Sept. 29, 1918, the son of Alfred and Helen (Crippen) Decker.

Visitation will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Church of St. Luke the Beloved Physician with Father Fredrick Dennis, officiating. Burial will follow at Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake. Following the interment friends may stop by the family home at 24 Coreys Road, Tupper Lake.

Helen M. (Moses) Haughey of Franklin, Mass., died Friday, March 7, 2003.

She was born in Ticonderoga, the daughter of the late Luther and Marion (Card) Moses.

A graveside service will take place Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Marjorie Floor will officiate.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Jacqueline Trombly, 72, of Mooers, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at her residence.

Arrangements were incomplete Wednesday evening at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers.
