Lisa A. Kyea

Ohio/AuSable Forks —Lisa A. Kyea, 34, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, with family and friends at her bedside.

Lisa was born Nov. 5, 1968, the daughter of Roger and Donna (Rushia) Kyea.

She was office secretary at Imperial Paper Co. and Prim Hall Co., both of Plattsburgh. She was also a singer and performer as Raggedy Sandy and Red Riding Hood for Santa’s Workshop, North Pole, Wilmington. She also was cashier at Rod’s Deli., AuSable Forks. Lisa was presently employed as finishing planner for the Avery - Dennison Co. of Fairport Harbor, Ohio. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus of Plattsburgh and the Greater Cleveland Chorus of Sweet Adelines of Ohio.

She is survived by her mother of AuSable Forks; a daughter, Caitlin Roy and a son, Nathan Roy, both of Peru; the father of her children, Greg and his wife Cathy Roy of Peru; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy and Tracey Kyea of AuSable Forks and Daniel and Nicole Kyea of Painesville, Ohio; and her companion, Richard Haviland of Fairport, Ohio; several aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends from New York and Ohio.

She was predeceased by her uncle, Danny Rushia; her maternal grandparents, Ector and Eleanor Rushia; her paternal grandparents, Marie and Jerry Kyea; and her father, Roger Kyea, who died March 30, 2002.

The family requests memorials to Lisa be made to the Caitlin and Nathan Roy Memorial Fund, her daughter and son, c/o Donna Kyea, P.O. Box 318, AuSable Forks, NY 12912.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name Church, AuSable Forks, at a date and time to be announced in the Press-Republican.

Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sgt. Justin W. Garvey

U.S. Army

Fair Haven, Vt. — Sgt. Justin Wrisley Garvey, 23, a member of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army, died in combat July 20, 2003, while serving his country near Tal Afar, Iraq.

Sgt. Garvey was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on Feb. 29, 1980. He was the son of Gregg W. Garvey and Angie (Perkett) Walsh. He lived in Florida until 1991, when he moved with his family to Proctor. Justin had a strong love for soccer and served his team as captain at Proctor High School, graduating in 1998. He joined the National Guard while still a junior in high school and chose, to honor his late stepfather Ron Walsh (who tragically died in an automobile accident in 1994) by joining the U.S. Army, following his high school graduation. He completed his basic training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and then returned to Townsend, Mass., where he worked for Lorden Oil.

In 1999, Justin decided to return to the Army full time, where he served two tours of duty, one in Afghanistan and then was sent to Iraq. While in the Army, Justin earned many honors and was highly recognized by his superiors; those included four Army Achievement medals, the Expert Infantryman's Badge, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the National Defense Service Ribbon. He attended the Mortars Logistics Office School where he earned Distinguished Honor Grad, Primary Leadership Development Course and Air Assault School. Justin will also be honored with the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He loved his family above all else and married his high school sweetheart, Kate Garner, on June 1, 2002. Justin loved riding his dirt bike, hunting, snowmobiling and just loved to be in the mud on his four-wheeler.

Justin is survived by his wife, Kate Garvey of Oak Grove, Ky.; his mother, Angie Walsh of Townsend, Mass.; his father, Gregg Garvey of Florida; sister Kristin Garvey and brother Adam Walsh, both of Townsend, Mass.; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Perkett and paternal grandmother Lucille Garvey, both of Willsboro, N.Y.; and his paternal great - grandparents, Alton and Marie Wrisley of Reber, N.Y. On his wife’s side, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Susan Facci and stepfather-in-law David Boelke of Proctor, Vt.; his father-in-law, Dean Garner and his wife Joan of Jackson, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Kristin Garner and Ellena Boelke; his wife's grandparents, Christine and Roger Rhodes of Luray, Tenn.; grandfather Louis Fucci of Scotts Hill, Tenn.; as well as many other extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Howard Perkett and paternal grandfather, Carl Garvey; and his wife's grandmother, Marilyn Fucci.

Friends may call at The Mallory Funeral Home, 4 South Park Place, Fair Haven, on Sunday, July 27, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven. Colonel Albert Baltz, chaplain Vermont Air Guard and Army National Guard, will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial with full military honors will follow in the family lot at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven. Following the committal service, the family will receive close family and friends at Fair Haven American Legion Post 49, for a time of fellowship and reflection.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the Justin Garvey Memorial Fund, for an educational scholarship fund for the benefit of his brother Adam, c/o Workers Credit Union, P.O. Box 900, Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Robert Breyette Sr.

Mooers Forks — Robert "Cob" Breyette Sr., 59, died Friday, July 19, 2003, at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 26, 1943, the son of Ralph C. and Laura (Chartrand) Breyette.

Mr. Breyette owned and operated Breyette's Trucking for 30 years from 1973 until 2003.

He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Kimberly Breyette of Mooers, Robert Jr. and Cindy Breyette of Amenia, N.Y., Joseph and Shawn Breyette of Roy, Wash., Jesse and Jen Breyette of Beekmantown and Paul and Mary Breyette of Plattsburgh; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry and Albert Lagoy of Ellenburg and April Agnew of Vermont; four brothers, Richard Breyette of Amenia, Charles Breyette Sr. of Rouses Point, Steven Breyette of Amenia and Eugene Chiappa of Poughkeepsie; a sister, Judy Rabideau of Altona; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; a brother, Ronald Breyette and a sister, Gloria Boulerice, died before him.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Twin Bridges Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418 on Route 11 in Champlain.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers is in charge of arrangements.

Mariardith Witworka

Worcester, N.Y. — Mariardith Witworka, 74, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2003.

Mariardith was born on July 11, 1929, in Rahway, N.J., and married her beloved husband John on May 6, 1950, in St. Casmir's Church in Brooklyn. They set up their first home in Brooklyn and then moved to Plainview, L.I., where they started their family. In 1969, they made together what they viewed as one of their very best decisions to move to the wonderful community of Worcester, N.Y., where the bonds of friendship were made for life.

Maridardith was a young office assistant in New York City, a 29-year leader of the Girl Scouts as well as a lifelong Girl Scout enthusiast, a Worcester Central School aide who ministered to thousands of children, a wonderful mother and wife and the intimate friend of many. She was a wonderful square dance partner, polka partner and partner in life.

Many have been the great beneficiaries of Mariardith's legion correspondence and card greeting enthusiasm. Not a birthday, anniversary, holiday or special event went unnoticed by the warm and caring Mariardith. A deeply religious and committed woman, a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and a reader at church until her illness proved to interfere too much, Mariardith was a truly blessed person.

Mariardith's family and her extended family of friends, were a source of strength and grounding in her life that was dedicated to making others feel welcome and loved. She is survived by her children, Robert and his wife Janet of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Ardith and her partner Carol of Boston, Mass.; her brother Ellsworth Mosso and his wife Audrey of New Milford, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John, to whom she was eternally devoted.

Calling hours will be held at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester, on Saturday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. and a Vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Edward Golding at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception to celebrate the life of Mariardith. The reception will be held immediately after the funeral on Monday at the home of Larry and Toni Bobnick on West Hill Road, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Worcester Free Public Library, P.O. Box 461, Worcester, NY or St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 156, Worcester, NY 12197.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St., Worcester.

Blaise A. Rasco, 65, of Silver Lake Road, Saranac, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Saranac on Dec. 28, 1937, the son of Frederick and Yvonne (Sidney) Rasco.

Arrangements are incomplete at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Memorial Services

Hall — A Memorial Service for Christopher Southard Hall, who died Dec. 19. 2002, will be held Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at 4 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Essex, N.Y. Mr. Hall is the son of Bruce and Darcy Hale of Willsboro, N.Y.
