Published: 07/02/03Jean Marie PhillipsJAY — Jean Marie Phillips, 60, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Queens on July 6, 1942, the daughter of James and Anne Phillips. While living at her residence in Jay, Jean Marie developed many close relationships and led an active life participating in activities at Gerald Edwards Training Center several days a week, competing in the Special Olympics annually, volunteering her time with children at the Holy Name School and at several other events held by the Essex County ARC. Jean Marie leaves behind a sister, Dorothy Mobilia; a brother, James Phillips; a dear friend named Lillian Duprey; several other close friends; and adoptive grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Thursday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Name Catholic Church, AuSable Forks. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the AuSable Forks Volunteer Ambulance Service. Charlotte Irene SpoonerWESTPORT — Charlotte Irene (Phillips) Spooner ,72, of Fitzgerald Road, Westport, N.Y., died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y. She was born on Jan. 1, 1931, in Elizabethtown, N.Y., the daughter of Gerald E. and Hazel (Smith) Phillips. She was a graduate of Westport Central School and held an Associates Business Degree. She owned and operated Ideal Garage, Westport, N.Y., and was Program Assistant for Westport ASCS (FSA). Survivors include daughters, Peg Wisell and husband Jack, Moriah, N.Y., Belinda Heald and husband Tom, Moriah Center, N.Y.; sons, Shaun of North Richland Hills, Texas; Gerald of Essex, N.Y., Paul of Westport, N.Y., Scott of Westport, N.Y.; eight grandsons; one special grand-daughter; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Bruce S. Phillips; and one brother-in-law, Howard Spooner; her companions, Barbara Gough and Greta Longware; the Village of Westport; and the whole damn town. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank W. Spooner Jr.; her children, Bethiak Spooner, William W. Spooner and Lee J. Spooner; and her sister, Geralding Phillips. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Phillip Neri Church, Westport, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Phillip Neri Cemetery, Westport. Memorial donations may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center, CVPH Medial Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y., or to the Westport Fire Department. Fern G. NewtonTroy — Fern G. Newton, 70, of Madison Street, died at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2003. Fern was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. She had worked as a bus driver for Laidlaw Transportation in Schenectady, N.Y. Fern is survived by her husband, John Newton of Troy; and her children, Randy Baggs and Raymond Baggs of Troy, James Baggs of Glenville, Ransley Garrow of Vermontville, Dorsey Garrow of Troy, Delbert Garrow of Averill Park, Rhonda Swinyer of Vermontville and Tina Sutton of Schenectady; several grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Internment will take place in the family plot in Memory's Garden, Colonie, N.Y. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, NY. Aileen G. Newell, 90, of Creek Road, Crown Point, N.Y., died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Hallmark Nursing Home in Glens Falls, N.Y. Calling hours will be held Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. Further arrangements are incomplete at this time. Henry J. Cummings Jr., 36, of State Route 37, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He was born in Massena, N.Y., June 16, 1967, the son of Henry and Georgina (Berkman) Cummings Sr. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. |
