Marjorie E. Barcomb

Dannemora — Marjorie E. Barcomb, 80, of Route 374, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Chateaugay on Jan. 24, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph Nelson and Elmira (Tourville) Patnode.

Marjorie was a graduate of Chateaugay High School in 1942. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 1623 in Lyon Mountain and was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Marjorie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. She was devoted to her cocker spaniel, Teddy.

Marjorie is survived by one daughter, Jean D. Barcomb of Dannemora; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Patnode of Malone; six nephews, Ronald, Richard, Gary, John, Robert and Donald Patnode; and three nieces, Joan, Lorraine and Myrna.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Barcomb, in 1999; four brothers, Roy, Earl, Floyd and Gerald Patnode; and a sister, Evelyn Santimore.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 1, 2003, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Park Row in Cadyville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery in Churubusco.

Lila J. Smith

Westport — Lila J. Smith, 70, of Front Street, Westport, died suddenly Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

She was born in Mineville on Oct. 21, 1932, the daughter of Freeman and Grace (Phelps) Jenks.

Mrs. Smith worked for the Essex County Champlain National Bank and as a real estate agent for Century 21. She retired from Essex County Social Services following 35 years of service.

Survivors include three children and spouses, Michael and Diane Smith of Watervliet, Carol Smith and Neil Dupee of Westport and Dan Smith and Darlena Kelley of Troy; one cherished grandson, Steven Smith of Westport; and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bernie Austin of Port Henry.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Douglas Smith.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Msgr. Peter Riani, pastor of St. Elizabeth's Church in Elizabethtown and St. Philip Neri Church in Westport, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Montcalm Manor in Ticonderoga.

Teresa M. King

Plattsburgh — Teresa M. King, 74, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 10, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ayers.

She attended business school in Plattsburgh and was a bookkeeper for many years at Plattsburgh Electric Supply and later for Howard Johnson’s.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol King of Plattsburgh; a sister, Stella Golden of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, Jericho and Gabrielle King of Plattsburgh; three stepgrandchildren, Trevor, Aaron and Bethany White; several nieces and nephews, including Sue and Chuck McCormick of West Chester, Pa.; and two great-nephews, Michael and C.J. McCormick of New Jersey.

Her husband, Harold W. King, died on Sept. 28, 1986.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Adirondack Humane Society.

Roger Tobin 1926-2003

Hemmingford St-Lambert, Quebec— Roger Tobin of Hemmingford and St-Lambert, Quebec, passed away peacefully with his wife, Elfi Bollow, at his side on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal. 

Roger was born in Hemmingford on July 2, 1926, where he lived his entire life until his marriage to Elfi Bollow of St-Lambert in 1982.  He was retired from a career as a Canadian Customs officer and was active in the car business for over 50 years until his recent hospitalization.

He is survived by his children, Michael of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Mary of Cooperstown, N.Y., and Patrick of Hemmingford, Quebec; his grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Laura and Brendan Tobin of Plattsburgh; and his brother Dennis of Ayer's Cliff, Quebec.   He also leaves many close relatives and good friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Tobin and Laura (Dowd) Tobin of Hemmingford, Quebec; and his sister, Mildred Beaudin of North Hatley, Quebec.

His wake will be held at the home of his son, Patrick and Tamara Stevenson at 267 Covey Hill Road in Hemmingford, Quebec, where the family will be receiving friends and relatives on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening, June 28 and 29.  The family will also greet neighbors and friends at St. Romain's Catholic Church in Hemmingford at noon on Monday, June 30, 2003, where a funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m.

The family thanks Dr. Carl Emond and the staff of St. Mary's Hospital, as well as Dr. Barry Slappcoff, for their caring services. 

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation in Roger's memory would be appreciated by the family.

Gerald D. "Buck" Johnson

Mooers — Buck Johnson, 61, of the Simmons Road, died unexpectedly at his home on June 25, 2003.

He was born in Plattsburgh on July 13, 1941, the son of the late Herbert W. and Alyce (Brouillette) Johnson of Champlain, N.Y.

Buck was employed by Delagar Products of Rouses Point for 31 years, working in various departments, the last being stacker operator in the shipping department.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa A. (Rabideau); one daughter, Laurie A. Johnson of Mooers; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Elizabeth) Johnson of Plattsburgh, Jonathan D. and Casey C. Johnson of Mooers; four grandchildren; five brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert (Doris) Johnson of Round Lake, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. Bernard (Barbara) Johnson of Hartley, Del., Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Rita) Johnson of Morrisonville, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. John (Jean) Johnson of Plattsburgh and William Johnson of Champlain, N.Y.; and one sister-in-law, Cora Johnson of Altona, N.Y.

Buck was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence T. Johnson and his sister, Bernice Jaramillo.

There were no public calling hours or funeral service and cremation was in Burlington, Vt., per his wishes.

Christine Gale Snide, 67, of Lake Street, Long Lake, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2003.

She was born in Long Lake on June 25, 1936, the daughter of George Smith and Margaret S. (Plumley) Milliman.

Friends may call at the St. Henry’s Parish Center on Tuesday, July 1st, from 9 to 11 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church. A reception will follow at the Parish Center. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, at 11 a.m.
