Gerald F. Dupree Jr.

CHATEAUGAY — Gerald F. "Jerry" Dupree Jr., 48, of State Route 11, Chateaugay, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Malone, N.Y., on July 6, 1954, the son of Gerald and Grace (LaFave) Dupree.

He was married to Kyna Cowan on Sept. 21, 1996, in the Chateaugay United Methodist Church by Rev. Martin Ayer.

Jerry is survived by his wife of six years; his parents of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Kevin and Donna Dupree of Milford, Pa., David and Mary Dupree of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Dale Dupree of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Karen and Greg Harkenrider of Duanesburg, N.Y., Mary Dupree of Plattsburgh and Rose Dupree and her fiancé, Arsene Letourneau of Plattsburgh; two nephews, Zachary and Daniel Harkenrider; a niece, Jacqueline Dupree; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Myrna and Erwin Cowan of Chateaugay, N.Y.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Christine and Jim Mueller of Chateaugay, N.Y., Connie Cowan and her fiancé, Leonard King of Lake Clear, N.Y., Cheri and Tom Welch of Constable, N.Y., Brenda and Jay Rivers of Glens Falls, N.Y., Donna and Dennis Perry of Albuquerque, N.M., Fay Mathous and her fiancé Keith Palmer of Burke, N.Y.; children, Linda and Shannon Cook, Jamie Cushman and Danica Trimble, David and Misty Jewtraw; grandchildren, Leah, Brandy, Alexis and Cloe; many nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Kevin and James Cowan.

Jerry graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School in 1972. He then attended and graduated from North Country Community College, Saranac Lake. He has been employed by New York State Department of Corrections for 23 years, currently serving at Franklin Correctional Facility, Malone.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003, in the Chateaugay United Methodist Church with Rev. Eleanor Bellows officiating, assisted by Pastor Jerry LaBrake of City on the Hill Christian Fellowship. Burial will take place at Earlville Cemetery, Earlville. A reception following committal prayers at the cemetery will take place at the Chateaugay American Legion.

Gerald F. Branch

SARANAC LAKE — Gerald F. Branch, 73, of Forest Home Road, Saranac Lake, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on April 18, 1930, the son of Harland and Sarah (Raymond) Branch.

Mr. Branch was a life long resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed as a school teacher at the Lake Placid Central School for 19 years until his retirement in 1986. Prior to that he had worked for Paul Smith’s Power and Light Co. In addition, Gerald and life long friend, Dale Huyck ran a successful boat storage business for many years.

He attended and graduated from Saranac Lake Central School District and later attended and graduated from the School of Agriculture at Cornell University in 1957. In 1967 he earned a Bachelors Degree in Science and also attained his teaching certification from Plattsburgh State University.

Mr. Branch is a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a past member of the Saranac Lake Elks Club and is a member of the Lake Placid American Legion Post 326. Mr. Branch is also a past member of the Board of Directors for the American Legion Post 326. Mr. Branch and his father were one of the original developers of the Mt. Pisgah ski center.

He is survived by his former wife, JoAnn Branch of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; three sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and his wife Jody Branch of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Gerald (Gary) and his wife Sharon Branch of North Kingston, R.I., and Jeffery and his wife Jemell Branch of Saranac Lake, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Nathan and Stephine of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Emily of North Kingston, R.I., and Adam and Logan of Saranac Lake. He is also survived by one nephew, William Branch of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harland Branch; his mother, Sarah Raymond; and his brother, Fred Branch.

Calling hours will be held at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, June 6, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. An American Legion Service will take place Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service is tentatively set to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. Interment will be in Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Friends wishing to remember Gerald F. Branch may make memorial contributions to Lake Placid American Legion Post 326 in care of the funeral home.

Joyce Ellen Moss

WESTPORT — Joyce Ellen Moss, 70, of Westport, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the CVPH Hospital in Plattsburgh, after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of Percy and Ortha (Strong) Tryon.

Joyce was a member of the Westport Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the Westport Fireman’s Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 324.

She loved her family, knitting and traveling.

She is survived by her mother; her husband, Dale Moss of Westport; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Danny Warner of Omaha, Neb.; a son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Kimberly Moss, of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Percy Tryon of Westport and Reginald Tryon of Salina, Kan.; a sister, Rita Paquette, of Westport; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Marvin’s Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2003. A fireman’s service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home Friday evening at 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lewis Cemetery, Lewis, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to the Westport Fireman’s Auxiliary, the Westport Fire Department and Rescue Squad, or the American Legion Auxillary Post 324.

Thomas Daniel Wood Jr.

SARANAC/FISHKILL — Thomas Daniel Wood Jr., 24, formerly of 71 Wilson Road, Saranac and 72 Old Glenham Road, Glenham, N.Y., died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, as a result of a motorcycle accident in Newburgh, N.Y.

He was born in Plattsburgh, on Dec. 9, 1978, the son of Thomas and Julie (McKenzie) Wood.

Tom was a loving son and a great brother. He was soft spoken and small but was a big person at heart. He was loved by many friends and made friends easily.

He graduated from Saranac Central High School in 1997 and later from Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, December 1999 with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Tom loved playing baseball, soccer, basketball, bowling and he loved to ski.

He was a Corrections Officer who worked at Fishkill Correctional Facility in Fishkill, N.Y., for three years. He was also a Cert Team member at Fishkill Correctional Facility.

Survivors include his parents of Saranac; two younger brothers, Justin C. Wood and Joshua R. Wood both of Plattsburgh; his grandmother, Geneva E. (Dubray) McKenzie of Babson Park, Fla.; three uncles and their wives, Leonard and Marie McKenzie, Steve and Judy Racette and Kevin and Amy McKenzie; two aunts, Mrs. Michael (Lisa) Racette and Helen Wood; his best friend since they were babies, Ambrose Waldron; his girlfriend, Kimberly Cooper of Fishkill; and several cousins; great uncles and great aunts.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold Wood and Gertrude (Seymour) Wood; his grandfather, Leonard R. McKenzie Sr.; and two uncles, Joseph Wood and Walter McKenzie.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James Minor Church in Cadyville followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Edgar Arthur Guay Jr.

PLATTSBURGH — Edgar Arthur Guay Jr., 78, formerly of Arnold Road, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 28, 1924, son of Edgar Arthur and Electa (Bourgerie) Guay Sr.

Edgar was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Edgar was a member of St. Augustine’s Church in Peru.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Doris M. (Provost) Guay of Route 22, Plattsburgh; five children, Barbara and David Gordon of Plattsburgh, Marilyn and James Colonna of Amenia, N.Y., Janet Guay of Keeseville, Nancy and Robert Dashnaw of Morrisonville and Russell and SueEllen Guay of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Gloria St. Denis of Plattsburgh, Arlene Bombardier of Bradenton, Fla., and Donna Jennette of Plattsburgh; ten grandchildren; four great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Edgar was predeceased by his son, Robert D. Guay in 1979; and his parents.

There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home.

Jeanne L. Kraft, 80, a resident of the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, N.Y., since Nov. 8 1999, and formerly of Constable Street, Malone, died, Monday, June 2, 2003, at the nursing home.

She was born in Malone, on June 9, 1922, the daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle (Orton) LaFave.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, Malone. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Caroline L. Randall, 92, of Kensington Road, in Ardsley, N.Y., died Saturday, May 28, 2003, in Ardsley.

She was born in Chazy, N.Y., on March 18, 1911, the daughter of Forest Locklin and Ada (Mason) Locklin.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 5, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Whispering Maples Mausoleum on the Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

John Tamer Ellis, 86, of Lindsay Avenue, Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

He was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Harrisville, N.Y., the son of Tamer and Mary (Salamy) Ellis.

Friends may call at the Richer Funeral Home on Thursday, June 5, 2003, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10-noon. A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church with Father Donald Kramberg officiating, assisted by Deacon Jim Ellis.

Mary H. Flynn, 80, a resident of Bennington, Vt., died Tuesday, June 3, 2003.

She was born in Champlain, N.Y. , Sept. 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Jane (LaVenture) Sanchagrin.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Thursday, June 5, 2003, at 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Bennington.

E.P. Mahar and Sons Inc. Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Stanley Lewis Amell, 77, of Little Wolf Road, Tupper Lake, died at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in the care of his family and High Peaks Hospice.

He was born in Tupper Lake, May 24, 1926, the son of Leslie P. and Florence Elizabeth Castel Amell.

Calling hours will be held Thursday morning beginning at 11 a.m. at the Richer Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will follow calling hours at Holy name Church at 1 p.m. military honors will follow Mass at the church. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
