Ines Wheeler LaGoy

RED BANK, N.J. — Ines Wheeler LaGoy, 82, of Colonie, died Saturday May 31 at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, N.J. She was born in Plattsburgh, the daughter of the late Leon and Grace Conway Wheeler. She had resided in the Plattsburgh area for many years, in Albany since 1968, and most recently in Tinton Falls, N.J. Mrs. LaGoy worked in various secretarial positions at Peru Central High School, State University at Plattsburgh and in the Library at SUNY Albany. Mrs. LaGoy was an active member of the General Peter Gansevoort Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, most recently serving as corresponding secretary. She was a communicant of St. Clare’s Church. Ines will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother who took great pride in her home and family.

She was predeceased in 2002 by her husband of 63 years, Francis A. LaGoy. She is the beloved mother of Jared LaGoy and his wife, Bernadette, of Niskayuna, Janice Campbell and her husband, Richard, of Lincroft N.J., Mary Ellen Rielly and her husband, Michael, of Medford, N.J., and Stephen LaGoy and his wife, Bonnie, of Baldwinsville. She is the sister of Alda Brunelle, Geraldine Gagnier both of Plattsburgh and Leon Wheeler and his wife, Kate, of Lakeland, Fl.

Cherished Grandmother of Christopher and Michael LaGoy, Jean Marie Mirchandani, Ann Polhemus, Laura and Scott Campbell, Allison Wrede, Michael, Thomas, Elizabeth and Andrew Rielly and Blake, Bambi and Brittnie LaGoy. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare in Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) Internment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3 Winners Circle, Albany, NY, 12205, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Vera M. Willette

PLATTSBURGH — Vera M. Willette, 93, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home.

She was born in Cadyville on March 1, 1910, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (LaPlante) Jock.

She was a waitress for many years at the Witherill and Cumberland Hotels in Plattsburgh and Bluff Point Country Club. She was also employed as an attendant at Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale for over 25 years.

She is survived by her son, Harold J. Willette, of Schenectady; three grandchildren, Harold Willette, Lisa Stuart and Tara Willette; three great-grandchildren, Elaine, Jessie and Jenna; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Jerome Willette, died in 1984. Five brothers, Floyd, Leonard, Frank, George and Gilbert Jock; a sister, Ida Gates, and a grandson, Stephen Willette, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held today from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Internment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to the Association of the Blind of New York.

ALFRED A. LaVALLEY, 76, of Mooers Forks, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Arrangements were incomplete Sunday evening at the E. F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers.

Funerals

KEYES — A funeral service for Orville F. "Jack" Keyes, 93, of Fred Thew Road, Harkness, who died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, was held Sunday at the Harkness United Methodist Church with Rev. Sally White, pastor, officiating.

The organist was Doris B.K. Morrow. Vocalists were James "Eddie" Felio, Joan Lange, Roxy Rock, Elaine Stoll and Mallory Valk. A poem was read by Tom LaFountain and Tammy Sheffer. Bearers were Rick Baker, William Brown, Edward Gordon, Orville Keyes, Tom LaFountain and John Souliere. Burial followed in the Harkness Cemetery where Rev. Sally recited committal prayers. Arrangements were by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
