Isola Normandin

Plattsburgh — Isola Normandin, 90, died May 26, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Isola was a lifelong resident of Plattsburgh. She was born in Redford on July 22, 1912, the daughter of the late Felix and Permelia Caron.

She was employed for many years at the Union Hotel and Mickey's Restaurant.

She spent her leisure hours with her family and friends.

She was a member of St Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, N.Y.

She is survived by her sisters, Velida Mertins of Cadyville, N.Y., and Ramona Desso of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; four sons, Charles Normandin and his wife Barbara of Morrisonville, N.Y., James Normandin and his wife Lisa of Saranac, N.Y., Philip Normandin and his wife Marga of Gansevoort, N.Y., and Claude Normandin and his companion Sandy Belair of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; seven daughters, Theresa Trombley and her companion Clayton Adams of Middleburg, N.Y., Ethel Barkley and her husband Richard of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Edith Rachlis and her husband Warren "Bud" of Tallahassee, Fla., Bernadette Alexander and her husband Peter of Cheyenne, Wyo., Barbara Normand of Norwich, Conn., Alice Senecal and her husband Roger of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Wendy Provost and her husband Gary of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; 41 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 13 great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, James Normandin, in January 1950, and her second husband, Floyd McSweeney, in June 1964; her sisters, Electra Caron, Irene Chappel and Barnadette Caron; brothers Raymond Caron, Norman Caron and Edmund Caron; and one grandson, Jeffrey Barkley.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 29th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. from St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Dr. Martin F. Hasting

Plattsburgh — Dr. Martin F. Hasting, 89, of 51 Bay Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and grandchildren on Monday, May 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 12, 1913, son of Martin and Caroline M. (Sendelbach) Hasting.

Martin was a graduate of St. Regis High School in Denver, Colo.; upon graduation, he joined the Jesuits in St. Louis, Mo., and became a Roman Catholic priest, resigning from the priesthood in 1969. He received his masters degrees in theology and history, his bachelors degree in liberal arts and science and his doctorate in history at the University of California at Berkley. Upon graduation, he started the American Studies Program at St. Louis University. He moved to Plattsburgh State University in 1969, where he started the American-Canadian Studies Program. He retired from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1983 but remained active tutoring students.

Martin was a former member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge; he enjoyed reading, football and spending time with his grandchildren. Martin was a loving father and husband. He will be remembered as a very caring and gracious man.

Martin met and married his wife, Ann Celeste McDonald, in 1969. She predeceased him in December of 1997. He was also predeceased by three siblings.

Martin is survived by two children, Tammy Ann and Jeffrey Smith of Plattsburgh and Daryl Marty and Heidi Hasting of New Brunswick, N.J.; one sister, Margaret Shielly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Caitlyn, Jeffrey and Corrinne Smith and Daryl and Chandler Hasting; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 29, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, May 30, 2003, at 1 p.m. from St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Cumberland Head. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Maureen B. Breen

Dannemora — Maureen B. Breen, 59, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at her home in Dannemora.

She was born in New York City on Sept. 4, 1943, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Dunn) Breen.

Maureen raised two daughters as a single parent and enjoyed times spent with them and her grandchildren. She liked to crochet and refurbish her home.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Michael Layhee of Cadyville and Mary and Peter Smith of Wading River, N.Y.; a brother, John Breen of North Flushing, N.Y.; three sisters, Helen Linser of Elmont, N.Y., and Eileen Breen and Aurelie Breen, both of Dannemora; and four grandchildren, Brandon, Brooke, Corey and Olivia.

Two brothers, James and Joseph Breen, died before her.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 29th, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the O'Neill - Redden - Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 5:30 p.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Louis S. Boule Jr.

Plattsburgh — Louis S. Boule Jr., 35, of 7130 Route 9, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at his mother’s home in West Chazy.

He was born in San Diego, Calif., on Feb. 2, 1968, the son of Louis and Evelyn (Dubuque) Boule.

Louis has worked as a cook for Sodexho Corp., formerly Marriott, at SUNY Plattsburgh dinning halls for the past 10 years.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 2390 and he loved to play baseball. Louis also was a volunteer at VFW Post 1466.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Boule of West Chazy; three brothers, Robert Kennedy and his wife Melanie of Loon Lake and Treadwells Mills and David Dixon and Thomas Boule, both of West Chazy; one sister, Melanie Ann Boule of West Chazy; three nephews, Robert R. Kennedy Jr., Derrick Kennedy and Tyler Boule; one great-nephew, Benjamin Kennedy; and several cousins.

His father, Louis Sr., died in 1994.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2003, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department.

Lawrence D. Deuyour, 70, of RFD #3, Malone, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center.

He was born in Malone on July 30, 1932, the son of Henry and Blanche (Bashaw) Deuyour.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 27th at 9 a.m. in St. John Bosco Church with Rev. Thomas Moody officiating. Burial took place in Notre Dame Cemetery with full military honors.

Arrangements were with the St. Mary-Murphy Funeral Home.
