Mildred N. Egglefield

WESTPORT — Mildred N. Egglefield, 93, died Tuesday, May, 13, 2003, at the Horace Nye Home in Elizabethtown.

She was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Kirby, Vt., the daughter of Herbert and Marjorie (Slayton) Nickerson.

She moved from Burlington, Vt., to Westport in October 1944, when her husband, Clarence Chandler who was employed by the Socony Mobile Oil Corp., in Burlington, was transferred to become manager of the Westport plant. They both became active in political and community activities of the village as well as becoming active members of the Westport Federated Church. Mildred was a member of the Bessboro Chapter 651 and served as matron in 1947. She was a charter member of the Lasher Still Post of the American Auxiliary, president of the Westport Federated Church Women of Westport, chairman or the Circle I Federated Church Women, chairman of the Essex County Chapter of the American Red Cross based in Westport under the leadership of Frank Gibson. Mildred chaired several blood bank drawings for Westport and Elizabethtown. She traveled with Mrs. Robert Hughes around Essex and Clinton counties working to establish a unit of united church women in the area, of which she served as the first president of the unit and later as the area chairman. She was a member of the Westport Board of Elections for several years and was the village clerk for many years.

In January of 1960, when her husband Mayor Clarence Chandler died, she was appointed Mayor of the Village of Westport , and was reelected in 1961, for the next term. During her administration firm plans were made to build a sewer for the village and the beginning of the ground work was accomplished.

In July of 1964, she married Spencer R. Egglefield Sr., of Elizabethtown and they spent their winters in Florida and summered in Westport-Elizabethtown area until his death and she made her home in Westport.

She is survived by two stepsons, Spencer Egglefield and Lew Egglefield of Elizabethtown; one brother-in-law, john P. Chandler of Medford, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. F.H. Rodliff of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Mrs. Robert Nickerson of So. Lunenburg, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

M.W. Marvin's Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline M. Booth

Plattsburgh — Pauline M. Booth, 73, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg Depot on Nov. 7, 1929, the daughter of Ernest and Regina (Bessett) Daignault.

She was employed for 27 years at Georgia Pacific and was a member of the VFW. Post 8793 Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by a daughter, Laura Roy of Plattsburgh; brother, Alfred Daignault of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Irene Bessey of Ticonderoga; two granddaughters, April Hebert and Crystal Barstow; and four great-grandchildren, Laurissa Hebert, Scott Hebert, Matthew Barstow and Megan Barstow.

Her husband, Harold C. Booth, died on Feb. 12, 1998.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Mabel E. Crowningshield

LEWIS — Mabel E. Crowningshield, 70, died at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, Tuesday, May 13, 2003.

She was born in Willsboro, N.Y., Feb. 1, 1933, the daughter of Charles and Mabel Spear.

Mrs. Crowningshield was a loving mother and grandmother and will be very much missed by her family.

She is survived by two sons, James Crowningshield Jr. and his wife, Donna of Waterbury, Conn., and Jerry Crowningshield and his fiancé, Lisa Schreiber of Lewis; three grandchildren, James, Venus and Angel Crowningshield; and two brothers, Charles and Gene Spear.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, James on June 28, 2003.

Calling hours will be held at the Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro., N.Y., Thursday, May 15, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Frederick Shaw, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Rescue Squad or the Fire Company.

Dulcie V. Sherman

WEST PLATTSBURGH — Dulcie V. Sherman (Bradford), 65, passed away May 13, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt., after a battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by her husband, Roger and her children.

Dulcie was born in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of William H. and Amy Bradford on Aug. 31, 1937.

She attended the first school for Practical Nursing the State of Maine offered in 1955. After graduation she worked for Dr. Meade Hayward in Caribou. When she made her home in Plattsburgh she worked at the former PAFB old hospital and then worked for Dr. George Bock. She attended school with the original Jimmy Fund boy from New Sweden, Maine, Einar Gustafson who was treated by the original Dr. Farber from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston when he was twelve years old. Einar survived and re-surfaced in 1998 to celebrate 50 years cancer free and to be honored as the original Jimmy Fund boy. Dulcie was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in 1998 and Einar was by her side to personally introduce to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dulcie went through a stem cell transplant that prolonged her life cancer free for four years. Unable to go through a bone marrow transplant, God took her home.

Dulcie was a long time business woman. She was co-founder of TwinState//Voice. DataVideo.

After taking early retirement she ventured into building homes. She and Roger, built a subdivision of homes at Sherman Place North in Plattsburgh. She was an original charter member of the Plattsburgh Builders Association. She was a member of the Plattsburgh Chamber of Commerce for many years, acting in the capacity of Ambassador. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Plattsburgh. where She loved her church and music, especially singing hymns.

Dulcie is survived by her Guardian Angel and loving husband, Roger; her three children, Dawn Collins and fiancée Kevin Juneau, Clark Currier and his wife Jodi and Devi Momot and her husband Peter. She is survived by six grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Joelle, Chelsea and Ethan Currier and Ashton and Alissa Momot. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Roger E. Sherman II and his wife Debbie of Ogdensburg, N.Y., Gary Sherman and his wife Cindy of Willsboro, N.Y., Michael Sherman and his wife Lisa of New Port Richey , Fla., and Rebecca Loveless and her husband Dan of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She leaves nine stepgrandchildren, Roger E. Sherman III, Katie and Joseph Sherman of Ogdensburg, N.Y., Ashley and Clay Sherman of Willsboro, N.Y., Kassie Sherman of New Port Richey, Fla., and Russell, Brian and Guy Loveless of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She is also survived by two brothers, Fuessel Bradford of Tampa, Fla., and Lendall Bradford and his wife Ethel of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Marion Dickenson and her husband Lawton of Loudonville, N.Y., and Greta Mayer and her husband Warren of Rochester, N.Y. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Dulcie was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Harry Bradford.

Dulcie was a gourmet cook, a gardener and loved entertaining. She loved and admired her family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17th, at 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church on Beekman Street in Plattsburgh. Entombment will follow immediately at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens, on Tom Miller Road in Plattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dulcie V. Sherman Nursing Scholarship Fund c/o the family.

John L. Bailey, 68, of Brandy Brook Road in Ellenburg, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Buffalo on April 10, 1934, son of the late Elva Lee and Lillian (Hallam) Bailey.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Stewart M. Llewellyn, 60, of Hamilton Street, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Holyoke, Mass., on Jan. 6, 1943, the son of Don A. and Phyllis Jane (Wright) Llowellyn.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Peter John BESSETTE Jr., 39, of Saugerties and most recently Ticonderoga, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at the home of his mother in Ticonderoga after a long illness.

He was born Oct. 25, 1963, in Ticonderoga.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place Saturday, 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

REDFORD — A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 16, 2003, at the Church of the Assumption in Redford at 9 a.m. for Howard Facteau and Leroy Maggy.

The arrangements are by the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Hathaway — A graveside committal service for Rev. Lucy Babb Hathaway, who died March 7, 2003, will be held Saturday, May 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Reber Cemetery in Willsboro.

Rumney Graveside committal services for Evelyn Rumney, who died March 13, 2003, will be held Friday, May 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Hoskins — A graveside committal service for Julia Hoskins, who died Dec. 23, 2002, will be held Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Cemetery, Willsboro.

CURRIER — Graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. May, 17, 2003, at St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Tupper Lake for Franklin "Butch" Currier who died Dec. 21, 2002.

Arrangements will be provided by Richer Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.

PRATT — A committal service for Davison R. Pratt, 74, who died Jan. 11, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, in the Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers was in charge of arrangements.

RYAN — A graveside service for Audrey L. Ryan, of Lyon Mountain, who passed away over the winter will be held Friday, May 16, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the St. Bernard's Cemetery in Lyon Mountain.

Arrangements were with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
