Published: 05/13/03Maybelle Edna HarperPutnam Station Maybelle Edna Harper, 81, of Putnam Station and formerly of Crown Point, passed away Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. She was born in Crown Point, April 11, 1922, the daughter of the late Ward and Mary Jane (Allen) Clarke. Mrs. Harper was a resident of Crown Point and the surrounding area all of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer G. Harper Sr.; and by three children, Anna Mae Harper, Deborah Lou Harper and Wanda Jean Harper. Survivors include seven sons, Elmer G. (Sonny) Harper Jr. of Crown Point, Charles A. Harper Sr. of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Richard E. Harper Sr. of Pennelville, George A. Harper of Perry, Harold A. (Buck) Harper of Tampa, Fla., Leon W. Moses of Conesus and Randy T. Moses of Putnam Station; six daughters, Anita M. Fleming of Tampa, Fla., Pearl E. Beauchamp of Adel, Ga., Bonnie A. Shippee of Lutz, Fla., Mary E. Willy of Gainesville, Fla., Christine L. Baker of Castile and Penny E. Allen of Perry; one brother, Ward Clarke of Arizona; and two sisters, Geneva Bemis of Ticonderoga and formerly of crown Point and Cora Merrik of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by 51 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grand-children; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin Street, Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Fair View Cemetery of Crown Point. Marion L. QuinnWestport Marion L. Quinn, 84, of the Farrar Home and formerly of 36 Pleasant Street, Westport, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. She was born in West Chazy, Oct. 12, 1918, the daughter of William H. and Nettie E. (Taylor) LaPlante. She married John H. Quinn, July 17, 1943, in Americas, Ga. He died March 26, 1998. She was also predeceased by her parents. Marion graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1935, Plattsburgh Normal School in 1938, and Plattsburgh State University in 1960. She taught elementary grades at Saratoga Battlefield School and Westport Central School for 28 years. Marion was a longtime active member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Westport. She was also a member of the New York State Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and enjoyed debating the news and keeping up on current events and the activities of her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Judy Quinn of Edmond, Okla., Patrick and Brenda Quinn of Chateaugay and Kerry and Julie Quinn of South Cairo; nine grandchildren, Sean, Cody, Megan, Ryan, John, Elyse, Conor, Bridget and Eileen; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ken and Ellen LaPlante of Morrisonville, Claude and Marge LaPlante of Largo, Fla., and Arnold LaPlante of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Westport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Church in Westport, with Monsignor Peter Riani, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice of Essex County. Clifford J. GowettePlattsburgh Clifford J. Gowette, 71, of the Banker Road, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 11, 2003, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 7, 1932, son of Fred and Mary (Trombley) Gowett. Clifford had served as a chef in the United States Air Force during World War II, was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville and had been employed by Imperial Paper Mill in Plattsburgh, retiring after 25 years. Clifford is survived by two sisters, Mae Campbell of Plattsburgh and Louise DeCarlo of Plattsburgh; a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Alice Gowett of Port Orange, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Melita Gowett of Plattsburgh and Joyce Gowett of Plattsburgh and Florida. Clifford was predeceased by his wife, Mary; his parents; and several brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening, May 13, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at 11 a.m. from St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Meadowbrook Nursing Home where he was a volunteer since 2002. Evelyn M. SouciaChateaugay Evelyn M. Soucia, 93, of Burchacon Apartments, Chateaugay, died May, 11, 2003, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y. She was born in Chateaugay, N.Y. on June 14, 1909, the daughter of Charles and Emma (LaPlante) Seymour. She was married to Arthur Soucia on Feb. 11, 1929, in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay by Rev. Dean. He predeceased her on April 27, 1974. Mrs. Soucia is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Joan Soucia of Austin, Texas; two nephews and their wives, Donald and Ann Patnode of Thayers Comers and Robert and Linda Patnode of Thayers Corners; two granddaughters, Jill Carvell and Joy Ray; four great-grandchildren, Jay Cormier, Katie Kimbrough, Charlie Kimbrough Chris Carvell; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter, Jan Marie Soucia; a brother, John Seymour; a sister, Nellie Patnode; and Jimmy Seymour, her nephew and godson. Mrs. Soucia helped her husband on the family farm on the Seymour Road, Chateaugay until 1964 when fire destroyed the barn. She and her husband then owned and operated Art and Ev's Bar in Burke from 1964 until the early 1970's when they retired. Calling hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. only. Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Raymond J. Moreau, officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Chateaugay Rescue Squad. JANE W. PAGE , 95, of Lake Placid and Mesa, Ariz., died Monday, May 12, 2003.There are no calling hours. A memorial service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Eustace Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. Judson Pealer, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice, PO Box 840, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements. Alger A graveside service for Ruth Alger, who passed away over the winter will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Arrangements were with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, Blair A graveside service for Myrte E. Blair who passed away over the winter will be held Wednesday, May, 14, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Saranac Independence Cemetery in Saranac. Arrangements were with the Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville. VanHoesen A graveside srvice for Elizabeth A. VanHoesen, who passed away Feb. 15, 2003, will take place on Friday, May 16, 2003, at 12 noon at the family plot of the Bethlehem Cemetery. The Rev. Marjorie J. Floor will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, Ticonderoga. Barcomb A memorial mass for Floyd Barcomb will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks at 9 a.m. with burial to follow. The arrangements are by the R.W.
