Lena Dorothy King-Cockran

Plattsburgh — Lena Dorothy King-Cockran, 79, formerly of Waterhouse Street, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 14, 1924, daughter of Napoleon and Mary (Bressette) Garrant.

Lena had been employed at Imperial Wallpaper Mill and she retired from Sacred Heart Nursing Home. She enjoyed music, dancing and having a good time.

Lena was a member of Our Lady of Victory parish in Plattsburgh.

Lena is survived by three sons, Richard A. King Jr. and his wife Nancy of Bridgton, Maine, Robert J. King of Plattsburgh and Donald F. King of Albany; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" and Kenneth Ingalls of Valdese, N.C., and Susan and John Rechenberg of Bristol, Conn.; a brother, Robert R. Garrant and his wife Josie of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Sarah Garrant Alexander of Plattsburgh; 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lena was predeceased by her parents, Napoleon and Mary Garrant; a sister, Mary Mooney and her husband Harold; her first husband, Richard A. King Sr.; her second husband, Ernest Cockran; and her brother Napoleon Garrant Jr.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 29, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at noon from Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Richard R. Reeves

Plattsburgh — Richard R. Reeves, 55, of Terrace West, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his family by his side.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 30, 1947, son of Raymond W. and Claire Reeves.

Richard was a graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy. He had served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. Richard was a clerk at the Plattsburgh Post Office for 33 years, retiring in 2002. He was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125 in Plattsburgh. Richard was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. He was an avid New York Giants fan and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jan (Stone) Reeves of Plattsburgh; his mother, Claire Reeves of Plattsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janice Reeves of Saratoga; a daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Matt Powers of Derry, N.H.; a stepson and his wife, Christopher and Cathy Premore of Plattsburgh; stepdaughter, Meighan Brooks of Plattsburgh; a granddaughter, Abigail Jayne; his brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Darla Reeves of Burlington, Vt.; his sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jim Matthews of Beekmantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by his father, Raymond W. Reeves.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 2 p.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Luella "KoKo" L. (LaGrave) Schwank

Plattsburgh —Luella "KoKo" L. (LaGrave) Schwank, 55, of Cubb Circle, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in New Jersey on Feb. 15, 1948, daughter of William C. and Bertha (Perham) LaGrave.

Luella is survived by her companion, William E. Laundry of Plattsburgh; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Melissa LaGrave Sr. of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Lisa Miller and John Rice of Peru; three grandchildren, Curtis LaGrave Jr., Jordan LaGrave and Jessica LaGrave; two stepdaughters, Kortney Laundry and Tamara Burke; a stepson, Chad Laundry; two sisters, Lillian of South Carolina and Gloria Tourville of Morrisonville; twin brothers, Mervin and Diane LaGrave and Marvin and Deborah LaGrave; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 30, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2003, at 10 a.m. from Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Bleaux officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Plattsburgh,

Florence B. Rock

Keeseville — Florence B. Rock, 71, of Chesterfield Street, Keeseville, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at her home under the loving care of her family and High Peaks Hospice.

She was born in AuSable Forks on Feb. 16, 1932, the daughter of Patrick and Dorothy (Miller) Blake.

Florence was a past auxiliary member of the Keeseville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1505.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with her close friends.

Survivors include her husband, David H. Rock of Keeseville; one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Hector Blaise of Saranac Lake; one son, Jamie Zeno of Jay; three grandchildren, Todd, Eric and Hannah Blaise; three sisters, Kate Moyer of Fresno, Calif., Christina Oliver of Willsboro and Peg Gilbert of Lantana, Fla.; one brother, Robert Blake of Merced, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and four sisters, Patricia, Dorothy, Norah and Judy.

Callings hours will be held Thursday, May 1, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at noon at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with Msgr. Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the High Peaks Hospice.

Jo-Ann Seguin

Peru — Jo-Ann Seguin, 45, of Moore Drive, Peru, passed away Monday, April 28, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, where she had been a patient since March.

She was born in Massena on Oct. 24, 1957, the daughter of the late 0rrin and Elizabeth (Duprey) Seguin.

Jo-Ann moved with her family to Peru in 1986 and worked at Champlain Valley Industries. She enjoyed a great friendship with her service coordinator, Patty McMannis of Chazy.

Jo-Ann enjoyed life, it’s as simple as that.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jody and Wanda and nephew Shaun of Peru and Jay of Pennsylvania; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Steven and Jan LaBounty and nieces Sacha and Sable of Peru, with whom Jo-Ann lived with for 8 1/2 years and Jackie and Ken Larche and their children, Joshua, Brianna, Colby and Jacob.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Jamie.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru.

Donations in her memory may be made to the family.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Laura A. Ida

Mineville, N.Y. — Laura A. Ida, 87, of Mineville, N.Y., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y.

She was born in Arena, Italy, on Nov. 22, 1915, the daughter of Frank and Mary Franze.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Ida of Mineville; her sister, Mrs. Rose Parrow of Sundown, N.Y.; two children, Michael F. Ida and wife Judith of Elizabethtown and Joseph A. Ida Jr. and wife Linda of Shippenville, Pa; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a member of All Saints Church in Mineville. Laura dearly loved her husband, her family and her church.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at the Church of All Saints in Mineville. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Moria.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Laura's memory to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad, Moriah, N.Y.

Eugene J. Pelkey

Upper Jay, N.Y. — Eugene J. Pelkey passed away April 28, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

Eugene was born on July 18, 1942, in Black Brook, N.Y. He was the son of Shirley and Dorothy Pelkey.

He married Shirley Stevens on April 12, 1967.

Eugene served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war which included serving time overseas. He was employed by ORDA at Whiteface Mountain for the past 23 years.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Shirley; a daughter, DiDi (Pelkey) Remchuk and her husband Gordon; and two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Brooke and Jacob Remchuk. He is also survived by a brother and five sisters. His parents died before him.

At his request there will be no public calling hours or services. Graveside services will be at the privacy and convenience of the family.

Those wishing may make donations in his memory to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center at the CVPH Medical Center.

Earl W. Ayotte

Spring Hill, Fla. — Earl W. Ayotte, 76, of Spring Hill, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Dannemora, N.Y., and came to Florida 22 years ago from Liverpool, N.Y.

He was Catholic by faith, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a supreme court stenographer and retired from the New York State government court system.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Athanasia of Spring Hill; four daughters, Mary E. O'Connell of Agawam, Mass., Deborah McCarthy of Rochester, N.Y., Christian LeBlanc of Cape Cod, Mass., and Jennifer Ayotte of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Richard Ayotte of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Jane Watts of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Nancy Donley of Kissimmee, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements are with the Brewer and Sons Funeral Home of Spring Hill, Fla.

Lester E. Crossley

Schenectady — Lester E. Crossley, 73, of Schenectady, died Friday at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital.

He was born and raised in West Chazy, lived in Texas for several years and in Schenectady for the past 20 years.

Lester was self employed as a painter and did other construction work.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Crossley; two daughters, Sandra St. Germaine of Plattsburgh and Theresa Crossley of West Chazy; a sister, Mildred Destotel of Chazy; five grandchildren, Melissa Guerin, Ricky St. Germaine, Travis St. Germaine, Chad St. Germaine and Charles Crossley; three great-grandchildren, Rufus and Michael Guerin and Abigail St. Germaine.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave., Schenectady.

Carpenter — A graveside service for Elinor May Carpenter, who passed away over the winter will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at 3:30 p.m. in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery in Schuyler Falls. Arrangements were with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Taylor — A Memorial Mass for Josephine Taylor will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at 1 p.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Arrangements are by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
