Published: 04/25/03Wayne G. MonroePlattsburgh — Mr. Wayne G. Monroe, 69, of Prospect Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born in Leray, N.Y., on June 18, 1933, the son of Kenneth L. and Margaret (Call) Monroe. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy Atlantic Fleet as an E.M.2. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Wayne had been an engineer at New York Telephone Company and with Twin State Telephone in Morrisonville. Wayne loved his family, life and golfing. He was a quiet man who taught by example. He will be missed by those whose lives he touched. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret Monroe; and his dear sister, Marlene Taylor of Watertown. Wayne is survived by his children, Carolann Monroe of New York City, Deborah Kampschror of Plattsburgh and Patrick W. Monroe; two granddaughters, Shannon and Rachel Kampschror; his former wife, Mary Monroe Brewster; three brothers, Ronald Monroe and his wife Pat of Webster, N.Y., Gary Monroe of Paisley, Fla., and K. David Monroe, of Watertown, N.Y.; a sister, Sharon M. Lasker, also of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church with the Rev. Floyd "Jerry" Bleaux, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to the charity of one’s choice. John J. TwomblyScottsdale, Ariz. — John J. Twombly, 86, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died April 22, 2003. He was born March 21, 1917, in Rochester, N.H. He graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, Vt., lettering in tennis and baseball. Following U.S. Army service, he worked at Goddard's Bakery in Claremont, N.H., then went into hardware sales and later for 35 years with the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in New Hampshire and Plattsburgh, N.Y. He established a general agency in Scottsdale in the early seventies and retired in 1997. He was a member of St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church, the Arizona Country Club, the Masons and was a loyal Red Sox fan. Preceded in death by his son John, he is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor of Scottsdale; daughter Judith J. Twombly of Loudonville, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Barbara Louko Twombly of Spencer, N.Y.; and a sister, Glenrose Sheridan of Lyndonville, Vt. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Sunday on April 27, 2003, at Scottsdale Village Square, 2620 N. 68th Street. Memorial contributions may be made to KAET or the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe, AZ 85282 in memory of Mr. Twombly. Lawrence E. "Larry" BrunellPlattsburgh — Mr. Lawrence E. "Larry" Brunell, 79, of Route 9 North, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Morrisonville, N.Y., on Feb. 6, 1924, the son of William and Lina (Lebrun) Brunell. Lawrence had worked construction for many years and was a member of the Laborers Local 186. He enjoyed watching wrestling and racing. Larry was greatly loved by everyone. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Lina Brunell; his first wife Myrtle Brunell; his second wife Clara Brunell; a son, Donald Eugene Brunell; two sisters, Margaret Hemingway and Marie LaForest; and a son-in-law, Robert Bishop. He is survived by six sons, Jerry Brunell and his wife Louise of Clifton Park, N.Y., James and Marilyn Brunell of Peru, Lawrence "Sonny" Brunell Jr. and his wife Donna of Plattsburgh, Michael Brunell and his companion Darlene King of Peru, Robert Brunell and his companion Debbie Rockwell of Keeseville and Danny Brunell and his wife Gina Lashway Brunell of Plattsburgh; four daughters, Geraldine Fabrizzeo of Plattsburgh, Betty Bishop of Peru, Peggy Bryant and her husband Russell of Saranac and Tammy Goddeau and her husband Edward Sr. of Morrisonville; a brother, Gerald Brunell of Plattsburgh; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William G. Reamer, chaplain at CVPH Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy. Friends wishing may make donations to his family. |
