Published: 04/14/03Elizabeth A. CordickPLATTSBURGH — Elizabeth A. Cordick, 91, of Stetson Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Meadowbrook Health Care Rehabilitation Facility with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on July 28, 1911, daughter of John T. and Mary G. (Golden) Fassett. Elizabeth was a graduate of St. John’s Academy and the Champlain Valley School of Nursing in 1935. She began her nursing career at Champlain Valley Hospital. In her position as director of Nursing Service, she facilitated the merger of services at Champlain Valley and Physicians Hospital. Elizabeth retired from CVPH Medical Center in 1970. She was a volunteer at Hospice of the North Country and St. Peter’s School following her retirement. She was a member of the CVPH Nurses Alumni Association, a member of St. John’s Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America Court Mary Immaculate in Plattsburgh, the Regina Maria Spiritual Center and St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Elizabeth is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Carmen Cordick of Plattsburgh; and Claire and Paul Kopita of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Bobby Cordick, Katie Kopita, David Kopita; her caregiver, Mari Provost; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Cordick, and her brother, Emmett T. Fassett. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 10 a.m. from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to St. John’s Endowment Fund. Deborah A. AlgerPLATTSBURGH — Deborah "Debbie" A. Alger, 47, of Deon Way, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Mount Holly, N.J. She was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 12, 1955, the daughter of Robert and Helena (Guyette) Alger. Debbie was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She was a food-service worker at Plattsburgh Middle School from 1983 until the present time. Debbie was a member and current president of the Ralph J. Davison American Legion Auxiliary Unit #538 in Mooers and past president of the Clinton County American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer bingo caller for Our Lady of Victory for many years, and she was an avid baker. Survivors include her son, Mark Garrow of Plattsburgh; her mother, Helena Alger of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Kevin Alger and his wife, Suzanne, and Scott Alger and his wife, Cynthia, all of Plattsburgh; one sister, Linda Shepard and her husband, Raymond, of Browns Mills, N.J.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Two sons, Chad and Jeffrey, died in their infancy. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held 2:30 p.m. and an American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Church. Donations, in her memory, may be made to the Ralph J. Davison American Legion Auxiliary Unit #538. |
