George W. Harris Jr.

Plattsburgh — George W. Harris Jr., 85, of 7174 Rte. 9, passed away April 11, 2003, at the Clinton County Nursing Home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 10, 1917, the son of George Sr. and Anna (Halpin) Harris. George graduated from Plattsburgh High in 1939.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, 26th Infantry, on the Western Front. He was in eight battles, including the Battle of the Bulge. He received many medals of honor and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 20. He was an electrician for many years and retired in 1980.

George married Nellie Lamberton at the Methodist Parsonage in Mooers in 1946.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nellie Harris; a son, Robert Harris; a daughter, Nancy and her husband Richard Bordeau; two grandchildren, Kara and Savannah Bordeau; one brother, Arthur Harris, all of Plattsburgh; four sisters and two brothers- in-law, Dana Harris of Albany, Clara and Larry LaPlante of Latham, N.Y., Florence and John Hanchar of Illinois and Rosemary Harris of Arlington, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Reeves and Lela Proctor.

At George's request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks at a later date.

Donations may be made in memory of George to Clinton County Nursing Home, 16 Flynn Ave., Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Arrangements are by the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Vezina "Ve" Favreau

Mooers — Vezina "Ve" Favreau died Friday, April 11, 2003, at the home of her daughter.

Vezina was born in Mooers on Oct. 12, 1920, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Rabideau) Dumas.

Vezina worked at the Mooers Slipper Factory, S&H Green Stamps and at the Country Store in Sciota for many years, until September 2000.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diana Favreau of Mooers; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Peter Dufour of Mooers; a sister, Catherine Mayo of West Chazy, a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Joseph Rock of San Diego, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gladys Dumas of Mooers; six grandchildren: two grandsons, Danny Favreau of Remsen, N.Y., and Dejay and Marina Favreau of Hickory, N.C., four granddaughters, Kimberly and Randy LaFave of Mooers, Karen Dufour and Juanita Woznicki of Champlain, Kelly and Jess Dixon of Mooers Forks and Kristine and Robb Mooso of Nashua, N.H. She also has six great - grandchildren, Samantha and Skyler Searor, Jacob and Lucas Dixon and Owen and Payson Rose Mooso.

Her husband Ernest died in 1990; a great-grandson, Joey Searor, died in 1989; her father, Peter Dumas, died in 1972 and her mother, Dora Dumas, died in 1992.

Calling hours will be held at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

Mooers Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country or to the Mooers Rescue Squad.

Marie A. Lawrence, 63, of Champlain, passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain.

Elizabeth A. Cordick, 91, of Stetson Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility, with her family by her side.

Calling hours and funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.
