Helen Patterson Smith

WILLSBORO — Helen Smith, 93, formerly of Willsboro, died at the Vilas Home in Plattsburgh, Sunday, April 6, 2003.

Mrs. Smith was born in Willsboro on July 1, 1909, the daughter of Frank and Myra Jane (Baldwin) Patterson.

She was a member of the Willsboro United Methodist Church, the Paine Memorial Friends of the Library and the Willsboro United Methodist Women. She was also a former member of the Iroquois Chapter OES and an avid bridge player. She and her husband voluntarily arranged and supplied the shut-ins and local nursing homes with floral arrangements for many years.

In 1928, she was a member of the last class to graduate from Willsboro High School located on Maple Street.

In the fall of 1928, she married Festus Smith. After her husband retired, they traveled to Greece, Venezuela, Brazil and the Philippines with the Executive Service Corp. In 1998, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her children, Howard and Sue Smith of Salem, Ore., Myrtice and C. Daniel Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lucille Ammenheuser of Henrietta, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Carl Holmes, Stacy Boost, Gregory and Michael Smith, Howard, Robert and Gwen Ammenheuser; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Marion Cioppa, Marge Forrence, Grace Uhlig, Dottie Dodds, Richard and Donald Reynolds.

Predeceasing her were her parents, her brother Bert Patterson, her sister Mary Elizabeth (Pat) Reynolds, and her husband, Fes Smith.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Huestis Funeral Home in Willsboro. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Willsboro United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Paine Memorial Library or the Willsboro Rescue Squad.

SONIA P. POWER, 67, of Whallonsburg, died Friday, April 9, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Keeseville on May 9, 1935, the daughter of Reginald and Ida (Lincoln) McLean. Arrangements are incomplete with W.M. Marvins Sons funeral home in Elizabethtown.

NATHALIA ‘TALI’ ST. DENIS, 82, of Rugar Street, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

CLIFTON ROBERT THOMAS, 81, of Malone, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Brandon, he was a son of Melvin and Thuse (Eseltine) Thomas.

Calling hours will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. today at Spaulding Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Milligan officiating.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Covington St., Malone.
