Published: 04/02/03James H. Annis Jr.Peru — James H. Annis Jr., 73, of Lapham Mills Road, Peru, died Tuesday, April 01, 2003, at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, Oct. 6, 1929, the son of James H. and Ethel (Default) Annis. He served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 14, 1948 to April 22, 1952. He was a member of the Peru Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 309. Jim worked and retired from the Army Depot in Schenectady, where he worked from 1953 to 1966. He also worked for Jim's Drywalling in Plattsburgh. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and working. Survivors include his longtime companion, Margaret I. Varno of Peru; one daughter, Janet Palmer of Patterson; four sons, James Annis III of Cobleskill, Jeff Annis of Peru, Joe Annis of Mariaville and John Annis of Cobleskill; one stepson, James Varno of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Ella Parent and Evangeline Macey, both of Peru; two brothers, Clayton Annis of Richmonville and LeRoy Annis of Virginia; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10 to 12 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m. with Reverend Sally White, pastor of the Keeseville and Harkness United Methodist Churches, officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad. Roland L. JennettePLATTSBURGH — Roland L. Jennette, 79, of South Peru Street, Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in West Chazy on Feb. 4, 1924, the son of Simeon and Emma (Ratta) Jennette. Roland graduated from Chazy Central School in 1942, he was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus for 55 years. He married Donna Guay on Oct. 25, 1953, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. He worked with his brothers at Jennette's IGA and worked for the Plattsburgh Municipal Lighting Department for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Donna Jennette of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Darleen and Joe Mazzillo of Orlando, Fla.; a son Rick Jennette of Morrisonville and his companion Patti Branham; three grandchildren, Heather Mazzillo, Angela Mazzillo and Sarah Jennette; two sisters, Doris Wilson of Chazy and Dorothy Wilson of Chazy; one brother, Alwin Jennette of Long Island. Roland was one of 11 children, seven died earlier. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Bleaux, pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that Masses be made in his memory. Bette Ann (Harrold) (Rowe) ButlerArkport, N.Y. — Bette Ann (Harrold) (Rowe) Butler, age 61, passed away March 26, 2003, at Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville, N.Y., after an extended illness. Bette is survived by her husband of 29 years, William A. Butler; a son, Brooke A. Rowe and wife Conney S. of Walled Lake, Mich.; a daughter, Beth A. (Rowe) Williams and husband Trevor J. of Oneida, N.Y.; stepsons, David Butler of Akron, Ohio and Andrew Butler and wife Gina of Oneida, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Bette was a native of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y., a daughter of the late John and Jessie Harrold; she was also predeceased by two brothers, John Jr. and Robert. She graduated from Ellenburg Central School and received a bachelor of arts and master of sciences degree from Plattsburgh State. She taught at Liverpool Central School for 13 years before she took a disability retirement in 1983. She resided in the Arkport area from 1992 until her death. There will be no prior calling. A graveside memorial service will be held at Hartland Cemetery, Middleport, N.Y., in June. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in memory of Bette Ann Butler. Lillian May Jennette, 98, formerly of Chazy, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church in Coopersville. Raymond A. Bedard, 99, of Champlain, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Theresa Thorton of Jersey Swamp Road, West Chazy. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 12 noon on Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain. Roseanne Decker Bell, 59, of Bear Creek, N.C., and formerly of New York, died March 23, 2003, at her home. Calling hours were held Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Jones Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville, N.C., with Reverend Terry Golden, officiating. |
