Published: 03/29/03Thelma M. MaslakCumberland Head — Mrs. Thelma M. Maslak, 81, of Bay Road, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on April 1, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Trombley) Bordeau. Thelma had worked at Larkin's Drug Store, Gordon's Shoe Shop and retired from Beemer's Stationary. Thelma will be remembered as a kind and generous person who enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church on Cumberland Head. Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Maslak; a sister, Freda Bell; and a brother, Wilmer Burdo. She is survived by three daughters, Joan Mitromaras of Santa Clara, Calif., Betty Ann Sargent of Essex Junction, Vt., and Sandra Merrihew of West Chazy; six grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Scaillet, Audrey Langol, Dawn Krider, Gregory and Bethany Sargent, Gwynne and Robert Russell and Julie and Russell Monty; one great-grandson, Ryan Scaillet; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Cumberland Head. Interment will be at a later date in St. Peter's Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to the American Lung Association. Greta M. WebbPLATTSBURGH — Greta M. Webb, 85, of North Catherine Street, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. Mrs. Webb was born in Ellenburg on Nov. 4, 1917, the daughter of George and Belle (McKinney) Hoy. She married Ross Webb at the Methodist Parsonage in Champlain in 1940. Mrs. Webb enjoyed her camp at Pt. Au Roche where, at one time, she was an excellent water skier. She graduated from Ellenburg High School where she won many metals for track as a sprinter. Greta worked at the B.F.D. Mill, Vanity Fair, Diamond Match and finally at Georgia Pacific Paper Mills for 25 years, retiring in 1968. Survivors include her husband Ross Webb; one brother, Morris Hoy and his wife Dolores of Plattsburgh; one sister, Ethel Lester of Beekmantown; one sister-in-law, Marylou Hoy of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Champlain at a later date. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements. Susan Lewis-Kiroy, 57, of the Gene LaFevere Road, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 27, 1945, daughter of the late Wilton and Nina (LeClair) Lewis. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Arrangements are with the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Andrew S. Young, 80, of Forge Street, Altona, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. Calling hours and funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home, Altona. |
