Lawrence L. Carpenter

Plattsburgh — Lawrence L. Carpenter, 51, of Erin Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y.

He was born in Plattsburgh on July 23, 1951, son of Harry J. and Mary (Howe) Carpenter.

Larry was a 1970 graduate of St. John's Academy where he was a three sport standout and Most Valuable Player for CVAC football. He graduated from Plattsburgh State with a bachelors and masters degree in education. Larry taught at St. John's Academy from 1975 to 1979. He was the head football coach for St. John's Academy from 1979 to 1988 and the head coach for Seton Catholic Central from 1989 to 1998. He was honored as CVAC Coach of the Year thirteen times.

In 1985 he received a license for real estate sales. He sold real estate for Century 21 in Plattsburgh. Larry was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge 621, Seton Catholic Booster Club and was also active with the Battle of Plattsburgh Association. He was a member of St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Larry was vice-president and co-owner of Carpenter Brothers Moving and Storage, Inc., in Plattsburgh and Watertown.

Larry is survived by his mother, Mary M. Carpenter of Plattsburgh; his wife of 27 years, Suzanne (LaChapelle) Carpenter of Plattsburgh; one son, Cory Carpenter of Albany; one daughter, Christina Carpenter of Plattsburgh; seven brothers and sisters, John H. and Patricia Carpenter of Plattsburgh, Mickey J. Carpenter of Plattsburgh, Mary Sue and Nicholas Scors of Plattsburgh, Jody and Steve Fessette of Point au Roche, Peter and Cindy Carpenter of Morrisonville, Lori and John Jenkins of Plattsburgh and Vickie and Randy Parmeter of Plattsburgh; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his father, Harry J. Carpenter, on Dec. 19, 2002.

Calling hours will be Sunday, March 30, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2003, at 10 a.m. from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh.

Grace E. Quesnel

Mooers — Grace E. Quesnel, 77, of Mooers, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg on Sept. 17, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Bessie Forrett.

She is survived by a son, Ronald Quesnel and his companion Nancy Brennan of Rouses Point; two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene Hughes of Mooers and Janice and Tom Brooks of Mooers; a sister, Rita Badore of Tupper Lake; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Floyd Forrett, died before her.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday from St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mooers Fire Department or the Mooers Rescue Squad.

The E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot is in charge of arrangements.

William M. "Bill" Nelson

Keeseville — William M. "Bill" Nelson, 71, of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at the Fletcher Allen Healthcare Center in Burlington, Vt., following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Brooklyn on April 11, 1931, the son of Mitchell and Sophie Nelson.

He was an independent actor but best known for voice-over of commercials both locally and nationally. He also appeared in three episodes of "Law and Order" and had a starring roll in the 1989 comedy "Cadillac Man" with Robin Williams.

Prior to his film career, he was the in-house vice president of U.S. Tobacco.

He was an avid antique collector.

Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia K. Strong of Keeseville; one son, Gil Nelson of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Henry K. Freedman Renal Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Anthony E. (Tony) Rossi Jr., 53, of Fayetteville, Ark., died March 22, 2003, in Fayetteville.

He was born June 8, 1949, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Anthony Edwards Rossi Sr. and Marie (Fuoco) Rossi.

A private burial will be at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery in Rush, N.Y., by the family.

Arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville.
