Alfreda K. LaBounty

Peru — Alfreda K. LaBounty, 72, of Apple Valley Drive, Peru, past away peacefully, Monday, March 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ticonderoga, March 27, 2003, the daughter of John and Martha (Hulbert) Treadway.

Mrs. LaBounty was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed outdoor activities including bird watching.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Timothy Delaney of Morrisonville; two grandsons, Roger L. LaBounty and his companion, Rachel Jiguere of Plattsburgh and Travis J. Nunn of Plattsburgh; one brother, Donald Treadway and his wife Florence of Schenectady; two sisters-in-law, Cora LaBounty of Keeseville and Agnes Goodrow formerly of Clintonville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard W. LaBounty; one great-grandson, Brandon L. LaBounty; four brothers, Richard, Arnold, Mitchell and Reginald Treadway; one sister, Beulah Filio, two brothers-in-law, George Goodrow and Donald LaBounty.

There will be no public calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Port Douglas Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Helen C. Blow

Ellenburg Center — Helen C. Blow, 88, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg Center on Oct. 5, 1914, the daughter of Frederick J. and Ethel C. (Hindes) Carpenter.

Helen graduated from Plattsburgh Normal School and taught in the Ellenburg District for several years before being employed by the Clinton County Department of Social Services for many years retiring as Director in 1978.

She was a member of the Ellenburg Center United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by a niece, Kay and Robert Washbourne of Plattsburgh; three nephews, Thomas B. and Yvonne Hobbs of Nichols, Robert and Joan Hobbs of Ellenburg Center and Donald and Maryanne Brooks of Greenwich; a brother-in-law, Marshall and Sonja Blow of Rouses Point; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

Her husband Donald, died in 1971. Her sister, Frances Hobbs died in 1996 and a great-nephew, Robert Washbourne died in 1995.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services win be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ellenburg Center Rescue Squad, the Vilas Home or the United Methodist Church of Ellenburg Center.

William W. Osburn

BEEKMANTOWN — William W. Osburn, 65, of Beekmantown, N.Y., passed away peacefully at his home on the Burke Road, Beekmantown, on March, 24, 2003.

He was born Sept. 26, 1937 in Bedford, Iowa, the son of Walter and Mildred (Pollock) Osburn.

After graduation from Bedford High School, William enlisted in the Air Force May 31, 1956. He proudly served his country as an Air Craft Mechanic for 24 years and did one tour in Vietnam, retiring in 1980. While serving his country he received the Air Force Commendation Medal. He is presently a member of the American Legion Post 20.

After retiring from the service he continued to work, working for Patrick’s Vending Service for four and a half years, Merkel’s Department Store in shipping and receiving for nine years and presently employed at Sam’s Club which he helped open in shipping and receiving.

William is predeceased by his father, Walter and his mother Mildred, both of Bedford, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary of Beekmantown; two daughters, Jodie Lynn Osburn of Malone, N.Y., and Jodi Lou Sheridon and her husband Thomas of Bolton Landing, N.Y.; two sons, William Wells of Chicago, Ill., and his companion Lisa and Leslie "Todd" Wells and his wife Stacy of Gansvoort, N.Y.; two stepsons, Randy Lee Sears and his wife Helen of Beekmantown, N.Y., and Lawrence Sears and his companion Sherri of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Edwin and his wife Edith of Albuquerque, N.M., Robert and his wife Doris of Bedford, Iowa; a sister, Doris John and her husband James of Clinton, Iowa, Clark Meredith of Bedford, Iowa.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Plattsburgh. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date in the St. Peter’s Cemetery. Members of the American Legion post 20 are asked to meet Thursday at 7 p.m. for services.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Inc., 386 Rugar Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.

Karen Elizabeth Noone

Boca Raton, Fla.

Karen E. Noone, 46, of Boca Raton, Fla., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Dec. 13, 1956, the daughter of Robert H. and Mary M. Noone.

She attended Plattsburgh High School and SUNY Potsdam. At the time of her death she was working for Simon Properties in Boca Raton, Fla.

Survivors include her mother, Mary M. Noone of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two sisters, Kathryn L. Noone of Hoboken, N.J., and Andrea Stowe and her husband David and nephews Peter and Sammy of Natick, Mass.; her brother, Michael and his wife Amy of Montpelier Vt.; her Uncle Jack and Mary Lou Noone of Glens Falls, N.Y.; and her Aunt Marie and Robert Lariviere of Scotch Plains, N.J.; and eight cousins.

She was predeceased by her father, Robert in 1996; her grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Noone, formerly of Plattsburgh and Ocala, Fla., and Raymond and Catherine Menard of Springfield, Mass.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in Florida.

Honora Bedard

MOOERS — Honora Bedard, 79, of Mooers passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born June 12, 1923, in Napierville, Quebec, the daughter of Arthur and Antionette (Verdon) Richard.

She was predeceased by one son, Gilbert Bedard.

Survivors include, her husband, Andre Bedard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Honora Jones and her husband Lloyd of Freeport, Maine, and Lorraine Thone and her husband Gerry of Moorestorn, N.J.; six sons and daughters-in-law, Andre A. and Betty Bedard of Champlain, Charles and Sharlene Bedard of Mooers, Thomas and Lori Bedard of Mooers, Patrice and Carol Bedard of Mooers, Pascal and Dennissee Bedard of Warrensburg, Mo., and Hubert and Julie Bedard of Mooers; five sisters, Juliette Fortin of Napierville, Laurentia Richard of Montreal, Marie-Anne Richard of Notre Dame de Stanbridge, Antionette Fredette of Napierville and Jeanette Richard of Napierville; two brothers, Arcandide Richard of Napierville and Georges Richard of St. Jean; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Calling hours were held Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church in Mooers.

George McQueen

Lake Katrine — George McQueen died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Benedictine Hospital. He was 71.

He saved in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

He was born Oct. 3,1931 in Queens Village, NY, the son of George F. and Blanche McQueen Bradford.

He was the former vice president of Elizabethtown Builders, in charge of plumbing and heating. Moved in 1981, to Saugerties, NY. He was president of Auto Art of Hudson Valley Inc., and a member of the Saugerties Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne McQueen whom he married on June 6,1953; two daughters, Deborah Laughlin and Amy Folscher, both of Lake Katrine; two brothers, Robert of Lindenhurst, Long Island and Donald of Westport, N.Y.; a sister Joannie Newcomb of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Michael Laughlin of Elizabethtown, N.Y., and Matthew, Mary and Megan Laughlin of Lake Katrine.

Cremation was on March 25, 2003. A memorial service will be held at the Saugerties, N.Y., Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, Georges wishes were that the donations be made to the Kingdom Hall in Saugerties towards the building of the new Kingdom Hall.

SISTER Mary Margarita Riley R.S.M., 91, died March 24, 2003, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, where she resided since 1998.

Sister was born in North Bangor, N.Y., Aug. 27, 1911, the daughter of Thomas and Anna (McGowan) Riley.

Calling hours were held, Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at St. Margaret’s Convent Library. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel, Rev. Patrick O’Reilly Chaplain, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery in Tupper Lake in May.

The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
