Alys M. Fassett

PLATTSBURGH — Alys M. Fassett, 95, formerly of the Vilas Home, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home.

She was born in Enosburg Falls, Vt., on July 16, 1907, the daughter of William G. and Emma (Woodward) Fassett.

Alys was a cost accountant for General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., for many years.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alys was predeceased by two sisters, Mary L. Miner and Julia Clark; and two brothers, Harold Fassett and George Edmond Fassett.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral services at her request.

Burial will take place in the spring in Enosburg Center Cemetery in Enosburg, Vt.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Centre Glenville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 2772, Glenville, NY 12325-2772.

The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

Frank S. Veivia

Mooers — Frank S. Veivia, 91, of Mooers, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Ellenburg Depot on Aug. 29, 1911, the son of Joseph and Maude (Mayville) Veivia.

He was employed by the Town of Mooers Highway Department for 35 years and retired in 1976. He also worked for the Mooers Elementary School Green Thumb Program for five years after his retirement.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Harriet (Garrow) Veivia; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Frank and Beverly Veivia Jr. of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Wayne Veivia and his companion Ginger LaFountain of Mooers Forks; three daughters and a son-in-law, Shelba Clinard and her husband Francis Miller of Mooers Forks, Joan Decoteau of Chateaugay Lake and Jenny Veivia of Mooers; a brother, John Veivia of Schenectady; four sisters, Florence Smith of Ellenburg, Edna LePage of Malone, Mabel Fuller of Lake Luzerne and Theresa Daily of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A son, Raymond Veivia died on Dec. 24, 1972. He is also predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Veivia who died during World War II and Lawrence Veivia.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Mooers in the spring.

Jon Charles Hebert

Ticonderoga — Jon Charles Hebert, 36, of New York City and formerly of Ticonderoga passed away Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital of New York City.

He was born in Ticonderoga, May 17, 1966, the son of Jim and Ellen (Wagner) Hebert of Ticonderoga.

Mr. Hebert was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School and Adirondack Community College. He received a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Purchase.

He was employed as an office administrator at Carlson & Co., an advertising agency in New York City.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Ellen Hebert of Ticonderoga; two brothers, Jim E. Hebert of Rochester and Shayne Hebert of Orlando, Fla.; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Wagner of Troy; and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service was held at the Chapel of the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

Honora Bedard

MOOERS — Honora Bedard, 79, of Mooers passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born June 12, 1923, in Napierville, Quebec, the daughter of Arthur and Antionette (Verdon) Richard.

She was predeceased by one son, Gilbert Bedard.

Survivors include, two daughters and sons-in-law, Honora Jones and her husband Lloyd of Freeport, Maine, and Lorraine Thone and her husband Gerry of Moorestorn, N.J.; six sons and daughters-in-law, Andre A. and Betty Bedard of Champlain, Charles and Sharlene Bedard of Mooers, Thomas and Lori Bedard of Mooers, Patrice and Carol Bedard of Mooers, Pascal and Dennissee Bedard of Warrensburg, Mo., and Hubert and Julie Bedard of Mooers; five sisters, Juliette Fortin of Napierville, Laurentia Richard of Montreal, Marie-Anne Richard of Notre Dame de Stanbridge, Antionette Fredette of Napierville and Jeanette Richard of Napierville; two brothers, Arcandide Richard of Napierville and Georges Richard of St. Jean; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church in Mooers.

Paul Steven Lewis

KEENE VALLEY — Paul Steven Lewis, 86, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.

He was born in Jay, N.Y., on Aug. 28, 1916, educated in the Jay school district and upon completion of his education immediately joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. where he served his term in Hudson, N.Y.

He possessed a deep love for animals and the outdoors and after his return to the Jay area found his niche

through employment on area farms.

In August 1946, a husband and father of two small children, he went in search of a job "with regular hours" and applied for employment was hired as a guide at the AuSable Club in St. Huberts. In 1952 he was promoted to superintendent of the Adirondack Mountain Reserve, AuSable Club where he remained until his retirement on Oct. 31. 1997, a career that spanned more than 51 years.

He married Beatrice Shackett from Keene on July 14, 1940, and together they raised six of their own children and one foster child.

He is survived by one son, Robert of Wilmington; four daughters, Nona Duntley of Lewis, Nina Allen of Keene Valley, Paula Lewis of Wilmington and Julie Lewis of Elizabethtown; a foster daughter, Elizabeth LaForest of Plattsburgh; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife in September of 2002; and his son, Jerry in June of 1993.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2003, at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Keene at 11 a.m. Committal service will be held in the spring at Norton Cemetery in Keene.

Rose J. Williams

MORIAH, NY — Rose J. Williams, 103, of Windy Hill Road, Moriah, died Sunday, March 24, 2003, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital, Elizabethtown, N.Y.

Rose was born on July 14, 1899, in Newcomb, N.Y., the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Flynn) Shaughnessy.

She worked at Elk Lake and at Moriah High School for many years. She was an avid pinochle player and her greatest joy was her family and her many friends.

She is survived by the following, her son, Edmund (Bug) Williams and his wife Yvonne of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her daughter, Shirley Cornwell of Moriah, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Michael Cornwell and his wife Sheila of Canton, N.Y., and Dawn Belden and her husband Kent of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; her great-grandchildren, Chad Belden and Jennifer and Lindsey Cornwell.

She married Warren H. Williams on Nov. 22, 1922, and was predeceased by him on Nov. 6, 1961.

She was also predeceased by her brothers, George and Erwin Shaughnessy and her sister, Elizabeth Kelly.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Port Henry, with the Rev. Michael Toth officiating. Burial will be in South Moriah Cemetery later in the spring.

Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

William Wayne Osburn, 65, of the Burke Road, Beekmantown, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

John Morock, 85, of Horace Nye Home, Elizabethtown, died Sunday, March 23, 2003.

He was born, June 14, 1917, in Krayn, Penn., the son of Anthony and Johanna Morock.

Burial will take place at a later date at the Church of the Good Shepherd Columbarium.

W.M. Marvins Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.

Alfreda K. LaBounty, 72, of Apple Valley Drive, Peru, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.

Helen C. Blow, 88, formerly of Ellenburg Center, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements were incomplete Monday evening at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot.

Marguerite M. Gates, 77, formerly of Neil Street, Saranac Lake, N.Y., died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mass.

She was born in Hartford, Vt., on April 4, 1925, the daughter of Felix and Doris (Barnaby) Gates.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday March 26, 2003, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
