Albano Ribeiro

MINEVILLE, NY — Albano Ribeiro, 81, formerly of Mineville, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at The Community Nursing Home, Potsdam, N.Y.

He was born on April 15, 1921, in Pautkette, R.I., the son of Jose J. and Dolorosa (Ceu) Ribeiro.

Albano was a millwright at Republic Steel Corp. in Mineville for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the 15th Army Air Force.

He was a life member of the Mineville Post 5802 Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Ticonderoga and a third degree member of Council 384 Knights of Columbus, Port Henry.

He is survived by, his wife of 59 years, Loraine (Forgette) Ribeiro; daughter Diane and her husband Richard Gross and their children, Nancy and Laura Gross, Dana and Andy Gibson and Rebecca Gross, all of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter, Celeste and her husband Max Hall and their children, Michael and Richard LaFountain, Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter, Laureen and her husband Francis Cappello and their children, Francis Cappello III and Patrick Cappello, Potsdam, N.Y.; son, David and his wife Corinne Ribeiro; son, Shawn Ribeiro, Norwood, N.Y.; sisters, A. Dozinda Saraeva and Noemia de Paiva; brother, Alcino Ribeiro.

He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Ribeiro; his sister, Rosa Carvalho; and his brother, Francisco Ribeiro.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 21, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the Church of All Saints, Mineville, N.Y., with Rev. Michael Toth, officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence County, N.Y.

Bonnie Lee LaFave

Rouses Point — Bonnie Lee LaFave, 51, of Lake Street, Rouses Point passed away Friday, March 14, 2003, at her home.

She was born March 6,1952, in Troy, N.Y., the daughter of George and Geraldine (Manning) St. John.

She graduated from Northeastern Clinton Central School. Bonnie worked at Delagar, Borderview Grocery, the Miromar Bookstore and American Tobacco. She was also an avid bowler.

Survivors include her mother, Geraldine Marquardt; her husband, Thomas E. LaFave of Champlain; one son, Christopher M. Benyon and his companion Christine R. Jennings of Indianapolis; one daughter, Dayna L. LaFave and her companion Charles D. Enlow of Rouses Point; one grandchild, Dalton T. Enlow of Rouses Point; two stepdaughters, Alison L. LaFave of Concord, N.H., and Angela L. LaFave of Manchester, N.H.; one brother, Robert St. John and his wife Janice of Rouses Point; two sisters, Betty and Donald Garrand of Charleston, S.C., and Barbara Burke and her companion David Epps of Athens, Ga.; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

There are no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are with the Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point.

George H. Perrotte

Redford — George Henry Perrotte, 75, formerly of Redford, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at his residence in Harbor City, Calif.

He was born in Redford on Nov. 10, 1927, the son of Charles Henry and Justine (Lebrun) Perrotte.

Mr. Perrotte retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service as a supply officer.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Paul Perrotte of Cathedral City, Calif., George Charles Perrotte of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Mark Steven Perrotte of Dexter, N.Y.; two daughters, Thera Ann Savo of Cathedral City, Calif., and Justine Marie Martinez of Harbor City, Calif.; a brother, Lee Perrotte of Morrisonville; two sisters, Raye Springer of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carol Madden of Queensbury, N.Y.; his wife, Margaret Sharon Hipp of Dexter, N.Y.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Charles and Robert Perrotte; and a sister, Marie Collins died earlier.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

The O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of arrangements.

Meredith M. Drown

Ellenburg Depot — Meredith M. Drown, 66, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Ellenburg on June 6, 1936, the daughter of Maynard and Dorothy (Cook) Boyea.

She was employed at Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale for several years and was also the secretary for the Town of Ellenburg Supervisor's Office. She was a homemaker and assisted in operating the family farm and also operated the Cedar Inn Restaurant for four years. She attended the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid card and Yahtzee player. In her heart and mind, she was a lifelong resident of Ellenburg. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank L. and Lori Drown of Ellenburg Depot; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy A. Drown of Ellenburg Depot and Ann and Todd Meier of Goshen, Ind.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ramona and Alfred Daignault of Saratoga Springs; five grandchildren, Kristin, Patrick and Bethany Drown and Megan and Brandon Meier; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, L. Frank Drown died on Dec. 9, 1990. A son, Larry died in 1963. Her parents and a brother, Maynard Jr., also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Ellenburg Depot. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church. Interment will be in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot in the spring.

Patricia A. Rivers

Fredericksburg, VA — Patricia Ann Rivers, 69, of Fredericksburg, Va., died Monday, March 17, 2003, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rivers.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Roberts, Susan Campos and Donna Ward; four sons, Tom Rivers, Joe Rivers, Rick Rivers and Alan Rivers; two sisters, Mary Provost and Geraldine Shadrick; ten grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Northern VA, 9735 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031.

George Tallman Sr.

ALTONA — George Orville Tallman Sr., 78, of Altona passed away Monday, March 17, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his family following his struggle with cancer.

He was born in Champlain on Dec. 8, 1924, the son of Victoria and James Tallman.

He married the late Doris Helen (Laforest) Tallman on July 13, 1946. They were married for 46 years until her death in 1992.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and attained the rank of Sergeant.

George was a loving son, brother, father and uncle. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and he was a master woodworker.

George worked as a frog farmer, miner, restaurateur, entrepreneur and then a stationary engineer until his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418.

He was a truck-bank and coin collector. He always loved a good joke. He will be very much missed by his family and friends.

George is survived by one sister, Mabel Demers of Champlain; one son and daughter-in-law, George and Donna Tallman Jr. of Delanson; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Deborah and Reginald Mesec of West Chazy, Elaine (Sue) Tallman of Plattsburgh, Crystal and Richard Carter of Plattsburgh, Pamela and Mark Cayea of Lyon Mountain, Joan and Mark Brown of West Chazy and Melissa and Brian LaRock of Altona; 16 grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-law; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Alpha St. Andrew and Permelia Forrett; two brothers, Leonard and Norman Tallman; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 19, 2003, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Interment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Plattsburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1418 of Mooers.

Sister Cecilia "Cece" Seymour, O.S.U. died on March 15, 2003, at the Ursuline Convent, Santa Rosa, Calif.

She was born May Frances Seymour, Oct. 10, 1904, in Ellenburg, N.Y.

Calling hours will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Ursuline Convent Chapel, 400 Angela Drive, Santa Rosa, Calif. The Vigil Service will follow at 7 p.m. at Ursuline Convent Chapel. Her life will be celebrated at St. Rose Church, 398 Tenth Street, on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvery Cemetery. The Memorial Service for Sister Cecilia will be on Monday, March 24, 2003 at 5:15 p.m. in Notre Dame Church, Malone, N.Y.

Lewis H. Grew, 85, died Tuesdays March 18, 2003, at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.

Arrangements were incomplete Tuesday evening at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

Dorothy A. White, 94, formerly of Bloomingdale, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.

She was born in Roseland, N.J., on July 18, 1908, the daughter of Mayroe and Bertha (Brickman) Simpson.

A grave side service will be held at Brookside Cemetery on the spring. Arrangements are with the Fortune-Keogh Funeral Home, Saranac Lake.

Vivian E. Macmillan, 78, of 380 Priest Road, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Queens on May 25, 1924.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Cadyville Wesleyan Church. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
