Published: 03/03/03William A. PtaszynskiKEESEVILLE — William A. Ptaszynski, 60, of Basket Avenue, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at his home. He was born in Amsterdam on Feb. 15, 1943, the son of Alfred and Mary (Krawczyk) Ptaszynski. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1960. Bill graduated from the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing in 1968 and then from Berkshire Medical Center School of Anesthesia in Pittsfield, Mass., in 1970. He was employed at CVPH as a staff nurse anesthetist from 1971 to 1972; he then worked at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City as a nurse anesthetist from 1972 to 1975. He retired from the Buffalo VA Hospital, where he was employed as a nurse anesthetist from 1976 to 1994. Bill was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, hiking and canoeing. Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Porter of Keeseville; a sister, Celeste Pugliesi of Lake Placid, Fla.; aunt and uncle, Erny and Chester Krawczyk of Amsterdam; and several nieces and nephews. Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department or the Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home. Eugene Charles NeumaierELIZABETHTOWN — Eugene Charles Neumaier, 75, died Saturday, March 1, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Elizabethtown, the son of Charles and Lottie (MacDougal) Neumaier. Gene worked for 37 years as an equipment operator for the New York State Department of Transportation in Westport. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and received the Purple Heart during the Korean War. He is survived by two nephews, Greg Stevens of Slingerlands and Gary Stevens of Wayland, Mass., and a cousin, Roger MacDougal of Elizabethtown. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at W.M. Marvins Sons funeral home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, also at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Lewis Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Elizabethtown Lewis Ambulance Squad, Elizabethtown, NY 12932. DONALD H. MARTIN, 65, formerly of 32 Ampersand Ave., Saranac Lake, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center at Saranac Lake. Born in Saranac Lake on April 24, 1937, he was the son of John and Dorothy (St. Louis) Martin. Visitation will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. A memorial Mass will be held noon Monday at the Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel with the Rev. Patrick O’Reilly officiating. Interment will be in the Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May. |
