Published: 03/02/03Ross H. GarrowPLATTSBURGH — Ross H. Garrow, 66, of 4 Debra Lane, Plattsburgh, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 2, 1936, in Plattsburgh, the son of Alexander and Mable (Bressette) Garrow. Mr. Garrow married the former Helen Ashline at Our Lady of Victory Church in 1958, she died in 1976. He then married the former Adrienne Kingsland in Schenectady in 1973, she died in 1990. Mr. Garrow was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. He enjoyed going to camp, hunting, fishing and family gatherings and was a member of the N.R.A. Mr. Garrow was a self employed welder, a truck driver and construction worker in the northern New York area for many years retiring in 1976. Survivors include a companion, Sandy Bower; two sons, Howard Garrow and his wife Tami of Malone and Dennis Bower and his companion Marlene of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Jennifer and Amanda Bower, both of Plattsburgh; four brothers, Leeward Garrow and his wife Peggy of Peru, Anthony Garrow of Keeseville, Joe Garrow and his wife Laura and John Garrow, all of Plattsburgh; three sisters, Eleanor Trombley and Gloria Kennedy and her husband Robert, all of Plattsburgh and Linda LaPier and her companion J.R. Elms of Hudson Falls; three grandchildren, Craig and Brad Garrow and Shayla Bower; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Howard and Arnold Garrow died earlier. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in the spring. Donations in his memory, may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association. Dominick R. BakerPORT HENRY, N.Y. — Dominick R. Baker, 70, of 4124 Main Street, Port Henry, N.Y., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y. Dominick was born on Sept. 17, 1932, in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the son of Willard L. and Sonta (Veneto) Baker. He was a former employee of International Paper Co., Ticonderoga, N.Y. He served with the rank of Cpl., Air Police in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He is survived by the following, his mother, Sonta (Veneto) Baker; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Willard J. Baker and his wife Diane of Port Henry and Joseph Baker of Port Henry; a close friend, Daniel Cutting; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Willard L. Baker on Dec. 14, 1999. At Dominick's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time. There will be a graveside service at St. Patrick's Cemetery at a date and time to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad. The Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry, is in charge of arrangements. Rose Blanche RushfordMALONE, N.Y. — Rose Blanche Rushford, 79, of Broad Street, Churubusco, N.Y., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. She was born July 3, 1923, in Churubusco, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Natalie (Cusson) Poupore. She married Ambrose Rushford June 30, 1941, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco, N.Y. He predeceased her in May of 1989. She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Rushford of Belleview, Fla., Garry and Linda Rushford of Churubusco, N.Y., and Leon and Janice Rushford of Dover Plains, N.Y.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Patrick Burke of Chateaugay, N.Y., Beverley and Patrick Campbell of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., and Patricia Decosse and her companion Barry Bryant of Cadyville, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grand-children; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Marie Rushford; three brothers, Joseph Poupore, Hiram Poupore and Richard Poupore; two sisters, Lillian Matthews and Loretta Rushford. Mrs. Rushford lived all her life in Churubusco and attended schools there. In her early years she did domestic work. She was a devoted communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, a lector and eucharistic minister of the church, member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was well known for her fiddle playing and was involved with various musical activities and dance groups. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 4, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Chateaugay Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco, N.Y., with Rev. Howard McCasland officiating. Spring burial will take place in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Churubusco, N.Y. Funeral arrangements are through Chateaugay Funeral Home, Chateaugay, N.Y. CAROLYN M. CARR, of First Lane, Port Henry, N.Y., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, N.Y. She was born in Moriah, N.Y., on Oct. 6, 1943, the daughter of Cyrill and Anna (Begnouche) Carr. There will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will be conducted in the Union Cemetery, Moriah, N.Y., at a date and time to be announced. The Harland Funeral Home, Port Henry is in charge of announcements. |
