Published: 02/22/03Edward ProvostPlattsburgh — Mr. Edward Provost, 77, of Lake View Towers, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on June 28, 1925, son of the late Frank and Albena (Rabideau) Provost. Edward served in the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of 25 combat patrols during his time in the South Pacific, earning the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Edward retired in 1991 from several management positions throughout Clinton County and from Bow Plastic in Plattsburgh. He was a lifetime member of the Peru Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Marcaria Parrotte Bushey of Plattsburgh; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Richard and Arvice Parrotte Sr. of Cadyville; one son, Terry Provost of Plattsburgh; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joan Provost of Peru; one sister, Betty Helvie of Ocala, Fla.; four stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by one brother, James Provost. Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the CVPH Intensive Care Unit. Norman B. FurniaPeasleeville — Norman B. Furnia, 64, of the Guide Board Road, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, after a short illness. He was born in Peasleeville on June 4, 1938, the son of George and Albina (LaMarche) Furnia. Norman was a mason by trade, member of St. Matthew’s Church, Black Brook and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed visiting his second home in St. Petersburg, Fla., with his wife. He loved the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family. Norman is survived by his wife, Harriet (Collins) Furnia and their four children, daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Donah of Peasleeville, son Randy Furnia of Peru, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Todd Gisclair of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kelly Furnia of Plattsburgh. His brothers include Adrian Furnia, Richard and Roberta Furnia and Donald and Shirley Furnia, all of AuSable Forks. Sisters include Lillian and Richard Rabideau of Standish and Edna Whyman of Standish; two sisters-in-law, Martha Frenia of Peasleeville and Eunice Frenyea of AuSable Forks; grandchildren Jessica and Aaron Donah, Jonathan, Nicholas and Benjamin Furnia and Chloe and Aaron Lemza; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers predeceased him, Edmund Frenia and Roland Frenya. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zaumetzer - Sprague Funeral Home, AuSable Forks. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Matthew’s Church, Black Brook. Burial will be at a later date in St. Matthew’s Cemetery. Memorials to Norman may be made to the American Lung Association. Ruth Ella BrunellQUEENSBURY, N.Y. — Ruth Ella Brunell, 87, of Queensbury and formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at The Westmount Health Facility. She was born on Nov. 22, 1915, in West Chazy, N.Y., the daughter of the late William and Irene (Fournier) Peltier. Ruth was a communicant of St. Peter's parish in Plattsburgh. She worked for six years at Arpak Plastics in Plattsburgh. Ruth was a member of the Windy Towers Club in Plattsburgh and was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She was known for being a very creative person and devoted to her children and grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Russell J. Brunell, who passed away on June 2, 1983. She is also predeceased by an infant daughter, Sandra Jeanne Brunell; two sisters, Ina Moody and Elizabeth LaPier; and one brother, Francis Brunell. Survivors include four daughters, Sister Donna Brunell, OP of Ossining, N.Y., Nancy Touart of South Glens Falls, Sister Judith Brunell, OP of North Dartmouth, Mass., and Karen Forgette of Hadley, N.Y.; a sister, Leila Cordick and her husband Daniel of Ogdensburg, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Michelle, Tammy, Tina, Chantel and Julie; five great - grandchildren, Camden, Brandi, Trishia, Savannah and Jade; along with several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb., 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy, N.Y. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh is in charge of local arrangements. Margaret M. TallmanKeeseville — Margaret M. Tallman, 83, of Pleasant Street, Keeseville, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the Clinton County Nursing Facility in Plattsburgh. She was born in AuSable Forks on April 28, 1919, the daughter of Henry and Alphonsine (Marshall) Rougeau. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Tallman worked at the CVPH Medical Center for several years and was also employed at Betty's Cleaners in Keeseville. Margaret was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed dancing and country music. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Johansen of Colorado, Patricia Moynihan and companion Richard Nichols of Ilion, Linda and Thomas Pierce of AuSable Forks and Sharon and Lawrence Hart of Keeseville; three sons, Robert and Jane Blaise of Colorado, William and Cindy Blaise of Colorado and Gerald and Helen Blaise of Keeseville; and several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Tallman, on March 26, 1987; and two sons, Ronald and Vernon Thomas Blaise. At Margaret’s request, there will be no public calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to the Clinton County Nursing Home. Arrangements are incomplete with the Hamilton Funeral Home. Adele DionLacolle, Quebec — Adele Dion, 89, of Notre Dame Mont Carmel, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Lacolle, Quebec, on March 1, 1913, the daughter of Isidore and Emma (Boudreau) Lapalme. She married Oscar Dion on Dec. 26, 1931, at Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Catholic Church. Survivors include one brother, Lionel Lapalme of St-Johns, Quebec; eight daughters, Jeannine Lefebvre and Louise Cronkrite of Rouses Point, Rejeanne Lefebvre of Coopersville, Helen Boucher of St-Paul-iles- aux-noix, Yvette Belair of Lacolle, Denise Dion, Lucette Dion and Gisele Cartier of St-Valentin; five sons, George of St-Paul, Yvon, Omer, Leo and Robert Dion of Lacolle; 41 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Jean-Yves Dion; one brother, Isidore Jr. Lapalme; and two sisters, Florence Lapalme and Flore Vernier. The visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. at Gilles Serre Funeral Home, Inc., 48 de Péglise St., Lacolle, Quebec. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Catholic Church in Lacolle. Robert F. Jones, 83, of 30 Ketchum St., Malone, N.Y., died Friday morning, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone, where he had been a resident since Dec. 16, 2002. He had been a resident at the Farrar Adult Home in Malone. He was born in Malone on Jan. 30, 1920, the son of the late Alexander and Stella (Sharland) Jones. Calling hours will be Monday from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone in the spring. Elmer Wolfe, 88, of Bloomingdale, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at his home. He was born in Little Falls, N.Y., on Jan. 20, 1915, the son of William and Violet (Brewster) Wolfe. Visitation will be at Fortune - Keough Funeral Home on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Linda McIntyre, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale in May. |
