Thomas B. Thompson

Keeseville — Thomas B. Thompson, 55, of Prospect Road, Keeseville, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh, Nov. 11, 1947, the son of Raymond R. and June D. (Rhoads) Thompson.

He graduated from Keeseville High School in 1966. Continuing his education, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated from Plattsburgh State University with a bachelors degree in mathematics.

Tom was a mathematics teacher at Burlington High School and tutored at Plattsburgh State University.

He was a member of the AuSable River Lodge 149 F&AM and the Keeseville Elks Lodge 2072.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Timothy Thompson and Chris Allen of Port Kent; two nephews, Daniel and Benjamin Thompson, both of Port Kent; and three faithful canine companions.

At Toms' request, there will be no public calling hours or services.

Donations in his memory may be made to North Country Public Radio or the SPCA.

Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Maida M. LeClair

Keeseville — Maida M. LeClair, 80, of Clinton Street, Keeseville, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in St. Armands, Sept. 21, 1922, the daughter of Herbert and Julia (McLean) Owen.

She attended the Keeseville School System.

Maida was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 Ladies Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens Club.

She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Keeseville.

She loved gardening and also enjoyed reading and playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband, G. Raymond LeClair of Keeseville; one daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Gerald "Joe" Hull of Keeseville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy LeClair of Peru; four grandchildren, Jo Ann Rabideau, Keith Hull, Dustin LeClair and Kaitlin LeClair; five great-grand-children, Christopher, Wayne and Alyssa Rabideau and Rebecca and Shawn Hull; and one great-great-grandchild, Isis Kinch; one sister, Hazel LaBounty of Keeseville; and one brother, Robert Owen of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.

Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home.

Lindon Clyde Payne

MOOERS, NY — Lindon Clyde Payne, 74, of 145 Maple St., Moores, N.Y., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his home.

He was born in West Chazy on Oct. 12, 1928, the son of Ward Chester Payne and Gladys Laura (Wilson) Payne.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was with the Occupation Forces in Germany during that time.

Lindon married Margaret "Peg" Christensen on Nov. 22, 1952, in Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Altona. He was a corrections officer for nearly 36 years at Clinton Correctional Facility and later at Altona Correctional Facility where he received the "Employee of the Year Award." He retired in 1990.

Mr. Payne was a member of the Mooers Wesleyan Church where he served as a board member and treasurer. He was director of the Mooers Troop 58 Cub Scouts, a member of the American Legion Post 538 in Mooers, the Mooers Volunteer Fire Department, served the Mooers Camp Meeting Association as president and treasurer, treasurer of the Champlain District Benevolent Association of the Wesleyan Church and a member of the Bethany Bible College Board of Trustees.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Margaret of Mooers; one daughter, Marlynn and Dale Binkley of Richmondville, N.Y.; one son, Randy and Andrea Payne of Duxbury, Mass.; one sister, Beverly Christensen of West Chazy; one brother, Jay and Ruth Ann Payne of West Chazy and Sebring, Fla.; six grandchildren: Shawn and Christine Binkley, Kimberly Binkley, Heather and Michael Minch, Kevin Binkley, Matthew Payne and Zachary Payne; one great-grandchild, Erika Minch; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mooers Wesleyan Church in Mooers. Burial will be in the West Chazy Rural Cemetery in the spring.

Donations may be made to the Mooers Camp Meeting Association or the Mooers Wesleyan Church.

Bessie C. Lucia

Plattsburgh — Bessie C. Lucia, 74, of Margaret Street, went home to the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Altona on May 4, 1928, daughter of the late Charles and Velida (Goodman) Goodrow.

Bessie was predeceased by her husband Dolphus J. Lucia on May 25, 1995, and her brother, Francis Goodrow in 1994.

Bessie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Lucia of Plattsburgh and Randy Lucia of Plattsburgh; five daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Kevin Alexander of Mooers, Cathy and Robert Arruda of Mooers, Bea and Richard Desroches of Plattsburgh, Jeanne and Stephen Peryer of West Chazy and Diane and Jody Peryer of West Chazy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles and Doris Goodrow of Churubusco and Ernest Goodrow of Altona; a sister-in-law, Donna Goodrow of Altona; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Bessie enjoyed being outdoors, playing Bingo and enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Altona. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angel's Church in Altona. Burial will be later in the year in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Mrs. Lucia's memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center at CVPH Medical

Center or Hospice of the North Country.

Florence J. Supernault

Plattsburgh — Florence J. Supernault, 75, of Beekman Towers passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 8, 1927, the daughter of David and Emma (Pickle) Supernault.

Florence had been a private duty home health care provider in the area for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, David and Emma Supernault.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Peg Supernault of Essex, Vt.; and June Campbell of Essex Junction, Vt., who was like a daughter to her; a sister, Francis Elliott of West Townsend, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

At Florence’s request there will be no calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh.

Friends wishing may make donations to the charity of one's choice.

Helen L. Lancto, 97, of Finney Blvd., Malone died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Franklin County Nursing Home, Malone, N.Y., where she had been a patient since 2000.

Born in Merrill, N.Y., on April 20, 1905, she was the daughter of Leon and Lula (Tatro) LaDuc.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in St. Bernard's Church with Msgr. Bernard Christman officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Lyon Mountain.

Clayton F. Trombley, 86, a resident of the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, and formerly of Mooers died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003.

He was born March 13, 1916, in Plattsburgh, the son of Frank and Harriet (White) Trombley.

Calling hours were held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fox-McLellan Funeral Home and funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.
