Published: 02/10/03Eileen E. BrennanDANNEMORA — Eileen E. Brennan, 88, formerly of Dannemora, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Dannemora on Sept. 6, 1914, the daughter of William J. and Elizabeth (Hayes) Brennan. Miss Brennan was a nurse and retired from the Comstock Correctional Facility. She also was formerly employed by several doctor’s offices and also did private duty. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brennan of Dannemora, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Mary Collins, and seven brothers, Michael, John Francis, Msgr. William Harold, Clarence, William and Donald Brennan all died before her. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Meadowbrook Resident Activity Fund or the Dannemora Fire Department. Audrey L. RyanPLATTSBURGH — Audrey Lorraine Ryan, 79, of Plattsburgh, died on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Dannemora, to Homer and Natalie Good. Audrey grew up in Dannemora and graduated from Dannemora High School in 1941. Audrey married James Robert Ryan on May 16, 1943, and settled in Lyon Mountain. She was a homemaker, as well as part-time librarian at the Lyon Mountain Library for several years. She was a member of the Lyon Mountain Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed reading, bingo, pull-tabs and the New York State Lottery. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and Martin (Marty) Baker of Columbia, Tenn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Janice (Jan) Ryan of Plattsburgh; and grandchildren Craig and Nicole Baker and Kelly, Amy and Matthew Ryan; two siblings, Aleida Giordano of Beacon, N.Y., and Rodney Good of Plattsburgh; and her brother-in-law and close friend, Bernard Fitzpatrick of Peru. Her husband, Jimmy, died Oct. 8, 1996. Three siblings predeceased her, Doris Fitzpatrick on Oct. 15, 2002, Carl Good and Bernice "Bunnie" Salese. In September 2000 she became a resident of Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Lyon Mountain in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Seton Catholic Central Endowment Fund or the American Lung Association. Gerald M. BraultMORRISONVILLE — Mr. Gerald M. Brault, 51, of Sand Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born on Nov. 19, 1951, in Plattsburgh, the son of Bernard D. and Florence (Steere) Brault. Gerald was a graduate of Saranac Central High School. He had been a corrections officer for 30 years, retiring in 2001 as a sergeant from Lyon Mountain Correctional Facility. Gerald was currently an assistant manager at Advance Auto Parts in Plattsburgh. Gerald is survived by his mother, Florence Brault of Cadyville; five children, Robert A. and Heather Brault of Saranac, Cari Brault of Weehawken, N.J., Scott Brault of Saranac, Josh and Brittany Soulia of Malone, and Trevar Soulia of Morrisonville; one grandson, Brendon Soulia; four brothers, Raymond and Peggy Brault of St. Petersburg, Fla., Donald and Sally Brault of Belmar, N.J., Bernard and Connie Brault of Cadyville, Roland Brault of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Deanna and Allan Joss of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his father, Bernard D. Brault. Calling hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Brown Funeral Home in Cadyville. Doris Ann ScantleburyKeeseville, N.Y. — Doris Ann Scantlebury, 71, of Keeseville, formerly of Greenfield Center, N.Y., died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, on May 16, 1931, the daughter of Harold Wade Hiley and Gertrude Veronica (Borst) Hiley. Doris was self-employed for many years, having owned and operated the Greenfield Country Gardens and teaching horsemanship from her home in Greenfield Center. She was a gifted artist, beloved mother and good friend. She is survived by her son, James S. Ross of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Ross of Porters Corners; daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Suzanne Jandreau of Port Douglas, formerly of Delmar; sister Ruth Bidinost of Rotterdam; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Donna Hiley of Schenectady; brother Harold Hiley of Binghamton; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, followed at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Princetown Road, Rotterdam, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Monday evening, Feb. 10th, between the hours of 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Viewland Cemetery in Rotterdam in the spring. DAVID L. SLYMAN SR., 47, of County Route 42, Fort Covington, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt. Born in Malone on Oct. 3, 1955, he was the son of the late Earl and Beverly Goodrich Slyman. There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington with the Rev. Kris Lauzon, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the spring. Memorials may be made to the Fort Covington Fire and Rescue Squad. Arrangements are through the Cappiello-McKenzie and Cosgrove Funeral Home of Fort Covington. ARTHUR J. CHARLAND SR., 86, formerly of 38 Ampersand Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born in Saranac Lake on March 18, 1916, he was the son of Nelson and Amy (Young) Charland. Visitation will be at Fortune-Keough Funeral Home Inc. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A Bible vigil will be held at 3:45 p.m. Monday and a veterans service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at St. Bernard’s Church with Father Thomas Kornmeyer and Father Patrick O’Reilly concelebrating. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Saranac Lake, in May. |
