Published: 01/19/03Charles E. "Sonny" Daniels Sr.Plattsburgh — Mr. Charles E. "Sonny" Daniels Sr., 61, of Honey Drive, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vt. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 16, 1941, the son of the late Richard Tucker and Doris L. Daniels. He retired from AmeriGas in Plattsburgh in 2000 after 23 years of service. He enjoyed having good times with his family and friends. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 20, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Keeseville Lodge 2072, the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge 2390 and AMVETS Post 87 of Keeseville. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 17 years, Laura "Lolly" (Annis) Daniels of Plattsburgh; three sons, Archie and his companion Jean Healy of Plattsburgh and Sonny and Mike, all of Plattsburgh; six daughters, Shari and her husband Sam Seney of West Chazy, Kim, Karla, Cathy, Suzie and Angie "Bubba", all of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Richard Tucker and his wife Tina of Plattsburgh and Timothy Tucker of Albuquerque, N.M.; five sisters, Barbara Peterson and her husband Myron of Phoenix, Ariz., Doris Laundry and her husband Fran of Plattsburgh, Pearl Mabry and her husband Ken of Plattsburgh, Donna Vieyra and her husband Jerry of Nebraska and Pam Bordeau and her husband Brian of West Chazy; several grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at noon at St. Peter's Church. Theresa E. BrooksLyon Mountain — Theresa E. Brooks, 74, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 1, 1928, the daughter of George and Lucy (Cote) Charland. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Brooks and her companion Rodney Patnode of West Chazy, Sylvia and Harold Couture of Cadyville, Patsy Farrel and her companion Mike Hodges of Plattsburgh and Pam and Don Kunath of Australia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Euclid and Nettie Charland of Lyon Mountain and Robert and Shirley Charland of Chazy Lake; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Joe Plumadore of Troy, N.Y., and Blanche Dupraw of Standish; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her husband Leon died Dec. 30, 1998. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 21st, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are with the Lyon Mountain Funeral Home. Sherman Norris CroweTiconderoga — Sherman Norris Crowe, 71, of The Portage, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 25, 1931, the son of the late Sherman and Lottie (Wilson) Crowe. Mr. Crowe was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He was a Ticonderoga resident for most of his life. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for 43 years and was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shirley M. (Fleury) Crowe; two sons, James S. Crowe of Berwick, Maine, and Kenneth J. Crowe of Ticonderoga; two daughters, Lee Anne M. Whitford and Lynn J. Kerr, both of Ticonderoga; four brothers, Richard Crowe, Dale Crowe, John Crowe and William Crowe, all of Connecticut; and two sisters, Helen Pellitier of Vermont and Dorothy Berry of North Carolina. He is also survived by many grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will follow on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Marjorie J. Floor, pastor of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga, will officiate. Ruth HomerPlattsburgh — Ruth Homer, 87, a resident of Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh and formerly of Gouverneur, died Friday evening, Jan. 17, 2003, at the nursing home. She was born in Gouverneur on Nov. 23, 1915, the daughter of the late George and Bernice (Hacker) Hockey. She graduated from the Dean High School of Gouverneur in 1934 and married Donald S. Homer on June 4, 1939, in Dryden, N.Y. Mr. Homer, a retired employee of the Gouverneur post office, died March 2, 1986. The couple resided on the Hailesboro Road for 47 years and had lived several years during the winter at the Christian Retreat in Bradenton, Fla. Mrs. Homer drove school bus for 14 years for the Gouverneur Central School District. She moved to Plattsburgh in 1995 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Women’s Aglow Fellowship, Gouverneur Order of the Eastern Star 92, the Gouverneur Senior Citizens and the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Donna Drumm of Plattsburgh; two grandchildren, John and Julie Drumm of Plattsburgh and Derek Drumm of Plattsburgh; two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Lindsey Drumm; a brother, George Hockey of Gouverneur; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Robert Hockey; and a sister, Rhoda Hockey. There are no services at this time. A funeral service will be held in the spring with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur. Mary Alice Burgoyne, 89, of 420 Old Military Rd., died Jan. 17, 2003, at the Uihlein Mercy Center. She was born in Findlay, Ohio, on Dec. 1, 1913, the daughter of Raymond and Cecelia Shontlemire. There are no calling hours. A graveside service in North Elba Cemetery will be held in the spring. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements. Donald William Peryea, 86, of Ray Brook, N.Y., died at his home on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 9, 1916, in Bangor, N.Y., the son of Stephen and Mary (DeGrey) Peryea. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held for family and friends at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19th, at the Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel. The American Legion and the Masonic Lodge will hold a prayer service at 3 p.m. followed by a funeral service with Rev. Mark Demers, pastor of the Adirondack Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery in May. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements. Frederick Higgins, 76, of 218 The Vineyard Road in Ticonderoga, died at his home on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, following a long illness. He was born in Fair Haven, Vt., on Dec. 22, 1927, the son of Frederick and Gladys (Woodard) Higgins. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Connery & Gunning Funeral Home in Ticonderoga on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003. A funeral service will follow the calling hours with the Rev. William Muench officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ticonderoga in the spring. |
