Weston Edwin Lea

Grand Isle, Vt./ Plymouth, N.H. — Weston Edwin Lea, 18, of Grand Isle, Vt., and Plymouth, N.H., -- gifted athlete, compassionate friend and loving son -- died on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in Plymouth, N.H., as a result of a pedestrian/car accident.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 17, 1984, the son of Dean Lea and Debra Gibbs. He was a senior at the Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H.

He played for the Green Mountain Glades junior hockey team before joining the team at Holderness School. He held the Holderness record for most soccer goals scored in one season.

His feisty spirit on rink and field was balanced by the depth and warmth of his heart and his wry sense of humor. His sensitivity to human nature and life values motivated him to help family and friends or anyone whose spirit needed uplifting. He was a bright light that illuminated the lives of many. His flame will burn on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Dean Lea and Debra Gibbs of Grand Isle, Vt.; one brother, Evan Lea, also of Grand Isle; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Lea of Peru, N.Y.; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Joan Ann Gibbs of Crown Point, N.Y.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and hundreds of classmates at the Holderness School in New Hampshire.
