Published: 01/15/03Vincent L. Mason Jr.WILMINGTON — Vincent L. Mason Jr., 54, of Whiteface Mountain Road, Wilmington, died Monday evening, Jan. 13, 2003, at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake. He was born April 10, 1948, in Lake Placid, the son of Vincent L. Sr. and Eliza (Lawrence) Mason. He was a carpenter by trade, employed by Louis, Hill, Mason Contractors of Lake Placid. Vincent was well known as an active outdoors sportsman. He is survived by two brothers, Alvin Mason and Francis Mason, both of Wilmington; six sisters, Marion Jones and Violet Irwin, both of Wilmington, Shirley Straight of Upper Jay, Goldia Fountain of AuSable Forks, Betty Smith of Wilmington and Nancy Garrett of California; one son, Vincent Lee Mason of Keeseville; two daughters, Eliza J. Mason of Keeseville and Stephanie Mason of Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews. Those that predeceased him were his parents, a sister, Dorothy Peck and a brother, Charles Lawrence. At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorials to Vincent may be made to the Wilmington Fire and Rescue Squad, Wilmington, NY 12997. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. William C. Maxwell, 67, of Port Orange, Fla., died Jan. 14, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Wilkensburg, Pa., and had lived in Port Orange since 1987 coming from Floyd, NY. He also had been a resident of Plattsburgh for many years. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Port Orange Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow with full military honors in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Arrangements are under the direction of Cardwell & Maloney Funeral Home, Port Orange, Fla. |
