Nellie M. Adams

Morrisonville — Nellie M. Adams, 74, of Soper Street, Morrisonville died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Peru, Feb. 7, 1928, the daughter of Willis and Edith (Delorme) Durgan.

Nellie was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. "Butch" II and Mary Adams of Plattsburgh and Edward H. and Liz Adams of Morrisonville; three sisters, Mildred Bassett of Peasleeville, Ellen Barnhart of Cambridge and Sue Hanson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Helen Durgan of Peasleeville; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Adams, July 7, 2000; a daughter, Joan F. Adams; four brothers, Mert, Steve, Guy and Leonard Durgan; and one sister, Helen Bailey.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. Burial will be in the spring in the Peasleeville Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of ones’ choice.

Mary M. Trautman

Plattsburgh — Mary M. Trautman, 93, died Jan. 12, 2003, at CVPH following a stroke.

She was born in Baltimore, Md., on Jan. 10, 1910, the daughter of Harry E. and Grace Miller.

She lived in Plattsburgh with her daughter for many years and for the past six years at the Samuel F. Vilas Home.

In Baltimore she was the director of the Margaret Bennett Home, a residence for women undertaking professional careers.

She is survived by her son, George Trautman of Simsbury, Conn.; her daughter, Jaimie Trautman of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, Emily Wood of Fairhaven, Mass., Timothy Trautman of Hudson, Ohio and Courtney Trautman of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Grace White of Baltimore, Md. and Katherine Jones of Stamford, Conn.; a brother, Walter Miller of LaJolla, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan and Margaret Trautman of Hudson, OH; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her many good friends and the wonderful staff and residents of Vilas.

A memorial gathering will take place on Martha’s Vineyard in the spring.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Samuel F. Vilas Home, 61 Beekman St. Plattsburgh, NY.

Arrangements are by the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.

Shirley J. LaValley

Mooers Forks — Shirley J. LaValley, 66, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Altona on July 10, 1936, the daughter of Ovelia and Lydia (Bushey) Guerin.

Shirley was employed at the LaValley Farm, Delegar and at the McCadam Cheese Company over the years.

She was loving, caring and forgiving and very devoted to her family.

Survivors include her husband, Leo E. LaValley of Chateaugay; three sons, Ronald LaValley and his companion Joanne St. Claire of Ellenburg Depot, Larry and Tammy LaValley of Syracuse and Leo LaValley Jr. of Mooers Forks; four daughters, Carol and Wallace Vennette of Ellenburg Depot, Ann LaValley of Mooers Forks, Barbara and Richard Goss of Ellenburg Depot and Cora LaValley of Mooers Forks; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Earl Guerin, Rufus and Shirley Guerin, Floyd Guerin and Wayne Guerin, all of Irona; a sister, Marie Mayo of Champlain; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Three children, Dennis, Gary and Jane, died before her.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Committal services will be held in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mooers Forks in the spring.

Donations in Shirley’s memory may be sent in care of Carol Vennette, 308 Drown Rd., Ellenburg Depot, NY 12935.

Arrangements are with the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Mooers.

Elizabeth A. Grant

MORIAH, N.Y. — Elizabeth A. Grant, 89, of Moriah, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home, Ticonderoga, N.Y.

She was born on Feb. 23, 1913, in Mineville, N.Y., the daughter of Alex and Katherine (Varga) Gergley.

She was a 1931 graduate of Port Henry High School.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, John Grant of Moriah and Harold Grant of Yardley, Pa.; one grandson; three granddaughters; and eleven great-grand-children.

She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Grant; her sisters, Mary Susnosky, Julia Cheney and Margaret Glindmeyer; and her brother, Alex Gergley.

At her request there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrate at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at St. Patrick’s Church, Port Henry, N.Y., Rev. Michael Toth, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Moses Ludington Nursing Home Residents Fund, Ticonderoga, N.Y.

Harland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Peter Francis Jr., 57, died in Ghana, West Africa, on Dec. 7, 2002, while on a recherché project for Beads.

He was born in Ellsworth, Kan., Aug. 6, 1945.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Eustace Church in Lake Placid. Rev. Judson Pealer and Rev. Alan Macnab, will officiate.

The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd E. Mayville, 79, of County Route 14, Duane, died Monday morning, Jan. 13, 2003, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

There are no calling hours. Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are through the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral service of Malone.
