Tawnya Lynn Columb

LACONIA, N.H. — Miss Tawnya Lynn Columb, 39, of 93 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, R.I., died at her parents’ home at 1220 Old North Main Street, Laconia, N.H., on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Tawnya was born March 4, 1963 in St. Albans, Vt., the daughter of Alfred T. and Catherine M. (Lambert) Columb. In 1981, she graduated from Northeastern Clinton Central School in Champlain, and in 1983, she graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vt., with an associate’s degree.

She was a dental assistant and lab technician for Dr. Michael Rubenstein and Dr. Robert Ducoff in Providence, R.I., for 11 years. As an avid athlete, she enjoyed golf, rollerblading, softball, volleyball, soccer, skiing and tennis. She was awarded a lifetime membership at the Triggs Country Club in Rhode Island.

Tawnya was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Smithfield, R.I., and St. Joseph Church in Laconia, N.H.

Tawnya is survived by her parents, Alfred and Catherine M. Columb of Laconia, N.H.; a sister, Tara J. Columb, of Gilford; two brothers, Ronald M. Columb of Laconia, N.H., and Randal J. Columb and his wife, Donna E. Kirste, of Manchester, N.H.; two nieces, Emelia M. Columb and Kelsea O. Columb, both of Manchester, N.H.; her godparents, Kevin and Dorothy St. John of Clearwater, Fla.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Alfred E. and Edna Columb and Homer and Lucienne Lambert.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkerson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in the family lot in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.

Viola Elizabeth LaRock

TICONDEROGA — Viola Elizabeth LaRock, 98, formerly of Outlet Drive, Ticonderoga, and most recently of the Moses-Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Nursing Home where she has been a resident.

Born in Shoreham, Vt., June 19, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Bell (Turrel) Putnam.

Mrs. LaRock was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga.

She was employed as a cook and housekeeper for Stephen Pell of Ticonderoga for many years. She then moved to Meriden, Conn., where she was employed by International Silver Company as a silverware inspector for 10 years.

After returning to Ticonderoga in 1964, Mrs. LaRock was a self-employed house cleaner for many years.

Her husband, Leo LaRock, pre-deceased her in 1979.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen M. Harberts of Portlandville and Shirley E. (Malaney) Webb of Ticonderoga; one brother, Donald Putnam of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Maurice Malaney of Depew, Michael Malaney of Billerica, Mass., and Sandra Malaney Davies of Windham, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m at the Funeral Home. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the family plot of St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga in the spring.

Francis D. Fountain Jr.

KEESEVILLE — Francis D. Fountain Jr., 66, of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born at home in AuSable Forks, May 27, 1936, the son of Francis D. Sr. and Gladys E. (Nolan) Fountain.

Mr. Fountain served four years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a loyal employee of the Cold Springs Granite Company in AuSable Forks for 37 years.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the American Legion, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Veterans of Foreign Wars and honorary order of worldwide benevolent bingo players.

He was a loving husband, dad and Papa. A help to all who knew him. He will live on in our hearts forever.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rickie Barber of Keeseville, Kimberly Fountain and Thomsa Beglin of Tucson, Ariz., Stephanie and Steven DesGroseilliers of Chesapeake Bay, Va., and Belinda and Andrew Walter of Nokesville, Va.; one son, Francis D. Fountain III of Keeseville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judith and Del Furnia of Oakdale, Conn., and Kathleen and Michael Phillips of AuSable Acres; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce A. Fountain; parents; one brother; and one sister.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Church in Keeseville. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center c/o Hamilton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 570, Peru, N.Y. 12972.

Tracey Lee Anderson

TICONDEROGA — Tracey Lee Anderson, 34, formerly of Keeseville and most recently of Ticonderoga, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Ellis Hospital of Schenectady.

Born in Plattsburgh, Jan. 28, 1968, he was the son of Robert Lee Anderson of California and Mary A. Bartline of Ticonderoga.

Mr. Anderson held various jobs including paper delivery for the Press-Republican newspaper of Plattsburgh.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his maternal grandmother, Agnes Goodrow of South Carolina; one brother, Eric Anderson, one sister-in-law, Laurie Anderson, and one Nephew.

Relatives and friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 p.m at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A funeral service will follow at the Funeral Home at 3 p.m. The Rev. Paul L. Dufford Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.

Interment will take place at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga in the spring.

Martin Halpert

TICONDEROGA — Martin Halpert, age 74, of Baldwin Road, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at his home.

Born Dec. 25, 1928, in New York City, he was the son of Maurice and Shirley (Fiarman) Halpert.

Martin was employed by the New York City Department of Corrections as a corrections officer for many years. He retired as captain in 1976.

Martin and his family were part-time residents of Ticonderoga since 1969 and settled there permanently following his retirement.

He was a member of the New York State Free and Accepted Masons.

Martin enjoyed his home and the beautiful scenery from his home on Lake George. He also enjoyed the company of his son, neighbors and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Anna Hirsch Halpert.

He is survived by one son, Daniel Halpert of Ticonderoga.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

Burial will take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Valley View Cemetery, Ticonderoga.

Contributions in Martin’s memory may be directed to the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, Ticonderoga, NY, 12883, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.

CATHERINE H. FLEURY, 97, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hamilton Funeral Home in Keeseville.

DOROTHY "Dolly" McKEE, 79, of Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Parker, pastor of Peru Community Church, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Peaseleeville Cemetery.

NORA E. HILL, 77, of Meacham Street, Port Henry, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Community Hospital in Elizabethtown.

She was born Sept. 10, 1925, at Procter, Vt., the daughter of Clifford and Emma (Blaise) Raymond.

At her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time.
